if your still here, i do have on more question, can i just completely remove the hard drive from the xbox, plug it into my pc, let the pc pick it up, use xplorer360 to transfer the files to it, then plug it back into the xbox??
if so, this could be done by putting in a bigger hard drive into the xbox as well? no?

NO. Because the hdd is lock, PC will not read it. So we use xbox to unlock then hook up to pc. That is why it calls hotswap.

okay, so by booting xbox up, then unplugging hard drive, this unlocks it for me!

dam, another question, how about if i just copy files onto a new hard drive, like original xbox files, can this be done, i am just asking because people are asking me and i am telling them what you are stating, which makes sense, all of it, a new hard drive is unlocked right, so by putting either original files or modified ones, then shoving into xbox, will it recognize it?

No you did not understand. when you boot the xbox up, the big green X will show up (hdd still not unlock yet). Then the ms logo will appear under the big X. Now hdd is unlock. Also now you disconnect the IDE cable from xbox hdd, then connect the one from pc to xbox hdd.
REMEMBER THE HDD IS STILL LOCKED IF YOU DISCONNECT IDE CABLE TOO EARLY. DO NOT TURN OFF XBOX DURING THIS PROCESS. UNLESS PC CAN'T READ XBOX HDD.

Once, xplorer360 can see the xbox hdd, you can transfer ms dash it. It just like windows explorer. Drag and drop to copy. When you done, close the xplorer360. CONNECT THE XBOX HDD BACK TO XBOX. THEN TURN OFF THE XBOX SO XBOX CAN RELOCK THE HDD. IF you dont do this, your hdd fuck up.

okay, here it is so far, pc will recognize the hard drive in system manager, i installed xplorer360 but it says cant find any fatx system drive, something like that! is this because maybe the drive is still locked??

for hotswapping, can you use the same ide cable that is being used for the primary hdd, just do the xbox hdd as slave? do i need to change jumpers on hdd's????? anyone please????

Ok there are 2 IDE ports on motherboard. The primary for pc hdd and 1 dvd drive. the secondary for xbox hdd only. You dont have the change jumper on hdd.
Remember wait until the ms logo appear for a sec.

return, well, i have tried this over and over, just cant seem to get it to work by hotswapping, i have however booted the pc with dvd i made that makes a boot disc, here is the link

this regonizes the hard drive, it even gave me what seems to be a key for the hard drive, but anything else wont seem to work, have you ever tried this or anyone you know has? i would really like to unlock this hard drive , but will give up soon!

i did try that first, but it said couldnt find any fatx drives, even though in system manager, it shows me the hard drive and says its working fine! do you have any insight on my last post about the program i used?

i disconnect it when mircrosoft logo comes up, right after logo, the service sign appeard with error code 21, i figure if that shows, hard drive is locked again! are you saying i should keep trying and trying, sooner or later it will show up?

i have followd that, i even did a new hard drive, then put it in non-working xbox, getting an error 09, my undrstanding of this error is that hard drive is to small, it was only a 6 gig seagate! if i had a bigger one, i would try but i dont, being reason i am trying with the one that is locked!

so do you think if i get ahold of a 8 gig or so hard drive, and make another like i did, that it should work in the xbox, any xbox? or do i have to have a mod chip in it to work?

Yes, hold the current hdd. And get another 8GB or 10Gb hdd then follow that tutor. YOu dont need modchip.
