I bought the new dvd "The Eye" today, and am trying to back it up, Ive tried everything to rip it, various decrypters...Movie Only, Custom, etc...no luck.

Using DVDFab 5.0.2.8 I can get to the LAST 7 seconds..and then it hits read errors. The disk is PERFECTLY clean, just FYI.

I tried on my laptop, which usualy will rip most anything my tower wont...still nada.

Any thoughts?

Picking this one up tomorrow.

I'm not expecting any trouble with it.

@lwprofile
Try disabling pathplayer, see if that helps.

sounds like a bad disc if the last 7 seconds won't transcode

I tired another disk.. I always try other disks of the movie and other drives/computers if I run into trouble like this. And two of my buddies, called and also could not rip it, one of them couldnt even get it going...all brand new disks.

I did NOT try anyDVD/clone, as I took that off my computers several months ago, as it was causing compatibility problems, and I only had a free trial version...wasnt impressed really

Is there an updated version, or ....?

Im not new to this FYI, Ive been burning DVD for 4 years, and VCD (bang head) for 3 years before that....this is the first movie I have not been able to rip somehow, someway. Friends bring me hard to rip movies and I can always figure out a way.

Watched this last night, and it sucked, so not to concerned, but Im am stumped as to why I cant rip it.

If someone will direct me to a free download of AnyDVD...I will certainly give that a try.

Ive read this forum often over the last year, I decided I really should join ;)

Thanks guys

I have the newest version of any dvd & clone dvd & firmware updated. The drive is only about 30 days old and all other movies read fine. My drive with not recognize the movie "the eye" at all. Does anyone know if a new version is on the way that will help with this?

Anydvd has a 21 day free trial period. When that expires you either buy it, or it's done.

....if you read what I said, you would see I said I DID have it, and since I DID NOT like it, I ditched it...and wont be purchasing it. Ive been fine without it for every movie Ive ever done.

FYI, after further research...the movie "The Eye" has a new form of encryption in the last Vob file. Im guessing we will start seeing more of these "hidden" road blocks. I got my laptop to bypass the errors in the last 7 seconds of ripping, rip it clean, and then after using FreeDVD to free it up, I re-encoded it, and finally..it burned.

clonedvd doesn't rip. you rip with either anydvd or dvdfab decrypter. clonedvd is a transcoder with a burning engine.also dvd shrink doesn't burn its a ripper/transcoder only you have to burn with clonedvd or nero or imgburn. looks like you need to read my thread/post to get better informed. Exactly why I don't post in these forums! Some people!

yes repaddict we care on posting correct info here.

if someone used your process they would be posting back asking why clonedvd isn't ripping the movie? and why won't dvd shrink burn? so we like getting it right the first time saves confusion

This is what you said, word for word, not the same as what you posted here.

As Zoso said Anydvd/CloneDvd backedit up fine as I did it with Anydvd/ripit4me. So being this is so far the only technic that can back up The Eye, why are you still unimpressed ?Being unimpressed with the movie is another matter (which i agree)
