HI,

I am getting some problems when I try to burn an ISO of this game to disc. (note this is the NTSC version)

Well basically everytime I try to burn it I get an error
(see image below)
http://img222.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitledrk1.jpg

It happens ALL the time, i've reinstalled Alcohol 120% (even tried different versions) yet it happens all the time. Even DVD Decrypter gives me an error about burning this game.

Is this a known problem for FFVII: DoC?? Anybody know any solutions?

This just in--!

ok i've used like 5 DVD-R on this thing. what is going on.

I just burned Time Crises 3 to be sure and it worked. but whenever I try DoC w/ Swap magic 3.6 it just says "please load PS2 disc" (something like that) but basically the game DOES NOT even boot up! This should've been done 4 hours ago ¬¬

I get the exact same files as the guy from this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/392784

e-docff7.001
e-docff7.002
e-docff7.003
e-docff7.076
e-docff7.nfo
e-docff7.sfv

I burned with DVD Decrypter and Alcohol 120% and doesnt work! But i burned another game and it worked!

Also, how comes with Nero I cant burn image files over 2 GB or something??

The game your trien to burn is maybe corrupted.Use WinRAR to open it if it doesnt open and then use DVD Decrypter.

Yep I used WinRAR to extract it as an ISO. But I just dont understand why the game wont boot with Swap Magic after I burn it. Grrr!

I burned with Alcohol and DVD Decrypter. i havent tried Nero because it wont let me burn an image file over 2GB... any solution to all of this?

If you're using Swap Magic to boot, then there's a strong possibility you may also need to use CDLoader's DVD Boot method (TOC refresh) as an additional swap.
And Nero will let you burn an imge file over 2Gb, it just won't let you add a file over 2Gb to a DVD compilation, which is not what you would do with an iso anyway.

Sorry Im confused. Nero WONT burn an image file to disc which is over 2GB... unless I choose UDF method. Right?

And what is CDLoader's DVD Boot method (TOC refresh)?

ok ive been searching around and you're probably right. I *may* need DVD Loader. as i've read someone else couldnt get this to work but did in the end by using DVD Loader.

now the problem is How do I use it with swap magic?? there isnt a guide on these forums and there could be many possibilites.

i downloaded and burned DVD Loader to a DVD-R disc for now. and I did give it an attempt by doing:

1) loading Swap magic 3.6
2) pulling out tray via slide-tool
3) pushing tray back in with DVD loader

but it didnt work and I get the usual error message "Not a valid PS2 disc"

PLEASE HELP!

(also, why did u recommend me CD-Loader when FFVII:Dirge of Cerberus is a DVD based game??

Yes & no. If you want to make a data dvd or build a PS2 game from the files of the game that you've ripped to your HD, then you use DVD > UDF/ISO, but if any of those individual files is larger than 2Gb, then Nero has a limit to stop you.
But in your case, you aren't doing this, you are burning an iso disc image that you extracted from e-docff7.001 - edocff7.076, called e-docff7.iso So you need to click on OPEN in the Nero wizard to browse to the image file, then burn it.

I recommended CDLoader, cos that's what I used. It's able to load DVD's through a TOC refresh for a DVD game/SM DVD version. Get a hold of CDLoader for your version of PS2, & burn to CD-R, from http://www.swapmagicfix.com (although DVD Loader should of worked just as well without needing to TOC refresh, perhaps it's the media you used?)
CDLoader DVD Boot Method:
1. Load up Swap Magic CD Version
2. Use swap method to put in CDLoader & press X
3. Once CDLoader has booted, note that it says 'Media: PS2CD' in bottom left corner. Now press EJECT on the PS2 to refresh the TOC & remove CDLoader, replacing with SM DVD version (note the Media message in bottom left has disappeared), and close tray. Wait til disc 'synchs' for a few seconds, and note bottom left corner now says 'Media: PS2DVD', then press X.
4. Next screen will tell you to swap discs using 'EA Method', so use your swap method (slide card) to replace the SM DVD with your DOC backup, then press & hold X til the screen disappears. Game will load.

There are instructions on swapmagicfix with this info & more if you need any further help.

Thanks for your post. can those step-by-step instructions apply to the DVD Loader as well? (and is it necessary to use the CD Swap Magic for this procedure?)

I'll d/l CD Loader in the mean time and post my results :(

wait I need a blank CD to do that, which I dont have. Bah! I got DVD Loader though.

DVDLoader Method:

1, Swap Magic DVD
2. DVDLoader
3. DVD backup game

I see. though, that you're using SM v3.6, did you try 'Special Boot'? Its supposed to be a modified version of CD/DVDLoader

^I tried and it didnt work >_>

but I do have a blank CD-R however, a spare one. So I will try it.

first I need to download CD Loader because I couldnt find it off swapmagicfix.

btw does it matter if DVD loader or CD loader is PAL or NTSC? because my PS2 is PAL but my DVD Loader is NTSC (however my swap magic is also PAL) could that be the reason my DVD Loader did not work?

Yes it is a possibility. But would it matter if my DVD or CD Loader is NTSC or PAL? Because my PS2 = PAL, and Swap Magic = PAL.

And I can't even find the place to download CD Loader. Anybody know where?

CDLoader was on swapmagicfix.com, but it seems they've removed the links in the 'Go>>' icon.
You can get it in the downloads section of backupscene.

A weird course of events here.

I tried various methods.

first I: Load Swap magic 3.6 (DVD) then swap it with Zoneleader 0.5 and swap that with FFVII: DoC, then I get some redish/orange screen and thats it.

second i: Load SM 3.6 (CD) then CD Loader then SM 3.6 DVD then finally FVII: DoC, and after it loads I end up in the PS2 menu interface bit. You know the screen that displays your memory card(s) and the CD (or DVD in my case) well I whenever I select the DVD icon it keeps bringing me back to the same screen (with my 2 memory card icons + DVD icon) so its a never ending cycle ¬¬

lastly I: load SM 3.6 DVD and swap it with FFVII: DoC and it brings me to that same screen showing my two memory cards + the DVD icon (which is of course my backup game, FFVII: DoC)

See how weird this is?? I know the game is burnt fine, but i dunno... my PS2 just wont start it. >_< Any ideas?

Must be a bad burn, or bad media then. I'd be more inclined to lean towards bad media.
What brand DVD are you using, and is it +R or -R?

It's Verbatim DVD-R (4.7GB)

I've burned other games with these exact discs just fine.

In any case, what media DVDs would you recommend ace1uk?
