Going from HDMI to DVI or from DVI to HDMI is a smooth, clean process. They are essentially the same thing except that DVI offers higher resolutions for huge PC screens, while HDMI offers audio over the same cable (although most DVI now offer this anyway).

If you are referring to the Samsung 2233RZ, then it will not work, as it does not support 1080P. You probably will get an image on the screen if you turn the system down to 720P (the maximum resolution for 3D on the PS3 is only 720P anyway), but it will be all stretched out.

I'm afraid that good 3D screens are not cheap. There are a few 3D-capable screens that are not sold as "3D", but they are not supported by the PS3 because Sony intentionally blocked the older HDMI format in order to force people to buy new TVs to watch 3D when they already have 3D.

The PS3 does support 120hz...and it should work just fine with higher rate screens like 240hz units.

What to look for:
At least HDMI 1.4
At least 120hz
Should support 1920×1080 (not 1680x1050). 1280×720 would work just fine for 3D, but it will not support 1080P for games (not really a big issue on any screen under 24") You want a ratio of 16:9, not 16:10.

I am not going to drop any serious money on 3D until I can use it for at least 4 hours at a time, so current 3D has virtually no appeal to me. I have a 3D capable 24" screen on my PC...and I still don't own the glasses because I don't think current-gen 3D is worth $100 given the limitations. (I didn't buy it because it was 3D, I bought it for the refresh rate, and the refresh rate is fast enough for 3D)

That said, I can certainly understand the appeal of playing a 3D game in 3D...and if I could wear the glasses for extended periods safely, I would be playing GT5 in 3D.
