ok so i havnt burned any cds for awhile, but recently i wanted to make a normal audio cd using Nero, now i keep getting a Burn Error.
i thought maybe it was the cds, so i went out and bought some new cds, but i still got the same error with them..
The error is "Could not perform end of Disc-at-once" and "illegal disc"
here is the log:

Hi Mattpasa
Yep you can use a firmware update - here's the latest for your drive - 1.22.
Just download this version - open the zip file and run the .exe. Usually only takes a minute or 2 to flash/update the drive. Reboot and the firmware will be updated.
When updating have no programs running, leave the power on and have no discs in the drive.
I think with the Pioneer firmware it will guide you through the update of installing and updating.

CDR code: 00 97 26 66; OSJ entry from: CMC Magnetics Corporation
If the firmware doesn't do the trick then try switching the media again. The ones you are using are made CMC - not the best. For cd's look for Sony or made in Japan Maxell.

Try taking the burn speed down to 32x also.

File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS'
Roxio and Nero don't always play well so uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool.

Give those a go and let us know.

lol - txs cincy - though guru is questionable :)

Missed the serial # bit!

And here's 2 more things I forgot.
Nero version: 6.3.1.25
Nero can use an update too - update package 1 - 6.6.1.15

CdRomPeripheral : PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112 1.09 JRAID Port 4 ID 0 DMA: Off
Nero doesn't report these controllers correctly so your drive may be in DMA mode but check it just in case. Here's a guide to get you in the right direction but you'll need to look for your controllers - link

One more question, what do you think of Imation CD-R cds? Would these be a good choice or no? These are the original cds that i was using when it stopped working.

Thanks again!!

@binkie7, Karen, for years now I have been using Verbatim CDs...only to find they were in fact made by CMC mag...I posted a thread and was assured they were good quality, NOT like their (CMC mag) DVDs. Cheers.

The Verb cds made by CMC are the only cds that ever give me any bit of trouble & caosters on different drives over the past few years.
So for cds I stay away from Verbatim and stick with Sony or mij Maxell.

I have a pioneer DVD 109 and have never had any problems with the CMC Verbs so I guess it's what the burner likes....it's strange though.

Yeah it is - I'v tried them at least 5 different drives - I've used the verb cds on & off for years. I've had more coasters w/ these cds in 1 year then I've had in say 3 years w/ dvd's :)

Roxio is another burning program.some peolpe love it and some hate it, id say from your problem your hating it..lol if you dont know what it is you have never used it.. your best bet would to go to add and remove programs and remove Roxio. as binkie said it and nero do not work good together. id say if you remove Roxio your problems might be solved. once you remove it run a reg cleaner if you have one to make sure to get rid of everything left over from Roxio

here is a link to a good cleaner

www.ccleaner.com

easy to use and install.

Ok - did the Pioneer drive come with the pc or did you buy it separately? If it came with the pc the pc manufacturer would be the one updating the firmware.

Did you try different discs?

i cannot find any program called roxio on my computer including in the add/remove programs..

my computer was custom built by the place that i bought it from, so i guess it is probably seperate...

i tried the Imation cds this time.

Hmmm here's one more to try - use the dvr-112 - 1.22 - link.

Unless this drive is the dvr-112L which I can't find any firmware updates for.

Are you still able to burn dvd's?

hmm, i found the box that came with the computer when i bought it, it includes boxes for the graphics card, cpu, DVD DRIVE, etc..
on the dvd drive box, it says that the model is DVR-A12XLB..
also on the box, it says for firmware updates, visit this site:
http://www.pioneer.co.jp/product-e/ibs

now i went to here, clicked on DVD-ROM drives, then i scrolled down to where it says DVR-112 series Firmware, in that sub heading, my model is there, could this be the correct firmware?? or is this the same that we have been trying?

i will try that link now aswell..

EDIT:
no that one did not work either.. and i havnt tried dvd's yet.

I'm at a loss on why the drive won't flash to the newer firmware. Target device not found means it's not the right drive so that would possibly mean it's an oem drive but you have the box it came in.

Try the 2nd firmware on that link for the dvr-112.

Besides trying another brand of cd - try burning with another program like real player or windows media player.

Nope that didnt work either, what about the one on top of that one?
its exactly the same model on the box, different from the ones that weve been trying.. so shouldnt it be the right one?
