I will simply run them side by side in my 2 Antec 1035 cases...same number and model of fans...only difference between the 2 is a Intel vs an AMD...I have a good enough ear to tell if there is much of a difference...I expect the Corsair to be quieter...but not by much...I was planning on buying a Corsair to replace my OCZ in my HTCP case...I was not planning on the HX...I do not need or want modular cables or multiple rails...It will be a TX or VX...Sorry...

Any corsair should be quieter than an OCZ unit I expect. Besides, in an HTPC none of the units should be stressed sufficiently to rise above minimum noise level. You should be pleased with any of the units. The VX is at least as quiet as the HX for lower power usage, so go with that. I don't know how quiet the TX is at low loads, but I expect 650W would be major overkill for HTPC needs anyway.

Its not so much the noise its the Led fan...I want to eliminate the Blue Glow...and my case needs a bottom mount fan...so...No PCP&C P/S...case is a CM282 turned to HTCP configuration...

Stick with the 450W version then, I think theres only a 450 and 550 version of the VX.

sorry i havent responded since my last post. been busy with the family..
if i get the cosair P/S is 550w enough for what im building? i only have the 2 optical drvies(ide) when i go to get 3 or 4 sata drives will the 550w bee enough? nt that im gonna be burning on all 4 drives at once(but beleive me i will at least once with overburn and @ 20x)lmao... see what yu done to me greensman..lol
i think the total amount im gonna have is $775 to spend. 75 of it being a gift card to bestbuy. so i might have to go there and get a HDD maybe i dont know...

I can't get to Newegg either. Getting a HTTP 400 Bad Request error page.
The first of three orders from Newegg has arrived :D
BTW the Thermaltake 750 PSU looks great. It comes with what looks like a noise/vibration absorbing gasket. I haven't seen those before.

Frank: I have the exact same 750W Thermaltake. The silicone bracket did absolutely nothing for me, but hey, it doesn't really cause much vibration, it's just an unpleasant sounding fan. Not that noisy (not at minimum speed anyway) but it has a papery ticking noise to it...

It looks nice...I am not sure about some of its cooling principles...Sam would like it...It is reported to be very Quiet...
The case Deadrum33 got the Thermaltake Armour is probably the best deal right now...Insane Cooling and tons of 3.5 bays...Great for a server case...Lots of room to work in...It has a big rebate...if you can wait to get your cash back...it is a Great Deal...$69 after a $80 rebate...At Newegg...

Well, if it's like most coolermaster cases, the fans will be quiet, but will push hardly any air, so you have to have lots of them for the PC to stay cool enough. Fortunately with 4 of them I think you might survive...

Whats the Pros & Cons on P/S on the top or bttm.I've seen a lot & most don't like P/S on bttm,but don't say WHY..Is their a significant difference.About the only thing I can think of is Heat,and it rises.

Heat does indeed rise, yet oddly the best solution for me seems to have my top fan as intake, my bottom fan as exhaust. Consequently, a PSU on the bottom logically seems a better idea.

Its $20 more then it was yesterday...I do not like that it has 4 exhaust...counting the P/S...with 1 intake...not a very well balanced airflow design in my opinion...what are you looking for in a case?...
Mostly heat...however...P/S on the bottom can be a pain to wire...especially the 24 pin connection...most M/B are designed with layouts that benefit the standard design...

I didn't know they make a P31 chipset. It seems like the P35, but uses an older model southbridge. Seems good for budget builds.
I just read a review and the performance is on par with P35, that's very good.

From the reviews I remember seeing I don't think it was quite up to par. Besides, the P35C-DS3R is a better board anyway.
He-Man: That's pretty much the exact build I would recommend to any gamer now, apart from the fact I would use an HD3870 Graphics card over an 8800GT (now that they're in stock again!)

Rob the 550 watt PS should be enough BUT if you can swing it i would go bigger like a 650watt to be on the safe side

550w is, to be frank, overkill. My PC never uses above 250W, yours will hardly use any more. At full load, it will certainly be under 300W.
The whole z0mg n33dz m0re p0w4z!!!1KW PSU ftwzomgxorz!!1!! came about simply because there were (and still are) so many "500W" power supplies on the market that were absolute garbage and couldn't keep up with a 150W system. So the natural assumption was that they needed more wattage. While that was true, it was not because 500W was enough, it was because the power supply could only put out a third of what it said it could. A 520W Corsair PSU will power pretty much anything on the market. There is only one system config that wouldn't work with it, and that's a pair of 2900XTs in Crossfire. With the advent of the HD3870, that's no longer a viable configuration anyway.
