they are the example of dvd media. some dvd's are crap and you should stay away from them, they never work and wear down your ps2's laser real fast. but taiyo and verbatim are good, so buy those dvds

@ claire22
taiyo yudens are basicly the best media you can use for ps2 back up, but they are hard to find in local stores. you can find them on the web
verbatims are also a very good media for ps2 use as well, and they can be found in most major brand electronic stores, they will cost you a little more upfront but the money now is better than a back up that wont play later

you will get the best results at 4x burn speed (or half disc speed). just browse this thread, there is alot of good info in it, you will find it is actually a pretty easy process most of the time.

Another thng, if you downloaded the game (naughty, naughty) then it probably came in a bunch of files, your will need to use WinZIP to unpack them into one iso that can be burned.
and i would suggest using DVDDecrypter for that... it's a whole lot easier... hehe.

its not that she is a girl,
she knows her ps2 is chipped
she has back ups already
she has attempted to do it herself FIRST
she has given some detail to her problem not just saying she has one
she has stated why she hasnt read the thread, not just lazy
and im in a helpful mood, lol

I've copied a couple games i've borrowed and for some reason they just stay on the first loading screen before going into the game.
Now i have downloaded games before and burnt the iso's with Nero *no probs there* and they work fine, but this is the first time i've actually ripped a disc, i did the whole iso thing with DVD Decrypter then burnt in Nero.
I know there is nothing wrong with the disc (as far as GTA VCS goes anyway) cause i tried it on the PS2 emulator on the pc and it went through normally into the game, yet in the ps2 after the intro bits for the game it just goes to a black screen, after a while it has loading in the centre of the screen with a nother one in the top right
I have a swap magic so its all good for me. ALthough oddly i had to use the swap magic to play the originals cause the ps2 wouldnt load/read them directly =.= but at least i know the disc isnt at fault as it works properly int he emulator
so i guess one option is to re-rip and burn with another program?

rip and burn with DVD Decrypter, there is NO reason to switch programs in the middle of the process, DVD Decrypter is by far the easiest way to make a backup, BURN AT 4x, BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,BURN AT 4x,and please use good media
if you have to use swap magic to load an origonal then i would think the disk is at fault

i'm using TDK DVD-R
I'll have a go with DVD Decrypter again. Well as far as my ps2 goes it has been needing a new laser but really has never had problems with originals, so yeah im guessing the disc, but they worked in the PS2 emulator on PC so i dunno whats the go with that, but i'll whack a lens cleaner through it again to see if that improves the readibility, albeit i doubt but its worth a try

TDK are not that good, and comparing an emulator on you PC and a ps2 are two different things, your pc doesnt care if it is an original ps2 game, your ps2 does, the disk could be damaged in the authentication so your ps2 wont read but pc will. If your laser is going out then i wouldnt recommend paying backups, it is harder on the ps2, but if you must then get the best media possible(Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim)

previously i used Sky media or whatever it is as thats hwat i had left and they seemed to work fine but since i've bought TDK they havent worked or barely worked at all as far as game copies go, but TDK is a top end brand so they shouldnt have any issues should they? =/
Edit: after reading previous posts, i'll have a look around for Verbatims, or get those Sky media ones i got last time as they seem to work as i have TOurist Trophy on one of them and i've had no issues with that so far, might look at getting another laser or another ps2, a second hand chunky anyway

The lens of the PS2 is very picky, so when it comes to copying games only use taiyo yuden or verbatim....other media tends to cause your lens to overwork...and trust me thats not good

i've posted this on another thread, but i guess it rarely gets checked, so maybe i'll have more luck here. it was...
" question. i recently burned the new hokuto no ken game. 2d fighter. but i can't get a perfect burn. the music skips and repeats. alot of my backups are "near" perfect. always something wrong, be it music skipping or a bit longer loading times. i use verbatim -R 16x, DVD Decrypter, and i burn at 1x. is it possible to burn them too slow?? i figured the slower the better. is it the speed im burning at?
"
i saw in an earlier post to burn at 4x. but my question still remains, is it bad to burn lower? i was told the lower the better. so i figured x1 would be best...i guess it isn't. can anyone help me?

just burn at 4x and you will see the difference, as for why, cause it works

after burning off another game i downloaded, i left it in the ps2 in the hope that it would eventually load, which it did, mind you it was a good couple of hours before it eventually did but nonetheless i'm happy
still im going to be getting myself some verbatims next time i get the chance, or those Sky Media ones as they seem to work pretty well

lildave once you have ripped the iso with DVD Decrypter in read mode, once in write mode you have to select the iso once in write mode in the left hand side, after that you burn it

@Problems
your right
that's true
oh yeah
blaha blah
i'll shut up... you got me
hehe

yeah, usually the most important thing to look at when you make a coaster is what media you're using, and what speed your burning.

I am having trouble backing up my PS2 games, I use swap magic DVD on my PS2 and all the games work fine, but when I try to back up my mums games for her ps2 (with mod chip) using the same method, only about 20% of games work on her PS2, any idea where I am going wrong?
I will explain the method I have been using, I make an ISO of the original using Magic ISO, then decrypt the image using DVD Decrypter, I then mount the new image with Daemon Tools, and make a copy using sonic record now copying from my virtual drive to my DVD writer.
Is there a different method for writing games for mod chip PS2's?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hm. That's interesting. And you say they work fine with SwapMagic right? The thing is, DVD Decrypter can rip and burn the image. There shouldn't be a different method. Try ripping and burning the image wih DVD Decrypter and see if it works then.
The break of day is but beyond a cry of hidden sorrow.
