Sorry for the long delay in response, a family emergency has kept me away for a few days. Looks like I have some things to address, so here they go:

Let me first start out by saying 'you're welcome' to all those who have thanked me. I would also like to say thanks to all for the kind words and compliments, and for all the help I have recieved over the last few months from all of AD's great members which has contributed enough to my basic and limited knowledge that has allowed me to create this thread. So thank you all very much.

Secondly, I think I may have missed something while I was gone. What exactly was L8ter talking about? Do we have members that have left AD? @ L8ter, there is of course no need for an apology on your part, if you feel that your message was best relayed via this thread, then by all means, please do so. Your post was in no way distasteful being one of the many members who never hesitated to lend a helping hand when I needed it, it is the very least I could do.

@rahzel54
I used the default settings for CCE, 16 and 25 I think. I can't remember exactly what the values were, but I used the default values.

@pazzini
I'm really looking forward to see the results from your tests, I also wanted to include multiple movies as well as transcoders, but just didn't have the time. Sounds like you have some work to do, but I'm sure the final results will be great.

@rack04
For video info I used GSpot codec Info and for frame capture I used VirtualDub Mod. All movies done with DVD-RB Pro (newest) and all frames matched eachother from various encoders. I'm not sure why your frames aren't matching. Look at your log and make sure all are compressed to the same percentage. Did you happen to add something like 'ccetargetsectors' in the RB .ini file? That could result in a different compression ratios.

Anyways, sorry for the long post, and thank you all again for everything. Truley appreciated.

No need to apologise ebega as people should understand that we try to help others in our spare time.

Me like yourself was stunned that helpful people like Brobear and L8ter have been permanantly suspended for what reason I have no idea.

Wow, both members shall truley be missed. Though this may be a little late, I would like to express my undying gratitude to both members, as they have always gone above and beyond whenever I needed a helping hand. Thank you both, with all sincerity, you shall be missed.

I second that.

When I first started using rebuilder and had problems L8ter would always be the first to reply, giving me the advice I needed to get it sorted.

Yeah they are regulars over there along with sophocles, 64026402, and UcasMS. L8ter goes by L8nights over there. If things keep going down the tubes here, dvdhounds will be my forum of choice too.

Like brobear and l8ter being permanently suspended. Brobear might have had it coming, he could belittle some members sometimes imho although I never had any major confrontations with him but L8ter didn't deserve that harsh of penalty and will definately be missed, especially in the rb forum. It's got some other long time members uneasy as well. That's all I will say. I don't want a spanking too and this is not the thread to discuss this anyway.

Pazzini is correct, I used all default settings other than the number of passes (I used 3 instead of 2).

@ebega

Hi :)

Are you gonig to test the encoders with a different movie?

The pictures you uploaded I would put them in this order

1st Procoder2 Winner
2nd CCE but was a close call with 3rd place HC did a great job
3rd HC
4th AutoQmatEnc

Movie: King Kong, 59.5% compression, movie only

Original

Procoder2

CCE

Clonedvd2 (took 15min approx)

Recode2 (took 1 hour with advanced analysis, high quality mode and AEC set to max smooth)

1Click dvd copy pro (took 15 minutes)

I have added a transcoders so people can see how much better encoders are to transcoders.

For Transcoders the compression was at 61%

Procoder2 mastering quality
CCE 3 passes, all the rest at default settings

More to come later.

That Clone pic is nasty, glad I did not use it on this movie. Definitely shows the difference, good example of how good RB is, as if those of us who use it haven't noticed. I think I will stick with CCE though as it is faster, but the procoder2 looks pretty good.

Sorry I never got back to you about including transcoders, just haven't had any time to include them lately. Very nice job on the comparison though, very helpful, and helps to justify the extra time that encoders take. Clone, Shrink, and Recode, while great programs, just cannot compare to encoders

Hi arniebear poor clonedvd2 did'nt stand a chance and as you can see it did not do very well, especially with my transcoder tests. I use to use just clonedvd2 for all my backups till I found dvd-rebuilder pro. I now do movies like this Clonedvd2 100% compression so no transcoder is needed, movies with compression of up to 85% gets Recode2 and everything else goes through Rebuilder pro with Procoder 2 or CCE depending on the movie.

We all know how much you like CCE but give us some more time and we may convert you yet to the wonders of procoder 2.

Hey ebega thats cool I know what it's like not having much spare time.

Thanks for the positive feedback I just wish I could of gone into more detail, but like you there does not seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done.

alright Mort81 when ever I go to Encode a movie I always seem to pick procoder 2 I really do believe it gives the better picture not by much mind you but still better.

Hi Mort :) procoder 2 will cost you about $500 or £350-400.

The express version will cost you about $60? The express version though is not very good by what I have read over at the doom9 forums.

Ok guys, I couldn't sleep last night so I figured I would play around with some transcoders. I tested Recode, DVD Shrink, Shrinkto5, DVD2One, and CloneDVD2. All previous comparison pages have been updated. Enjoy :)

Wow, ebega what a job. Actually, on the pic of Gandolf among the transcoders Shrinkto5 and DVD2One look the best, the others had some artifacts going on. This is one thread that other posters should look at to see the comparison. I have already recommended it once in a post today. I will definitely keep on telling people to take a look so they can see the difference for themselves. Good job to both you and pazzini for these comparisons. I am still a CCE person at heart, but if someone wants to offer ProCoder for the cheap then I will give a try :)

Great work ebega, excelent job :)

I have added 2 more transcoders Nero recode2 and 1Click dvd copy pro. I added these because alot of people use Recode2 and 1click pro. If people want to see how DVDShrink came out let me know and I wil post a pic. I did'nt add shrink because it has a similar outcome to Recode2.

EDIT: Recode2 is the clear winner for me out of the transcoders.
