Well, here is yet another puzzling fact:
I had bought devil may cry back in the days of my chipped ps2 and it plays normally! DMC has more TOC than the final fantasy X original I use, so how is that even possible?
No matter y, it would seem that I'm doing sth wrong in the backing up process...But a copy of 1 of my original games, tenkaichi3 to be exact, works perfectly and a spiderman3 iso works with only the graphics rarely behaving just a little strange, without even bothering my gameplay...
Maybe the crappy iso theory is back on the table? Or is there sth I can do to play these games I want so much to!?

Its strange but, some games get stuck at different levels in the game, you may not have got to the level that exeeds the toc, another reason is the dmc backup may have been ripped by the person who copied it to make it smaller

Ripped? Smaller? How do I do that? Maybe that can help me play the games I can't. Also, I read final fantasy X with my pc and in my computer it sais 0 out of 4.28 GB free, which is excactly the size of it's TOC. Does that mean that I can see how big the TOC of each game is just by reading it in the pc, cause if that's the case the games I can't play definitely have a small enough TOC to be played and there is another problem....

yes the pc drive will tell you the toc, 4.28 is the toc for that game, its complicated ripping games, i cant do it myself

It tells u the toc of non-ripped backups too, right? Cause then I'm definitely using a bigger toc game nad still my games freeze...
My diagnose is crappy isos...
But u said u don't have a problem with ur backups, so do u know any good site/program to download isos from/with?

Sorry, all my old backups i bought from a seller in the uk, my newer ones are all torrents, why dont u try different torrents of the same game?

You could still have a laser fault, do not rule that out completely. Try to borrow any originals and back them up to see if they freeze, than u know its the isos.

I have made a backup of 1 of my originals and it works perfectly. Plus, an old backup I bought works perfectly too, and an iso I downloaded doesn't freeze. I've also tried different torrents of the same games and they freeze at the same points, but seing how few torrents of these games are there, they could all be from the same source...
I;ve read somewhere that sometimes there are errors with public tracker torrents, but I don't even know what trackers are, let alone public or private 1s...

Hey guys.

Sorry to barge in your conversation like this.

I have recently modded the switch on my PS3 and it works fine!

But after reading up to 20 pages of the forum and hearing of burning lasers when switching and running the drive with a CD.

I decided to Unmod the console to previous settings.

So I just soldered back the original red and black wires to the motor as how it was before.

I also cut the red sensor wire because I wanted to install a switch to maintain orginal functionality.

But as I resoldiered the two red wires together, my load sensor is not working, and as a result, I cannot run and cd's at all on my PS3.

Has anyone ever had the same problem?

Or do I need to replace that sensor wire thing?

Much appreciated for any help I can get.

Kind regards
James

Hello, there are only 2 things that could cause this, you have not soldered the motor or the sensor wires correctly (try to undo the wires and do them again).

THe other reason is you may have burned out the sensor by sending the power the wrong direction.

Gday mate.

Much appreciated for your help!

The motors are working, because I can hear them moving when I push the eject button.

The wires are soldered on correctly, so I think what the other thing you suggested is that I may have sent the power the wrong way.

In this case.

Is there a way to manually load the cd in?
Or can I go to a electronic shop and look for a replacement cable to connect the sensors together.

As I only cut the red wire, but if I replace it, maybe I can get the sensor to start working again.

Kind regards
James

At the moment I have tried manually loading the CD in the blue ray drive.

I press the eject button.

The motor spins, however the CD does not eject.

Does this mean my motor is busted?
As the motor runs, but the CD only just shifts a bit off the center but does not come out..

Do you think I should just solder back the switches? and run it till my blue ray drive burns out and I need to purchase another blue ray drive.

At the moment, I'm guessing the the bottom motor which ejects the cd out is not working, but the motor which is pushing the cd out is.

So I'm going to resolder the connections hoping this might work out.

Alright mate, Your only option is to buy a new sensor, the other option is to manually eject/insert using batteries and a switch (the 1st option is the best but difficult to find)

if u try and swap the red wire, i doubt it will work, its worth a shot tho

the laser wont break if you operate the switch while the ps3 is off from the back, turn it off eject with switch, then insert with the switch and turn the ps3 on from the back

There is only 1 motor for ejecting and inserting discs. So if you hear a motor sound the problem cant be a broken motor.

I think you did something wrong when putting blu-ray drive back toghether. That can make the disc stuck at certain moment.

And one more question. Does a LED flashes when you put a disc in?

And about burning lasers. If you use the mod correctly you dont have much change to burn your laser. It seems that people who are ejecting discs when ps3 is reading the disc, that after certain time laser dies. So just switch after 8 min 30 or press eject button en then use switch to eject (to swap original -> original)

yes the above poster is correct, u may have assembled the bluray drive lid incorrectly, remove the lid and place it back carefully making sure the plastic parts are placed correctly, those two arms that go up and down at the front of the drive must be correctly positioned. if there is a disk inserted i think they should be up

I think my best bet is just to keep the switch there and possibly lose original functionality.

I actually soldiered a on/off switch to the 3 way switch and a separate on/off switch to the sensor wire to maintain original functionality.

It could be that I soldiered it wrong.

But if everyone says that it is safe to wait until 8mins 30sec then switch the back up ps2, and use the eject button and switch together to swap original discs, then that might be the only way to go.

I just got back from work and time to get my soldering machine into action.

I hope I can get it back to that original mod stage.

Fingers crossed!!

Bad news mate...

My switch works.

But when I load the cd in. Nothing happens.

The ps3 doesn't seem to be reading the cd.

Does this mean that my blue ray dvd drive is kaput?

At the moment, would it be possible to replace the drive and would it be expensive?

Or is there something else I can do?

I have heard reading through some of the posts that it is possible to buy a new laser and replace that part.

*Sigh*

hang on a sec.

How come when I load the CD in first while the back switch is off.

Then flick the switch at the back of the ps3 and turn on. it works?

But when I try to load it while on stand by it won't work?

Is this good news for me?

So All I have to do is load it while the ps3 is off, then turn on the switch to make it run.

Can I do this with PS2 copy games too??

What a relief!!

Sorry to bug you guys once again.

Just a question, because I'm assuming you all have modded switches like mine.

But possibly alot better job than I have.

Is the spinning of the CD meant to be a loud noise?

And should I unplug the switch after the cd is in not to overload power into the mainboard?

Many thanks for all your help guys.

James

(One theory I might have why the cd doesn't load when the ps3 is on, is maybe they might have put on some new firmware that detects this loading thing ? )

No the spinning should not be so loud, it should sound like and mall motor, your disks might be touching something, check that its all put back together correctly,

and yes once the disk is in turn the switch off

Can you load original blu-ray games? and ps2 games?
So does the ps3 only not read the backed up cd's, or also not original CD games?

I'm going to try the load the back ups now.

After turning on,

I am going to wait 8mins 30secs before I do that. (For the laser to stop spinning)

Loading FF10 hopefully will have a big enough TOC to load something like king of fighters 2000.

I just hope that once I plug in my power adaptor for the motor switch it doesn't overload the mainboard.

Here goes!

Actually..

I better wait for you to give me the go ahead before I do that.

I'm just afraid I shouldn't do the switching to the back up cos I'm afraid I might run power as I plug the adaptor in to do the switch after 8mins 30.. what is your advice?

CHeers

James.
