Is Field Of Dreams one of the disks that is heavily scratched? Scratches also give bad read/bad sector errors.

i think i have solved the problem.
the disks that i have been "wasting" actualy work on my computer.
i will bring them over to a friends house and see if they play on there dvd player. the one in my living room now if a cheep $19.99 dvd player i bought at wall mart. if might work in a better dvd player...after all, the disks did work in my computers dvd player.

If the disks you are using are dvd+r, then you need to set 'book typing', as that will trick your dvd player into thinking the dvd is a 'dvd rom' and may play it then. Even if it's a cheap one....nothing wrong with that!!

Sounds like you have a bad disc.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I find that discs of all flavors work better in my "el cheapo" player than in my expensive player
