I am new here and I don't know much about DVD ripping so don't flame me please :D

I have a Music DVD i want to rip to the computer in iPod format. I Have DVDFab 4 and Handbrake. I have ripped the Music Videos with DVDFab and they are perfect quality. BUT! There are 2 chapters in the title and they are Commentary and No commentary. I have ripped the commentary! There is a choice of 1-2 chapter or 1-1 or 2-2 chapter to rip. I have done all of them and they all have commentary! So i decided to use Handbrake. It did it, with no commentary, YAY! BUT! (lol) They came out crappy quality and there was like static noise like a radio and the videos also had like a no signal TV stuff on them. Could anyone help me and Is there a program that Rips DVDs to iPod in H.264+AAC quality and can rip the right chapter!

Dale.

I'm unclear as to what is exactly on the disk.
'Chapters' generally refer to way a movie 'Title' is divided into logical scenes - as when you press the 'skip' button on the remote.

I would expect there to be one title with perhaps one or more audio tracks?
One way is to load the ripped files into DVD Shrink (run DVD Shrink, 'Open Files' and browse to the 'VIDEO_TS' folder on the hard drive) it might list the audio tracks on the right.
A commentary track would be smaller than the main track.
You can select the track you want and 'Backup' to the hard drive and test it to see if it's the one you need.
After that you have to use software to convert it to your desired format.

Thanks for your reply. This DVD is All region Coded, would it have protection on it? And would DVDShrink be able to remove the protection because it is older than my DVD itself? EDIT: DVDShrink is to complicaated, could you tell me how to rip certain videos and not the whole DVD? And I also saw 2 Channels on Audio on that video. I don't know which on is the proper and commentary. Oh and I played the DVD in Windows Media Player and thats where I got the Titles and Chapters from.

The 'All Regions' indication means that it will play on any DVD player in any of the arbitrary 'Regions' that the industry has divided us into.
These disks can also be played without problems on the PC.

Take care if you happen to have a commercial DVD which is coded for a region other than your own. It's best not to play these disks on the PC.
The DVD player in the PC allows only so many of the 'wrong' region before locking to that region only - your PC player then will only play that regions disks - your own regions disks will not play..

Region coding, is different from DVD protection.
Most manufactured DVD's have protection that must be removed before backing up the files.
DVD Shrink should not be used for ripping todays protected disks - it has not been updated in that respect for years.

Use 'DVD FAB HD Decrypter' to rip any DVD to the hard drive and you will have the bonus that the region coding is also gone.

DVDFab HD Decrypter
Run program, insert disk, select 'Main Movie' or 'Full Disk'

http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm

Load the ripped movie into DVD Shrink.
Look at the right where the audio is listed.

This pic of the Simpsons Season 2, shows english audio tracks of different sizes.I would guess that the larger is the normal audio - but I won't know for sure until it's saved.

Click the 'Re-author button' and drag title 1 from right to left, then click that logo with the arrows pointing both ways.
Select the chapter(s) you want.
Click the 'Compression setting' tab.

In this pic, you see that there are two audio's I can choose.
The larger file is the normal audio for this chapter, the smaller is commentary.
I know this because I saved it and tested it.

Now click 'Backup' and choose to save the new DVD folder to the hard drive.
Test it with your media player before burning.
