Just downloaded this version of CLoneDVD. It works very well. Cost is 69.95. Free 14 day trial. Decrypter included. Takes about the same amount time to make a copy as DVD Shrink & DVD Decrypter does. After downloading, I found this is NOT a product of Slysoft.com. CloneDVD 4, is a product of DVD X STUDIOS. This product will most likely be removed from the market since the decrypter is built into the software. It would not be a good idea to purchase it! All remarks welcome!

I started out with DVDXCOPY GOLD, then Platimum, by 321 Studios. I much of spend a few hundred on that junk! Ha! Before the government finally shut them down. After I finished up all my reactivations, I started using, 1 Click DVD Copy. Now I use CloneDVD2, w/AnyDVD. Great stuff! I've tried several of the free programs, they seem to take too long to do the job. Yeah, I know better quality, right. In most cases, I'm happy with the results of the pay types.
In regard to your comment, which companies CloneDVD were you speaking of? I was under the impression, this Japanese company was new at the game. Using Slysoft's trademark to market their own software.

Ok, thanks for you comments!

What program/s do you use? Any of these? DVDRebuilder, DVD shrink, Imgburn, DVDFAB Decrypter, DVD Decrypter, VobBlanker, FixVTS, IFOEdit, PGCedit, Menushrink, procoder2, recode. And in what combination? I like FREEWARE, too! But, some of the pay types do a wonderful job; When I don't feel like doing a bunch of editing. Cheers!

Yeah, oh well, it's only money, right? Since I have alot of it...might as well spend it. LOL
When 321 Studios DVDXCOPY plat. came out the price tag on that was $149.95!!! But, that was back in the early days of my computer experience. Learned just a little bit since then.

most of them i have used. i use clonedvd 2 + anydvd 99.9% of the time though and its about 60.00 not 70.00 but there should be a coupon code coming any day now that gets the price to about 49.00 for the combo. just use the 21 day free trial till then

heres some info

read on the forums also

dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, isn't updated anymore so they need the help of an updated ripper like dvd fab decrypter(freeware) or anydvd(free trial but you pay after 21 days) for it to work.

ripit4me was pulled from the sites but still works on most movies. heres that guide(freeware)

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110

so you have several choices you can use dvd fab to rip dvd shrink to transcode and dvd decrypter or nero to burn ,this is all freeware.

or

you can use the easiest program out there clonedvd 2 + anydvd (free 21 day trial) This is my pic. you can download here

remember to use good blank media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning no faster then 8x on a clean machine without other programs running while burning. updated firmware for you're drive/burners helps also

Thanks, for all the information! I did Download and tried most of these programs. Will watch out for the coupon codes before purchasing. I do like the Clone2/AnyDVD programs for ease of operation. Still looking for the right combination of the free programs to use. I burned a few DVD's using DVD Decrypter, or DVDFAB Decrypter, Shrink, IMGburn. I buy alot of my media from Meritline, Newegg, and techgeek. But, always do a Google low price search. Just ordered a new NEC DVD-ROM to take some of the work away from my burner. My burner is a NEC ND-3540A. The firmware has been updated. Has done a fine job, no complaints with this drive. Regards!

Fine business, thanks!

Just downloaded the new Nero 8 earlier, been playing around with it ever since. So far, I like it. Lots of toys, hee! hee! First time using nero. Looks like recode works simular to shrink? Checked out the Nero burning ROM. Good one! Used AnyDVD with that. Do you know much about Nero? One thing I did question is why DVD Shrink uses 100% of my CPU's power! Not good! And Nero burning ROM only uses 2% to 9%. Seems Shrink is very hard on the CPU. Checked this with my Task Manager's Performance tap in system tray.

Yes recode is a transcoder like dvd shrink

I use nero 7.8.5.0 with no problems. mostly the DVD Burning ROM

reason is dvd shrink is a transcoder and nero dvd burning rom isn't. a transcoder is harder on you're CPU. how does clonedvd 2 affect the CPU ?. and what are you're system specs? if its an older machine I'm sure thats part of the problem

Ok, CloneDVd is pulling approximately 45% CPU power during transcoding, and 4% to 12% while Writing. I guess Nero wins that one. Shrink is CPU murder! LOL Not sure it's a good idea using it if it pulls power like that. The CPU surely isn't cheap. My computer is about 3 years old. Here's the specs. HP Media Center M1070N, Windows XP Pro SP2.(CPU) Pentium 4, 2.8GHz, hyperthreading. Good for multitasking. PC3200 (400MHz). Ram is 2G. 128 video card. sound is integrated 5.1. I'm planing on buying a new computer early next year. Most likely another HP Media Center. Justing waiting until all the third party software makers catch up with Windows Vista. This has been a good computer. I use the hell out of it. Ha!

I wouldn't necessarily say Nero wins, let the finished product quality have a bit of weight and things seem to weigh a little bit towards Clone.

When I was saying Nero wins, I was referring to the power draw on my CPU. Where Shrink pulls 100%, DVDClone2 pulls about 4% to 12%. And Nero only pulls 4% of CPU power. I checked this with Windows Task Manager, Performance tap. I didn't mean Nero was a better product than the rest. I'm sure it's not. I wouldn't know away, since I'm new to DVD Backup. I have noticed some features, if checked, will include a deeper and slower record. So, I imagine doing this will give better quality results. It's appears it's all about time, the longer it takes, the better the quality. I have also read some comments in the different Forums about combining other programs to achive even better quality. Although, I'm not that far, yet. I need to learn how to use, FixVTS, IFOEdit, PGCEdit, Menushrink, VobBlanker. I'm sure with alot of patience, I'll get there some day. LOL I hope! Thank you, for your comments. Regards!

I did take an 80 hour Computer Building class last year at my local high school, adult classes during the evening. I did learn quite alot there. I found it's much more expensive to build you own computer. Small companies like Alien build to specs. Bigger and better Mobo's, dual CPU's Raid 0+1 dual hard drives, SCSI interface, Server size cases with a lot of fans, etc. I think the biggest thing I don't like about buying a commerial computer is the fact that they load all those crappy third party programs on the hard drive. And you end up having to spend an hour removing them everytime you do a System Recovery. Regards!

Thanks, I'll try this out next time I do a Recovery. Do you think this is a better program than Norton Ghost?
I've though about building my own computer, many times. But, get confused on what and which components to buy. There are so many different types. I guess a good place to start is the Mobo. Perhaps you can give me some choices. I like making DVD Backup's. I love music! Making CD's. Listening to music on my computer. Need a Mobo which supports a digital LCD monitor. I currently have the Logitech Z-680 speaker system. But, only using intergrated sound. The digital output part of the speaker system does work. But, don't know enough about this to fix it. So, would need a machine which handles all this well? This is why I always buy Media's Center PC's. I checked with HP, for me to buy a new system with a 19" LCD digital monitor. will cost me anywhere between $1500. and $2200. Plus, I would most likely buy a new speaker system. Something around $600.
