@greensman..

running with ZALMAN CNPS9700 LED it's on order..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118019

gotta modify the clear case..taking out the 3, 80mm's led out that came with it gonna put 2 120mm led's in front and back and 3 140mm, 1 on top and two on the side.. and..i need to get grills also.for the fans..I may get 1 for behind the board also..i got enough space for a fan to fit between the board and the case. i measure it at 1 inch space between..it may have to be a slim one..i gotta do some cutting or get the holes cut out for me sense..I'm the only one that has a clear case in here..I need of alot of air flow but until then..i'm not gonna turn my cpu back up until the modifying is done so..i'm at 2.66ghz 4 now until good cool air is flowing right..i gotta check on some prices for the good fans not loud 1 either..i dont wanna fill like a airplane is landing in my bedroom..lol

Done out of Here!

Yep it's steel and heavy as lead. lol. It's kinda tooless but nothing like the Gigabyte. I'm taken with this Gigabyte case. I'd like to try an upper end Cooler Master now..... BUT that won't happen after my recent purchases unless I sell something..... NOT!! Well I could sell the CM-690 and buy an upper end Cooler Master. ;)

NO need to "shut up". rofl..... We all have our likes and dislikes. The only thing that I've had Antec until I bought the 1000W Quattro was TriCool fans (which are good) so my experience with Antec is limited. ;)

good to see you post.... :D

hehe, yeah I need to clarify that. I no longer like antec cases after being exposed to aluminum cooler master cases. I do however like their tricools and their psu's aren't bad either.

I talked to him the other day as aabbccdd was looking for him too. So I e-mailed him! He's all tied up with that festival that he is running. It'll be a while before we hear more than a hello! LOL!!

Haha, genius! Yeah, I sold my 900 since I prefer my new server case, which coincidentally also fits an Ultra 120.
Greensman: The 3D Aurora is monstrous.
Tripplite: I've had several faulty S-ATA cables, it's not as far-fetched as you might think, they're quite weak. My friend Nick had a Koolance case with a watercooling system based on the Exos design, it's decent, but it's what we'd call "moderate performance", unremarkable but acceptable. Of course that by watercooling standards means it beats pretty much any air cooling setup, but not by a huge margin.
On the Aluminium/Steel debate, steel is marginally quieter than Aluminimum in most cases, but it weighs twice as much, so that's worth bearing in mind.

It's only quieter in the sense that it produces fewer vibrations, but that should be obvious...

Could not agree more. No more awkward hand positions to stick cables on mobo. On my lexa case, i had to remove my psu to just fit in the 4 pin connector for mobo as the thermalright cooler was too big for my hand to get right in.

Yep the 3D Aurora is a large case. lol. BUT it is labeled as a FULL tower and they ain't kiddin. :P I like the aluminum cases now and like I said earlier, the GM is buying aluminum from now on!! :D btw I still want a CM Stacker. I may have to find out where Morty lives.....hehehe. :P

Greg that's what I like about FULL tower cases. The CM-690 is a mid tower but on the bigger side of mid BUT it pales in comparison to the 3D aurora. lol. Lots of space to stick stuff and still get your hands inside to work on things. ;)

I found that thread about degrading,

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17845950

make up your own mind.

Yes they will run fine at stock. It's exactly what happened to my 8500. I had it running at 4Ghz with stock volatges and it was prime stable for 16 hours. Went for 4.2Ghz with 1.375V and that was also prime stable for 16 hours. Went for 4.4Ghz with 1.45v and was prime stable for 4 hours or so before falling over. Went up to 1.5v to get it stable for 12 hours. Went to 1.52v for 4.5Ghz and things started to go wrong. Kept failing on one core after a couple of hours. Went back to 4.4 Ghz and could'nt get stable at all. Same core kept failing. Went back to 4.2Ghz and exactly the same. Tried 4Ghz at stock and it would'nt even boot. It needed 1.375v for 4Ghz then. After that i got fed up with the damn thing and stuck it on the bay. Actually made £20 quid on it as i got it really cheap in the first place. The guy that bought it was doing exactly the same thing as this was his 4th 8500 and he had already had 5 8400's. Since then i have been following the threads over at XS and one guy had a 8400 die after only 1.52v and degredation seems to start from 1.42v onwards. If you have one of these do not go over the VID on the box or you will have problems. Supposedly there is a new batch being released in 3-4 weeks and i will be waiting to see what peoples experiences are with those before buying a E8400.

Thanks for posting that link Greg16! You quoted a problem some seem to have, and to save everyone else time from reading 4+ pages of a different thread, I will quote one of its latest entries which pretty much sums up my opinions now that I've read more about it.
Quote:
The old 65nm 'safe voltages' are still being used for 45nm, even with the stock voltages being much lower. Anyone putting 1.5V through a E8400, especially with air cooling, is asking for trouble.

People are learning the limits of the new technology, which brings the next statement. Looks like now more than ever you need good stable power supplies to regulate systems with such delicate circuitry.

plus when you're OC(ing) to extremes it can be risky.say if your OC(ing) to 4Ghz OC(ing) to 4.4Ghz etc. won't get you much/any more performance

Glad to hear i am of service. As ZoSoIV said, there is no point in sticking a chip past 4ghz. I'm not sure anyone even needs a chip that fast anyway(not for normal day browsing anyway). Only if benchmarking i suppose.

so that's telling me you dont need to up the vcore that high for it to preform high oc's the E8400/E8500 are made to run cooler and from the looks of it dont require all the voltage either. im not sure its a problem as to not knowing to not take it up high on the vcore.

just what ive gotten from it.

Yeah basically. If you're lucky then 3.8/4ghz is achievable on stock voltage.

The weird clicking song seems to be a hard drive problem though...

Rob - my 8200 @3.2Ghz (400FSB) runs completely stable at 1.23750V (by stable - Ive had it run for 24odd hours under Orthos with no errors), the stock is 1.22500, so Ive only had to up it 0.01500V to get a 20% stable overclock - 1.35V sounds high, for basically the same FSB overclock.
