I cost me $20.00 but it was worth it each week the program gets upgraded to combat the new encryptions. Hey if you can't get anything else to work try it out i did and no problems with any backing up since.
are you saying you paid 20 bucks for these 2 programs???? you do know(guess you dont) these are free programs.....

@cincyrob
Missed that one - yes those programs are free and can be downloaded from:
http://www.RipIt4Me.org.

@paulwf
What error are you getting? Give RipIt4Me a go. Here's a guide.

@gus738
Just meant that this one for Region 1 doesn't have Sony's or Macrovision latest crap on it so even if you had an earlier version of AnyDVD for some reason - it would still handle it.

I'm trying AnyDVD now but the it says "AnyDVD is disabled for Drive E:!" for my DVD writer. I tried changing the letter for the drive to "D" but no luck - same result.
How do I get it to enable the drive?

IF HAVING A PROBLEM WITH 6095
People still having the "No DVD Drive Detected" problem can try this beta version:

PER SLYSOFT
http://sandbox.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD6096.exe

if any changes of AnyDVD programing or using a crack,"No DVD Drive Detected"
is what shows up...........

Maybe you have a bad pressing of the movie. Take it back, and exchange it, for another one.

Have you actually tried playing the dvd? I had problems making "back ups" of a DVD but then found I couldn't play it (using VLC) so decided it was a faulty DVD.

That's really odd. Copying serenity just fine. Playing the dvd just fine. Could it be a HDdvd. It doesn't say so on the box.

No I agree with the others - sounds like a bad disc.
Ripping is more sensitive to bad spots on the disc - trying to rip every byte. Players can be more forgiving and pass over them without you even noticing.

It would save HD DVD on the box plus you would need a HD player to play it.

Might try cleaning it off.

What programs have you tried? If you haven't tried RipIt4Me - try that one - uses Decrypter as the ripper - imho it's the best one for 'bad' discs.
