Online I got some good deals on memory at archmemory.com. Your local stores might have some good prices too.

Nero is not great at converting AVI files.
You might want to give another converter a try.
Also try Imgburn to write the ISO file.

I concur, Nero can be horrible at converting AVIs- freeze during playback, A/V out of sync, or plain failure. I would try DVD Flick, is free:

Ditto that guys...
I dunno what codec Nero uses but it's absolutely shocking for an otherwise pristine application. They really need to fix that.

Cyrpus beat me to it but yeah... use DVDFlick :)
Best freebie around.

Jake you shouldn't have to do anything, it should burn by itself.

Try this:

Click on Project Settings> go to the Burning Tab> And Check the boxes next to the following: Create ISO, Burn to Disc, Delete ISO after Burning.

Give your DVD a label and select the recorder you want to use and that should do it. When it reaches the finalize stage, Img Burn will automatically start up and begin burning to disc by itself.

i did your tips, but to no avail. it gets to the point were it says burning to disc and then img burn pops up, i don't mess with img burn because i don't know how to use it and just let it go but i let it go for over 12 hours from last night through the morning and still nothing happened, so i have no idea what's wrong.

Nothing happened?
When Img Burn starts it up it also displays a little log (or it should do normally), copy that info here and we might see what the problem is.

Does the burn process start at all or is it just frozen at 0%?

i'll try it again and then post the log if it doesn't work.
i don't think it freezes because the elapsed time keeps going and going, but it just says burning to disc the entire time and never makes progress.
and with imgburn it freezes up if i try to do things and it won't respond unless i leave it alone for like 20 minutes then it works, but i think im gonna set the speed on imgburn and whatnot before hand and then save it and see how it works.

and is the log the thing i posted earlier a few days ago or is it something else for imgburn?

and also, when imgburn pops up should i just leave it alone and not touch it or fiddle with it and the settings/files etc?

If you are trying to burn DVDs, you should convert to NTFS. Also, even though DVD Flick might be able to start the burn with ImgBurn, it is better if you have DVD Flick save the DVD compilation to hard disk(as a folder, not as an ISO) and then burn with Nero Burning Rom. The files in the hard disc folder, individually, will not be larger than 4GB, unlike the ISO.
But you should convert your drive.

on that link you gave me i'm a bit confused, i do what it says and it makes a bootable floppy and i boot it up and it just goes to nero burning rom, and i get nothing that says anything about installing like in the directions or cancelling it and it leading me to maintenance.

I have never done a conversion myself. My understanding is that is a rather simple procedure, and it can be done without any data loss. The link I gave you seemed rather informational. Try a google search for Fat32 to NTFS conversion, or even here on AD.

i actually found a simpler way.
i just went to my computer, clicked my local disc d and clicked format and changed the FAT32 to NFTS and it converted it.
so should i just try again now?

and i also have a question about my drive d. it's only a 3.62 gb drive for my wireless internet connection when geakquad installed it here so i can get reception from the router from the computer in the other room, so my question is how is that factoring into this? i thought my drive e(my dvd burner) would be the thing i need to do and whatnot but i guess not, i dunno its puzzling to me haha.

You are puzzling me too...!
The computer that you have your DVD burner on, and all the software installed, how much space is on the hard drive disc, just the 3GB? That is not nearly enough. Or is this the computer you use for internet and then you have a different one with your DVD burner in?

my c drive is 70gb and i've only used 11 so i have 59 free
but my drive d is used for nothing more than an internet connection, and has 3.62gb on it, its just some netgear product geaksquad gave me once we got more computers and got wireless internet, the only purpose of it is for internet, it has nothing on it at all that's why im confused on to why that is a burning problem when its purpose is nothing more than an internet signal.
and my drive e is my dvd burner and its not a factor at all and that puzzles me.
and all these are on my one computer that i use. i use this for internet and for burning, but it just won't burn dvd's since i bought the burner.

That's where your problem I think it is. Just type CMC Mag in the "Search" tab, and you will see whan I am talking about. Your firmware is up to date, you just need better discs. Get some Verbatims or Sony's, if you shop online, get Taiyo Yuden.
CMC Mag is a manufacturer for many brands-Memorex, Imation, HP,...here is a list of discs you should stay away from:

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmed...h+or+List+Media

Some of those brands, like Maxell, also have some decent media, but is hard to know what you get, so go with Verbatim or Sony.

your disks are CMC MAGs....... not good...... those disks are not as compatible or less quality than Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Starting off with more compatible/better quality disks make all the difference.
and this by me

With this quote, you have answered your problem, the discs you are using CMC mag are poor quality ...no matter how much you try with these your burn will fail as it appears you've got yourself a "bad batch".....give up til you get new discs as advised.
