Shipping Charge: £8.99
Subtotal: £70.26
VAT: £12.31
Total: £82.57

To £68.00 on that Ebay Shop. Even if we take away postage costs it's still cheaper. I may haggle with that guy on Ebay, he has the corsair ram im after aswell.

Oh, my bad. Didn't spot that was without VAT.
I'd still rather buy from ebuyer than ebay though...

I am just looking at e-buyer prices and they are rather expensive(about the same as overclockers)

Scan seems the best bet.

No, just don't bother with crossfire. ATi graphics cards are fine, but crossfire's an absolute joke. I'm almost certain that's where your problems came from.

Crossfire only gained 2000 3DMark06 points. Nvidia SLI gave me a much better two card increase over one. The single card score with this Phenom 9500 PC was 10,340, non OCed. When I tried non OCed crossfire I was getting around 12000. Overclocking the cards and the Phenom would score 12,300 or so.

I may not have the crossfire set up correctly though so I may find a way to get more of an improvement. The way it is now, crossfire is a waste of money. I'll search around a bit and see if there is something wrong with the way I have it set up. There is really not a lot to doing it though... Add the second card, add the jumper, open Catylist Control Center and click the Enable Crossfire box.

I can always use the extra card in something else.

It does look rather cool though:

That cable management is "1337"

Ill serach for 3870 crossfire problems, as far as i have found is,

http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.c...&threadid=89578

The dude goes on about BIOS settings,

"have you checked in your BIOS to see if you have your second PCI-E slot disabled or something? there must be something wrong with your settings"

Alos check you are in PCIE mode.

Later, they go on about

"The GPUZ says that the Crossfire mode is not active, and the results that I obtain with 3DMark06 and Crysis are equal than with a single card...
I have changed the Catalyst drivers to 7.10 and 7.10 without Crysis Fix, I have checked a lot of times the BIOS settings, but I can't find nothing that solves this problem."

Oh and here is real 3870 crossfire,

Anyway, what do you think of this ATI 3850?

I recieved my CM stacker 830 evo case yesterday. man that sucker is huge. it is loaded with a lot of nice features. I don't see how the egg could have shipped it for free. the box was about 30" x 24" x 16". when I do get around to using it, I doubt I will set it on top my desk on the right edge like my mystique is now. I'll probably park it on the right side on the floor and then wheel it out when I need to get behind it (it comes with wheels if I choose to use them).

He_Man,
That 8800Ultra looks pretty good for a single card! At 14,537 3D Marks, I'd love to see what two of them could do in a good SLI MB. A bit expensive though, to do it, even with this one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130090

Anyone here know anything about 2 of these in SLI?

Best Regards,

Now let's all gaze in stardom at two 9800GTX's in SLI. Anyone fancy breaking the 50,000 mark?

And here's me with my lowly 6900. Oh well! :D
Fasfrank: I love the cable management job, top notch man!
I'm puzzled by that chart. 3850s in crossfire get pretty much the same score as using 3870s?

If anybody is still looking for good optical drives, I HIGHLY recommend Plextor. I do an extreme amount of downloading/disc burning, and after all the bad burns and drive failures, I spent the extra $ for the Plextors and have never gone back. One brand I highly un-recommend is HP, in particular the dvd740, 840.

Haha I don't know Sam, I might have you beat on storage space.

WD 1tb ext (Video)
WD 500gb (Games)
WD 400gb (All Other Files)
WD 250gb ext (Applications)
WD 200gb (Music)
WD 80gb (XP Boot)
WD 35gb x 2 Raptor Raid 0 (Vista Boot)
AcomData 120gb ext (Business Backup)

For a grand total of....2,620gb...lol Anybody remember Win 3.0 and 100mb hard drives?

Anyway, I'm really trying to find a new video card for a friend. anybody have a recommendation for a kind of all in one video card? I'm looking for something that has a coax cable input to watch/record TV, transfer videos from a camcorder or something similar, and a card that can play most of the games I throw at it at a decent resolution. I'm not talking about maxing out frame rates here, just something that will play games at decent quality/resolution.

I was looking at the 8800 GT, but it seems mostly for gaming. I have an ATI all in wonder in my other box, and it works pretty decent, but that was a card from a year or so ago, I'm sure there are better ones for the $ now.

And what is the deal with PCIe 2.0? I was reading a review for the X38 chipsets, and the reviewer was basically saying to forget about it unless I need bleeding edge technology. He was saying it was a X38/48 chipset feature, and that GFX cards today and in the near future won't even be able to max out PCIe 1.0's bandwith, so PCIe 2.0 is essentially useless for now and the foreseeable future. So even for upgrade-ability's sake, is PCIe 2.0 not worth it?

Thanks for the help.

Lol ooh, just about. You have 2.62TB and I currently have 2.60TB. That's pretty damn close!
As for Plextors, they're excellent quality, but carry the appropriate price tag! :)
As for the video card, ATI All in wonder is where it's at. I would never recommend an nvidia card for such use, not because I'm a fanboy, but because nvidia's normal geforce cards don't have proper TV and VIVO support. That's present on all ATI's cards, even the standard Radeons.

I have not got the W/D drives yet...they are supposed to go below $200 a drive...shortly after New Years...I will have less then 2Gs in the downstairs HTCP with the (6) drives...I built the downstairs HTCP with spare parts...I will probably have about $2,500 in the up stairs HTCP...I have not completely decided on the components for that one...I was going to go Penryn for the (4) Video Card Support...I could have a direct feed to up to (8) TV's if I take that route...Fasfranks problems are kind of making me Leary of that route...My house will be a Full on Smart Home...I will be able to control it from anywhere in the World...every single thing in it will be controlled by computer...Press my Garage Door opener...it will turn on the inside lights...TV's...what ever I want it to do...

Thanks He-Man, Thanks Sam!..
With that case I left the top drive bay empty and stuffed a lot of the wiring there. I layered the rest, coming down the front of the mobo and drives. I like to get the front panel connector wiring, USB and audio wiring on the bottom layer, then optical and HDD power next and then the SATAs. and any odd ones last. The 24 pin connector wire bundle and floopy cable tend to hide and hold everything in place. This Siverstone case is tight but manageable. I won't buy another one of these though.
Mort you are going to enjoy that Stacker! Full towers are great to work with and CM does a good job on their lower priced cases so I imagine this one will be excellent to work in.

He-Man, thanks for the links and info. I'm going to bring everything down to default clocks and go from there. Gpuz shows crossfire enabled. It also shows both pci-e slots at 16X. I will probably pull the cards and put them in my Asus P5W-DH mobo ans see what that does.
