I can get the dual core 3Ghz Cpu with 2MB cache for around £240 - so around $360 US... whereas I could get the celeron 3Ghz for about £65, quite a difference I know, LOL
But I'm thinking I might try the celeron first.. both will be S775 anyway... and if I don't like it I can put it in the build for my nephew that wants one anyway and just upgrade to the better CPU :)

to be truthful i dont really use it just liked the look plus i can rn doom on ultra high mode it looks fantastic
need your help any way using a diff laptop aspi installed but cdgen not detecting, Nero says system and Nero installed if i change dvd decripter to wnapsi i losse my drives if i change to apsi get a stuiped message in the log saying no apsi detected
all works well when i use spti-microsoft
been googling but no answer no problem as it runs fine for the disks just when i go to recored in cdgen i get the dreaded msg aspi failed
any idea???

I have a Celeron 2.4GHZ, it's okay. It's faster than some of the older P4's, but it isn't as fast as high end AMD chips. I mean I guess if you're building a gamer's PC, than you may want the dual core P4. Does your motherboard support DDR2 RAM? You could get some high end OCZ PC5300 DDR2 RAM. Of course I'm poor so I went with crucial.com's RAM. They're pretty high quality as well. I think Paddy may be better able to help you with driver issues Boobooman, that's not really my forte.

@boobooman - if you do what it says in my guide to install wnaspi32.DLL in your windows/system32 folder it will fix the problem you have with cd/dvd gen... and then if you enable the ASPI-WNASPI32.DLL in DVD Decrypter as per the guide, then it should detect your drives ok too.. but no probs if you wanna continue using MS SPTI for your I/O interface.
@Tokijin, I'm getting a mobo especially for this next build, so I could get DDR2, but then I already have 2GB's of PC3200 RAM and I want to use them rather than buying yet more.. so figured I'll stick with the dual channel pc3200 as I can get by on what I have already and just get an extra 512 or 1GB if I want... it's not for gaming as such.. I could use this one for gaming and I don't do that much anyway.. just maybe get the new F.E.A.R game... that looks cool... other than that all my gaming is done on my PS2, although I'm thinking about getting a chipped x-box.. i'm running out of games to get for the ps2, LOL.
I'm mostly getting the new comp as I wanna do more multi-tasking and I have an issue with the mobo on this comp anyway.. the FSB is only running at 100mhz... damn Via mobo, LOL... but not worth getting new mobo for this.. I'll just keep it or sell it to my sis at cost.. haven't decided yet.

Okay yah lost me on FSB and Via mobo. I've considered getting a modded X box at some point. They're a lot more user friendly with the modding, since they have a HD built in, you can play games off the HD. The X Box is easier to FTP from what I've heard as well. I have a few questions. I just bought a new computer with a 200gb hard drive and 512memory. Should i still update my firmware? Also i here iso write speed should be low for example at 1x but what about the read speed? Third and finaly, when writing iso should it be in burn-proof or test mode?

Yes, check for an update of the firmaware even if it's a new drive..
Read speed shouldn't matter.. I let mine read the maximum it can... and burn speed shouldn't be slowest possible, it should be around 4x on 8x discs.

Yeah so i followed everything on the checklist and i have made four backups since and none of then were coasters. Nice cheklist bro thanks! I though i should mention that one of my problems was properly using swap. turns out i needed use the key before and after opening and closing the drive and change the tv mode to NTSC mode or PAL mode.

Paddy knows what he's talking about. This checklist is easy to follow and useful. Don't go bashing the author when it's 99.9% likley that it's user error. What kind of media are you using? What's the Media ID?
91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. I'm gonna get a modded xbox at some point too... just need to get some other stuff sorted first. I've been using a few warez sites lately.. they're cool :) You use them? or mostly torrents?
Have written another thread about where to get programs from.. I uploaded loads of PS2 progs that people ask for on here from time to time... no big deal, but will add other stuff to it too at some point.

No prob. I'm not trying to give that kid a hard time, but I am almost certain he's using cheap media or doing something else wrong. I use torrents for now. What exactly are warez sites? You can always PM it to me if it's not exactly forum legal. Nice software list btw, real useful stuff. People seem to have trouble finding stuff despite the numerous stickies and links posted throughout AD. I guess it's not en vogue to search anymore lol. Cheers!

Yeah, It's not too bad of a list, I got sick of people asking for the simplest programs that you could find with a bit of searching.. so decided to upload them to my account and so I'll know they're there permanently and can point people in the right direction... but they'll probably still ask for them or say they can't find them anywhere, LOL.

Yes, if you look at virtually any of the OTHER stickies in this forum, it'll tell you that you can modify your ps2 several ways in order to be bale to play backed up discs.. modchip or swap magic boot discs and a case mod are the 2 most used... read through some of the posts in the forum to get an idea of things..

hi
i need help with-
i got PAL console, PAL Action Replay Max, Swap Magic and 3 NTSC games. these games wok fine but when i try to play them with cheat codes DvD stop running and game goes to Console's Title page.
i want to know how to get it work.
