Using ipod nano on windows without formatting ipod

I have an ipod nano with lots of music on it that i want to keep but i put the music on the ipod with a macbook last year so the ipod is formatted for mac and i dont have the macbook anymore and i want to transfer some more music to it from my windows laptop but when i connected the ipod nano and installed itunes it told me that i had to format the ipod nano to windows format to continue but this would erase all the songs already on the ipod which i do not want to lose.

Can anyone tell me if there is any software or patch i can use to make my windows laptop function with the ipod nano without formatting it?
