I haven't tried, still muxing....after it's done I will use tsMuxer to create a Blu-ray disc (AVCHD). And then burn it as UDF using ImgBurn. I'll let you know though. :)

FYI you can test it before you burn it. There is a folder called Stream inside the BDMV foler. Inside there is a m2ts file (probably named 0001.m2ts). You can test it on your computer just to see if the audio is in sync before you use up a burned disc.

Good luck!

Yup, I know that. Okay, now I have the m2ts and a meta file. I don't know if the meta file is needed, I'm thinking I should delete it. Anyway, I tried playing the M2TS file with Nero and it worked without audio. :(

I posted this in new thread but haven't received any help....thought I'd repost it here.....

I have successfully backed-up 5 or 6 of my BR movies onto HDD for streaming to PS3 and they work great. The easiest method is pulling straight from BR disc using tsmuxer (assuming I don't have to convert audio) then renaming to .mpg. I've come across 2 titles now which my sony reader BDU-x10s fails to read all the way through. I've tried the above mentioned as well as straight copy to HDD and they always fail at the same point partially through the process as if it's a bad disk. But the disks were brand new, tried cleaning, and no scratches. Using AnyDVD HD rip to disk is the same. I've read posts suggesting others were able to back-up these titles. Movies will play all the way through using POWER DVD. Any thoughts as to what it could be would be appriciated..................................................................... Update....If I play the moive normally with Power DVD it works fine but if I play the m2ts file directly from the BD disc using Power DVD it also abruptly terminates at the same point into the movie. Is this some kind of copyright protection? .....................Another update.....Updated firmware on Sony BDU-x10 hoping to correct issues. Didn't work. Still only able to get partial movie to HDD. Partial movie that finishes is good and streams fine to PS3 but no matter what method is used fails partially through (Live Free Or Die Hard at 39min 24 Sec). I'd be happy to give more info if someone would please try to help..............

The main movie might be on several m2ts files. When playing the movie does the time bar end abruptly across the middle or does it goe all the way to the end as if it was the end of the file.

If it is multiple m2ts files, using tsMuxeR open the corresponding MPLS file in the Playlist folder, this will append all of the neccesary files for one big one, choose your audio stream, then remux back to m2ts. Use that file to stream.

Which program do I need to use to transfer only main movie (without menues or special features) from BluRay disc to HDD?

Like I'm using DVD shrink or Nero Recode 2 to transfer main movie to HDD.

Thanks.

You can use tsMuxeR with AnyDVDHD running in the background.

Yes, as long as the video stream is a Blu-ray compliant resolution.

No it's one big 00000.m2ts just over 32gigs. When playing the m2ts file it stops abruptly at this certain point. I'm able to do others just fine. I haven't seen a problematic list of blu-rays floating around as you have with dvds so I don't know if its some kind of trick where when played out of its normal structure it fails. Or it's a bad disc (but why does it paly fine if played normally with power dvd). Is there a way to ignore read errors? Or the blu-ray drive (a week old) is having issues reading it. I assumed it was a bad disk when it happened the first time but am doubting after two different titles both scratchless and clean.

It must be a bad rip then, I'm not sure what else it could be.

I have the original in hand. When I make the attemps to back-up I am pulling from the BR not a HDD copy. I cannot get it to HDD. So are you saying it's definitly not a protection on the BR disk? Is this a title that can be backed-up? At least I could eliminate one of the possibilities. I read a post somewhere to the evvect that BR discs are know to have alot of bad sectors from the manufacturing process. Is this true?

Hey guys, quick question, ive been doing mkv reencodes to m2ts for ps3, using ryu77 profile, and the quality is great, compared against the source....quick questions though....

- ryu77 profile bitrate default is 8000, now most of my re-encodes were done at around 7000 and still look great, is 8000 just a good starting point?...im thinking if the bitrate calculator works out the bitrate to be under 8000, i may just change the bitrate to 8000 manually (for optimum quality), i dont care much about file sizes and time taken for rencodes... what do most think is a good bitrate for their movies...or does it vary???

- is there anyway to make these movies play at 1080/24p using ps3 (without creating a blu ray structure (ie streaming).....as on my tv, 24p = much smoother picture with less motion blur:)

thaks for all the help everyone, i can nearly re=encode anything to ps3 compliant streams after all the help on these forums!

There are a lot of people on these forums (and others) that behave like little Kids and will knock Blu-ray at any chance they get (because they can't afford it yet, they feel the need to rubbish it). I personally have not come across one disc that has any problems yet. Actually Blu-ray discs are manufactured with a hard, protective coating that are more durable than regular DVD's.

The default is there as most Blu-ray movies re-encoded to fit onto a DVD-9 will be "about" 8000Kbs. Please use the bitrate calculator to work out the exact bitrate that will fit onto a DVD-9. You will need to load in your audio stream and also allow 6% for the Blu-ray headers. So target final file size should be as follows...

DVD-5 (Single Layer): 4,210 MB
DVD-9 (Dual Layer): 7,660 MB

I am almost certain that 24fps "True Cinema" mode will only work when the PS3 detects a BD/AVCHD disc.

I just want to say thanks to the people who contributed to this thread. I've been reading through it (as well as the PS3 compatibility thread) over the past week or so, and I've learned a lot. I have run into a snag so I will try to provide all of the information that odin, Ryu et al will need.

I have a couple of videos (mkv, x264-720p, ac3) that I need to reencode. I had the problem of audio but no video on my PS3 (I stream m2ts files renamed to mpg extensions over Windows Media Player, or sometimes Tversity), and MediaInfoRaw revealed that it had too many ref frames and bframes to be PS3 compatible (as Ryu said in a previous post).

I was trying to use MeGUI, and downloaded version 0.3.0. However when I start it up, I get an error message that says:
MeGUI encountered a fatal error and may not be able to proceed. Reason: startIndex cannot be larger than length of string.
...and it gets a lot longer from there. Once I click Ok, it will actually start up fine, but when I click "Start" after queueing up my script and what not, it just says error in the Status column of the Queue tab.

To work around this, I downloaded a file that Ryu posted some time ago that had MeGUI (v0.2.6.1046) with all of his profiles and plugins already included. I ran the program from the .exe (no install seemed to be required) and updated through Options->Update. I created the AVS script, started the encode, and everything seemed to be working fine. However, the resulting encode (output as RAWAVC, then muxed with TSMuxer) looked terrible. The video looks like a bunch of gibberish colored lines and pixels, with occasional hints of what the original video looked like. I looked at the .264 raw file in VLC, muxed into mkv and m2ts and they all looked the same in VLC.

So at this point I am feeling stuck. I used TSMuxer to cut a 2 minute piece of the file to try experimenting with different profiles (Ryu's, the PS3/Xbox profiles etc) still with no luck. I can't seem to be able to get a successful video reencode.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

(forgot to mention that I am running Vista, I do have Haali Media Splitter, CCCP installed, etc.)
Can you read the file with MediaInfoRaw, and post it here. Are you doing anything in your AVS script that is unneccesary? If all you need to do is recode for shrinking/compatibility there should be nothing extra included.
Here's the MediaInfoRaw of my 2 minute sample before reencode:

#resize
#denoise

Any ideas?
Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

i dont worry about errors, but after waiting 24 hours for it to encode, this really sucks

thanks for the help!

I had a similar problem.

I had a blu ray movie (Twister) ripped into the hard drive using AnyDVD but was unable to play it back from the hard drive using Windows Media Player 11, Roxio's Cineplayer and Intervideo Win DVD BD. Can some one suggest a solution to this?

The WinDVD BD could play the movie back from the BD drive but was unable to open the m2ts files in the Stream folder. The Cineplayer was supposed to be able to play m2ts files but could not open the files in the Stream folder either.

When tried to burn the videos to disc using Roxio 10 Creator or Sony's Click-to-Disc, both could not detect any video files in the Stream folder.

What softeware can I use to burn this movie back to a blank BD disc?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey guys, it's probably best if you don't mention movie titles unless it's absolutely necessary.
It's not against forum rules, however it does ensure a safer discussion. ;-)

Hi, I'm new to this forum, and I wonder if anyone can help with either a MeGUI or txMuxeR problem...

I've had some success using MeGUI to resample large mkv files down to around 4GB and tsMuxeR to create Blu-ray disks that play in my Sony BDP-S301 player. Sometimes (> 50% of the time), the disk loads in the player, but won't play. The display says "1:00:00:00" and then says "AVCHD". Other times, the disk plays perfectly. I use the following procedure:

1. Using the AviSynth script creator, I load the original mkv file to MeGUI for video encoding.

2. I select "x264: Standalone-Blu-ray_Fast" encoder setting, file format "MKV". I leave the encoder settings at default (Turbo, Automated 2pass, AVC Profile: High, AVC Level 4.1), and adjust the bitrate appropriately to get the desired file size. This generates a new mkv file with only the video stream.

3. In tsMuxeR GUI, I add the new mkv file for the video stream. I also add the original mkv file for the audio stream (and uncheck the video track in the original file). I select Output: Create Blu-ray disk and Change level: 4.1 (this is redundant, since MeGUI changed the level to 4.1 in the video stream already).

4. Then I use ImgBurn to burn the resulting BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders on a DVD5 with UDF 2.5 format.

As I said above, sometimes the resulting DVD plays perfectly in my Blu-ray player, but most of the time lately, I add a coaster to my collection :-(

I wonder if it's the MeGUI settings, or perhaps there's something funny about the BD file structure, although it seems unlikely that tsMuxeR would mess this up only sometimes.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong will be much appreciated...

shpanda, if you're not going to resize the video why don't you just use tsMuxer? It can change AVC to 4.1. Before creating a Blu-ray disc, change it to M2TS and then using the M2TS files create a Blu-ray disc.
