Shrink and PS3 problem

I have ripped several dual layer DVDs with Shrink and they have all come out perfectly. I want to stream them or copy them to a PS3 so I use NO compression. On a couple of these DVDs, Moulin Rouge for example, the PS3 reports a file size of only the first layer, 2.8 Gb when the whole VOB file is 5.8 Gb. The movie plays perfectly on a PC with VLC, but stops right at the layer change spot on the PS3 (obviously, that's where the data ends!) Has anyone seen this? Any solutions?

are you playing them off of an external or internal HDD? because i know you cant have files over the size of 4GiB on external.

maybe thats contributing to the problem.
