I may be late in posting this, but I hope it's useful information. I've found a solution to the part where the game freezes when you get the protowing. The solution is to patch the SLUS_209.37 and IOPRP280.IMG files. First, use DVDSCANLITE 3.7 to patch the SLUS_209.37 file. Second, use Sonix Console Media Patcher 1.1 to patch the IOPR280.IMG file using the DVD9->DVD5 option and patch it again with DVDSCANLITE 3.7. With these files patched, you can finally continue with the game. I think some mod chips have a feature that automatically patches games, so you may or may not need to do this.

Yeah that's useful info. I downloaded the DVD-5 rip and I have a chip, but I wouldn't be surprised if this comes in handy down the road. Cheers!

Well I think if they did, they would've posted. As far as I know noone has tried this and confirmed it works. It probably does. Try rebuilding the game.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

Yeah, the method I posted works and I've tried it myself. That's how I was able to progress with the game.

i recently downloaded the game which was 4.27 gigs, but when it froze after getting the protowing i tried random999's method (patching the files with dvdscan and cm1)but now that i rebuilt the iso it is 6.46 gigs!? How do i get to become back to 4.27?

Use Apache 2 to update the patched files instead of rebuilding it. Yes, the dummy files would still be in there, but that's only way i got it to stay 4.27 gigs. Open up the ISO with Apache 2 and right click on SLUS_209.37, then click on update file. After that, browse for the SLUS_209.37 file that you patched and select it to update the one in the ISO. Do the same thing with the IOPRP280.IMG file.

I hate to sound dumb but I'm stuck on the technicalities. I downloaded the game as an ISO file with all the dumb data taken out already so I tried to use DVDScanlite on it but it won't recognise an ISO file so I extracted the contents and patched everything as suggested but then to use Apache it needs to be in ISO format and it is getting confusing. Can anyone clarify this for me please? Thanks

Umm I'm not quite sure but once you use apache to modify the files I think you can use apache to remake an iso. I not quite sure, I haven't used that software in a while, but if apache can't do that, you need a program to make the iso with the modified files.

Are they iml files, or do you have all the individual game files?

Yes! Figured it out. I extracted the two files that need messing with using ISO buster and then did what random said and it all worked. Here, have a cookie (::) and a donut if you want it (O)

Also, for anyone using HD Loader or HD Advance, you're likely to run into the same problem when you obtain the Protowing (regardless of whether you're ISO is DVD5 or DVD9). Just patch the same files to DVD5 and that should fix the problem.

Has anyone else had trouble getting DVDScanLite and Console Media Patcher to work? With DVDScanLite 3.7, it loads but when I try to select a file, it errors out with "Debug Assertion Failed, File: FSeek.c, Line 100 error. When you tell it to retry, it presents another error telling you the breakpoint has been reached and closes out. I also have a problem with Console Media Patcher. When I select a file, it errors out and provides a memory error. I am using Win 2K Professional operating system. Any suggestions? I am trying to convert a CD based game to DVD because the PS2 won't read the original CD for the game.
