Also, is there any way to check what type of box you have without opening it up? I can't remember what our boxes are, it's been ages since I had to flash them.
After some more searching (all night, I really should be in bed by now) I managed to find IFA and downloaded an image as well - thanks to sc0user's Eamos - but I'm still having problems. Everytime I try to flash the box, I get an error on my laptop - Windows cannot find file DBox_boot.exe. Does anyone know what this is?

Are you using DHCP or a static IP address? What image are you using and what box do you have, Nokia or Sagem?

I disconnected the laptop from the internet, changed everything to static as you explained in the word doc you have. Box is a Sagem, 2 chip, and I was trying to put the Sportster image you have. But this error was on Windows, before I even got to turn the Dbox on.
Anyways, hopefully should be ok, my mate who originally got the boxes for me and my dad is gonna flash them tonight with Laky, hopefully that should be alright. If not, I'll be back here just after 8pm

Sorry mate missed that one. Both boxes are quite good the Sagem you know yourself can be a bit chirpy at times, (Gbox cures this somewhat), and I find the Nokia tuner that bit better. Its just a case of finding the right image for your box, bit of experimenting until you find one that suits you best.

Hello there,
I have a similar problem to this. I have a Sagem 1 chip box, I ftp'd the new Blade Quad image last night, it all went in ok. I saved my bouquet and service files but when i tried to copy them into the new image its as though all of the files and directories are read only, i kept getting an error saying something like "can't access folder, have you got permissions". I made sure the ip address and default gateway on the box were ok but still couldnt access any folders.
So, I tried doing a scan with the Blade image but couldnt pick up any channels, i followed the instructions that Eamo gives, and tried all sorts of different settings but still couldnt pick up anything. I dont know if i had the right settings for where i'm based (west yorkshire ex c&w), i've read soimewhere that the blade image has a problem with scan settings?
Anyway, in my wisdom, i decided maybe if deleted the bouquet and service files using tuqbox command i'd be able to copy my old ones into the directory, that didnt work. I noticed while i was in tuqbox that the folders/files dont have any access restrictions so maybe there's something wrong with my pc setup? although it was ok before i ftp'd the new image?
Now starting to loose it a bit i thought i may have corrupted the flash somehow so i tried to ifa the cable ferret image instead but when i press start in ifa i get the same error mentioned above "Windows cannot find file DBox_boot.exe" and then nothing happens when i repower the box.
Sorry to ramble on but hopefully someone will be able to give me a few pointers if i tell them the whole tale, either with the right scan settings for my area or with how to access the files/folders in the blade image.
Thanks for listening,
DovesLad

here is the idiots guide :]
you will need
laky-pro 1(from BIGMAQ tool-bar)
Image flashing assistant (GOOGLE)
null-modem cable
patch/crossover-cable
Now we need to setup the dbox to use ftp easily via your existing patch/crossover-cable.
1.Get your dbox remote in your hand press dbox.
2.Select the settings menu press ok.
3.Select network then press ok.
4.Change ip address to 192.168.0.100
5.Change subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
6.change default gateway to 192.168.254.2
7.Save all setting press the home button.
Now plug your patch/crossover-cable into the back off the dbox.
Some off you might not have a rj45 lead spare, So use the one that the routers got
plugged into.
It the lead that plugs into your current computer network card to the broadband box.
Now we need to setup your computer to talk to the dbox via ftp
On your computer press the following (windows only)
1.Press Start
2.Press my network places
3.Press view network connections
4.Highlight local area connection.
5.Right click select properties.
6.Scroll down to tcp/ip
7.press enter.
8.Select the use the following ip.
9.Enter ip address 192.168.0.105
10.Enter subnet mask 255.255.255.0
11. Enter default gateway 192.169.254.2
Press ok shuts the window then press ok again shuts all network windows.
using your Image flashing assistant flash you dbox2 with the NEW laky-pro image
when finished flashing turn of the Image flashing assistant
un-plug your box from the mains (then restart)
select English
press blue button
select town (box will re-boot)
scan for channels
done!
ps turn off your firewall
good luck
