There's no difference - same version just hosted by Afterdawn.
Yeah it is a big download and when their servers are busy it can take awhile to download even with high speed.
Have you tried burning a data dvd with ImgBurn? How'd that go?

IF IMGburn is not a big download are the drivers up to date, are their conflicts between that and Nero being you noticed roxio which i don't have installed?

No ImgBurn isn't that big of a download at all.
It's a pretty conflict free program.
Use the build mode to add and burn the data

I use ImgBurn instead of Nero for burning dual layer. I think it handles the layer break better.
ImgBurn is a free program developed by LightningUK who also developed decrypter.
If you're getting the trial expired sounds check with the builder on the serial # or did they give it to you- it sounds like a trial was only installed.
You'll need the right (non trial) serial # when you update. Well to at least make sure the right one is entered.
Nero is a big download - the 173 mb would be the one.
I won't worry about the plugins from that link - they're a bit old.

I guess i would just as soon purchase the cd froM Nero, which site is the one to use for that? The window that is coming up is when i try to open a .mov with essentials. I opened up the shortcut for essentials to do a burn and no warning. Why is it on the view and not the burn?
thanks

You can check Nero site about getting a cd but I think thats mostly emailing you a serial #.
In Store must be the best way to buy Nero to get the cd but the problem there is the version would need to be a Vista compatible one - 7.5 version and above. So you might still have to download an update.
In store that would be Ultre Edition Enhanced or Premium Reloaded (depends on the country on the name)
Nero doesn't always support .mov files and to do them you would be using Vision - since this looks like it was an oem (Nero essentials) some of the those only come with trial periods for Vision. The rest of the apps are fine- no trial.
So it may just be best to contact Nero about getting the plugin for Vision.

IS this site just an open site and no ties to Nero?
I see today a ROXIO ad above this post. I used roxio for cd's only on my old pc, so i guess i could go that route. Any comments on Roxio for DVD'S?
Under Roxio's site-System Requirements
Minimum System Requirements:
Microsoft® Windows Vista, Windows XP Home, Professional, or Media Center Edition (Service Pack 2), Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
For Windows XP systems
500 MHz Intel® Pentium III or equivalent; 128 MB RAM
1 GHz Intel® Pentium III or faster processor and at least 256 MB RAM is recommended
For Windows Vista Basic systems, 512 MB RAM
For all other Windows Vista versions, 1 GB RAM
1024x768, 32 bit graphic display
DirectX 9 or higher compatible sound card and graphics card
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or higher
CD-ROM drive to install the software
Optional:
For burning: multimedia compliant CD, DVD, or Blu-ray Disc recordable drive
[b]Quote: For audio capture or playback: 16-bit Windows compatible sound card and speakers
[/b
my video is onboard 6150 nvidia, mabe le, will that support or i need a separate card?
THANKS

Nope no ties to Nero - this is an 'unoffical' Nero forum.
I haven't used Roxio in a long time so can't help to much there but that's one helluva a ram requirement when running Vista and Roxio - 1 gig.
You video card should be fine.
Have you tried ImgBurn yet? Personally I'd try that one first for burning before buying another program. It usually very conflict free.

I have Img downloade to my desktop, just not installed yet, i guess the view files like .mov, was disappointing, not to use Nero, anymore, i guess the builder sod me a bill of goods. I have 2 gigs on the pc, but if i don't need to over use it, i prob won't. Is there a .mov viewer with Imgburn?
After i asked the question before, i started looking over the site some more and did see the unofficial reference, and found a Vista forum also.
thanks
thanks

Yeah I think the version he put on there of Nero is essentials (an oem version) - there are 3 different versions and not all have Vision as standard - just a trial.
Look at Nero's site and look into buying the plugin for Vision - probably alot cheaper then buying Roxio. I'm not sure if Roxio has a feature like Vision.
ImgBurn is just a burning program so all you can do is burn with it - no viewer & it won't help w/ converting the mov file.
A free one that support converting mov files is DivXtoDVD.
Not sure if Vista compatible but it's free and worth a shot.
Save the file to your hard drive then you can use the build mode im ImgBurn to add the video_ts folder to burn.

I assume "vision" means just that, it lets one view, instead of getting the trial period error message?

Actually Vision is the name of the app in Nero that converts several different formats to a dvd compliant dvd. Will also do slideshows, editting, capture video etc.
The veiwer in Nero is Showtime :)

At the present time the "viewer" iswhat i get the trial period warnings on, trying to view Nero essentials. So does that sti revert to the issue of upgrade? I have not tried burning anything, but when i opened the interface, it was all there?
thanks

With the Nero Essentials you'll still have some apps that are fully functional - some might just have a trial like Vision or Recode. Depends on which suite of Essentials you have.
Here's a list of the different suites and what they have - link

Ok looks in product center and see what it has.
In SmartStart click on the icon that has a somewhat looking flame in it in the bottom right hand corner.
The product center. On the top it will list what you have like Nero 7 Ultra Edition.

I don't see the product center, when i put the cursor on the icon with the red flame it says file versiom 3.5.9.0, Nero ag, 4.69mb,Nero smart start, then if i go to nerosmart start, it gives set up options, this says it gives all options under command center for Nero 7 , but i believe that is on my desk top? that does the same thing if i open the essentials icon on the desk top and click help, same window comes up.

Ok you have Nero 7 but not the 'full' retail version.
That's why you get the trial expired bit for Vision. The rest of the applications in Nero that you have are fully functional - only Vision and probably Recode have the trial.

OK
So your quote earlier=

So it may just be best to contact Nero about getting the plugin for Vision.
My biggest concern then is a viewer for .mov, you seem to have access to all this, do you have a way of contacting Nero about this plug in, apparently i can still burn? have not tried anything since thi warning, no need, then if not hw many mb is the downlaod? to the latest version?
thanks
