How are yall treating the AnyDVD option of "Use CSS archive?" The latest version Of AnyDVD in the archive keep a list of my dvds that I have backed up, by name. Do you keep the option Checked (In Use) or unchecked? I wonder if anyone has access to the stored info and what use is it for me. Seems that when the movie is decrypted, AnyDVD didn't know the CSS on my PC but then adds it. I'm going to uncheck itand see how it works.

LOL! All be darned. Mine apparently was checked by default. I have quite the list going. But I also manually produced my own list for my records. I find it easier to open a text document of what I own, when I want to watch a movie. Believe it or not, I spoke over half of my list using dragon naturally speaking. Wonderful program. Windows 7 employs a similar speech recognition software. Not quite as good as dragon, but close ;)

The only thing about using the css archive is, not every dvd is css encrypted. Granted its rare. I believe the last one was "Eleventh hour" with patrick stewart.

There's also one other unfortunate occurrence

When you click the options you see some direct help. The archive makes it much
easier for AnyDVD to process either the same DVD a second time or a DVD with
similar CSS keys.

I intend to turn the option off in beta 6646 and delete the entries. If I've processed a disc one time, then if I want another copy, I copy my copy with no new processing needed by AnyDVD. I would almost bet money that Slysoft has the ability to read the info in the CSS folder from each of our programs.

I've done 4 backups with CSS all disabled and it had no effect on AnyDVD's ability to decrypt any.

I was under the impression, that using the archive, simply sped things up in the future. E.g. a similar encryption, or having to decrypt the same disc again. If its slysoft's software, why would you worry about big brother? :)

If slysoft can crack the toughest encryptions on a DVD, RIAA wouldn't be too put out about by gaining access to Slysoft software info. Cookies and $hit are everywhere. Still haven't figured out how my local bank pops up and embeds ads in afterdawn-sure they haven't paid a cent.

That's illegal! If they do $hit like that, then they're crossing some pretty serious lines! Hacking, breaking and entering, I really don't see the difference here. Our governments have become scum...

Ads on afterdawn don't surprise me. Afterdawn has to maintain their servers somehow ;) Though a certain software is capable of blocking them :D

Thanks, I turned mine off as well.
FYI AdBlock Plus, a Firefox add on kills all the pop-up ads. I don't see anymore AD ads or other annoying pop-ups. (Unless I want to, then I hit the allow feature for a particular web site)

@Blivet

Thanks I installed AdBlock Plus. Does it require much configuration. I haven't time now to check-going to bed.

It must, since my bank is still popping up. LOL I don't even bank on line!

Edit OK installed a filter-Fanboy-since that was highlighted to start- works great, thanks again, now to bed.

First things first. Gotta reinstall windows...
