i was listening to some tunes in the car yesterday, a track started, then the ipod froze up! nothing happened. i left it for a few hours while i was out of the car, but when i got back, it was still on the same screen doing nothing.

i tried a soft re-boot, nothing... i opened the case and disconnected the battery cable, re-inserted it, and switched on the power... i get as far as the dull apple logo (before it goes bright as the power kicks in) it has now bben on this logo for around 16 hours!!

i have tried every thing, but nothing works. it is not recoqnized in windows or itunes. when i plug it into the usb nothing happens (usually itunes starts and a ballon in the lower right telling me ipod connected)

i have done a fair bit of research on this, and found noting like the fault i have... most frozen ipods will either reset or can be formatted in windows!

help me plaese...
