What version of CCE are you using? There is a "badly cracked" version floating around that has changed the ECL headers and will not work correctly.

What can I say? Some pirates just suck at what they do.

ECLCCE is only used for older versions of CCE. For newer versions (like v2.70) you point directly to the CCE executable.

Hey everybody :)

I recently decided to use RB (Got an email with an update to 1.10 so it resparked my interest).

But, CCE isn't encoding correctly, here is a couple of files that might be of interest.

EDIT by Pop_Smith:

My picture of the Rebuilder.ini file was too small to read so here is the text.

When you say it "isn't encoding correctly" what exactly do you mean?

Sorry jdobbs I should have elaborated more.

When DVD-RB gets to the "Encode" phase it runs quickly though the encoding, which maybe due to a setting problem I am guessing.

Here is the Program Status window when I encode anything using DVD-RB

It's sounds like ECLCCE hasn't been setup yet. The first time you run it you have to do it directly so you can point it to CCE. You may want to try that again. After it runs once and has been redirected it will find CCE on its own and act as a go-between.

Is there any chance CCE may have been moved or removed since the last time you set it up?

Hi! I understand that DVD RB should shrink the DVD9 to DVD5 at the end. But the ending result I keep getin is for some reasons have the same size as original. Anyone now what that could be? Cheers

Just a question if anyone knows, my CCE SP 2.67 will run minimized but my CCE basic and CCE SP 2.70 will not, anyone have this problem or know what causes it?

Recently my computer was attacked by a virus so I did a fresh install of windows and dvd rebuilder/cce 2.67.
When I use dvd-rebuilder I select the option: One Pass VBR (w/ analysis) and it works great for some movies, but then with other movies it doesn't shrink the size of it at all. For instance, a recent movie I tried to backup was 6.36 GB total, and it went through the total prepare/encode/rebuild process without any error messages, but the outcome was a 6.63 GB file.

So how do I get this to be less than 4.7 gb in size?

What version of DVD Rebuilder are you using? If it is the freeware version there are a few (very few) ILVU discs that can't be shrunk. The freeware version copies ILVU segments intact, so if, for example, the entire disc was ILVU (e.g. Invader Zim) the freeware version can't be used. The Professional Edition reencodes ILVU sections, so it can work.

Just to reiterate, though, those discs are very rare.

Actually, it is the pro version. The reason I select 1 pass vbr w/ analysis is because i feel it gives better quality that 3 or 4 passes with the advanced settings. The disc is actually V for Vendetta. If I select "main movie only" from the settings and I actually have the full movie files on my hard drive, would that screw it up? Maybe I should try to do the full mode?

I am using dvd-rb and CCE SP (not the trial version) to compress some dvd files which I ripped to my HD to make backups. The dvd files are around 7 gb or so to start with, and I run them through dvd-rb in CCE Mode with normal settings. 394 minutes go by, new DVD Files are created, everybody happy! Just one problem:

The dvd files are 4496 megabytes, and when I try to burn them to dvd using Nero 7 It says my DVD-R will only hold 4489 megabytes.

So the output files are 7 megabytes to big. Is there any way to fix this within dvd rebuilder? or should I just use burning rom to burn them and enable disc overburning? This is an episodic dvd, but when I put the original files into DVD Shrink it came up as one menu file and one title file. Any reccomendations on how to fix this problem?

Ideally I would like to have the output file from DVD Rebuilder be 4489 megabytes.

Thanks for any help.

You're probably using Kaspersky Antivirus. It causes this problem with several applications (not just DVD-RB).

Although I don't personally use Kaspersky, here is a solution that was provided by someone who does:

"If you have Kaspersky installed, then open it and click on settings. Then click at the top on "Protection". There in the middle click on "Trusted Zone" and the click on "Trusted app". Then Add DVD Rebuilder, CCE, HC, and then DVD Decrypter."

It should work ok then.

Alternatively you can just disable Kaspersky.

I think it may sometimes be distributed under other names (but I'm not positive). Are you using an AntiVirus package? The Kaspersky problem has been reported to cause problems with CCE and HC also.

Damn...

I just reread you post -- and I've been answering the wrong question anyway.

If you are using CCE v2.70.2.10 -- there seems to be a strange version floating around that has an odd header. If that's what is happening in your case you might try adding this to the "[Options]" area of your REBUILDER.INI file:

CCE_Trial_Header="; Cinema Craft Enc. SP -- Encoder Control List"

If that's not it -- recheck and make sure you have clicked the correct selection under SETTINGS/CCE SETTINGS. As a last resort, save an ECL file (a Project) from CCE and look at the header in the file (you can edit it with NOTEPAD) and set the line (above) accordingly.

u lost me a little bit there.
where is this rebuilder.ini file, how do i edit it and where do i put that header in the options section.

yeah i'm using 2.70.2.10. i did read somewhere about changing the header in the rebuilder.ecl file that is in the d2vavs folder.
i have it set to CCE sp trial in the CCE options so it says "CCE SP Trial Version -- Encoder Control List" as the header in the rebuilder.ecl file.
how do i save a ecl file in CCE, and how will that effect how dvd-rb works, could you explain in a bit more detail please.
has anything i said about the rebuilder.ecl file got anything to do with what you said?

Open the file REBUILDER.INI with notepad (it is located in the DVD-RB executable directory, usually that is "C:\Program Files\DVD-RB" for the freeware version and "C:\Program Files\DVD-RB Pro" for the Professinal Edition. Then look for the section of entries in an area headed by a "[Options]" cut the command from the post above, and past it into that section. Save it. It will then use that header for CCE SP Trial encodes.

Note that INI files in DVD RB are clearly labeled "Rebuilder, configuration settings."

hey sophocles .. brobear (if still a/r); apologize to all/moderator since this question is probably out of context for this thread but does get much attention, anyway ..

purchased averatec 17" laptop and upgraded w/ Athlon MT-37 (2.0Ghz), 2gb Kingston PC3200 sticks and Seagate 80gb 7200.1 HDD. note: lost my entire rig in Katrina & am still recovering.

Will this laptop run dvd-rb v1.2 w/ procoder2/cce-sp 2.70 or should i just resort to a transcoder (i.e.recode2 or 1clickpro)? is it possible w/ proper Lap cooler? note: ran stress program for 2hrs & cpu core kept steady a/r 62c (+/- 2c) utilizing Speedfan.

Thanks so much for all yr help 2-3yrs ago and whoever asst. w/ RB installer. has really matured since then; a new rig will be in the near future, but just wondering.

Experience, as always, very much appreciated,

You won't break any speed records but your laptop should be able to run RB just fine. I would suggest running it at night while you sleep so that you don't tie up your PC. I figure it should probably take about 4 hours for an encoded to complete. If the movie is only slightly larger in size than your media then a transcoder of your choice should do just fine.

I'm sorry to hear that you got hit by Katrina. I live in Florida and I understand the devastation that a Hurricane can cause. Best Wishes.
