I only did one file so far .A very long file (2gb)and it didn't have a lot of seeds because it was older. Also seeding the amount you download is kind of a b!tch condering I have my upload limited to 30kbps.
I could change my upload and go into super seeding everytime but bunk on that lol. We'll see what happens when the next popular thing releases and there is lots of seeds.

Good link oofrome.I already know my speed is 3mb though.
By the way sorry to anybody that we got this thread off topic so far.But what did you expect from a topic like "god bless the wii" lol
A topic like that will never stay it's coarse because it's not specific enough and is to generalized.Me,svtstang and oofrome staged this whole thing to teach you all a lesson. Now don't do it again.lol.

the wii will outlive itself in no time. with poor graphics, a controller to set off anyones lack of symmetry, and little to it. sure it has retro gaming but that gets old because most old games suck and the one you love you overplayed then and you'll only over play more now. the life of the wii may last 2 years successfully in america. those japanese love to jump around and act funny while gaming (look at ddr) so it will have a long life there. i like to sit and relax when i game, not worry about sitting on my knees with the controller over my head to make it more intuitive to whats on the screen. gaming is my way to leave the real world and enjoy a place only imaginable.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

oh goodie!
Quote: the wii will outlive itself in no time. with poor graphics, a controller to set off anyones lack of symmetry, and little to it.
I can not say it enough, but graphics aren't what drive the success of a console. If anything, a lack of graphics does. you have heavily underpowered SNES', PS1's, and PS2's to refer back to.
Also, When you're going to play a game on a regular standard TV or even EDTV, Wii games will be comparible to ps3 and 360 counterparts. One developer said that a system has to be 4 times as powerful just to be able to support High Def, which is why the Wii doesn't have to have a xenos processor or a cell processor.
As for the controller, I'm sure you're not alone, but the overwhelming majority have been pleasantly surprised with it. (Remember e3?)
Quote: sure it has retro gaming but that gets old because most old games suck and the one you love you overplayed then and you'll only over play more now.
That's sort of true. I played the hell out of my snes titles. But once in a while, I like to fire up the old Strike Gunner or Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
Quote: the life of the wii may last 2 years successfully in america.
And this is based off what? do you have an imaginary reuters or forbes estimation of the Wii's life?
Quote: those japanese love to jump around and act funny while gaming (look at ddr) so it will have a long life there.
Yeah... the japanese trend is to be, well, trendy.
Quote: i like to sit and relax when i game, not worry about sitting on my knees with the controller over my head to make it more intuitive to whats on the screen.
It's just the position of the controller that matters, not your body. Light up on the exaggeration. I usually get into games, though. Talking shit on xbox live, etc. Sort of like beer pong I guess. While it takes skill and focus, the general social and physical atmosphere make it almost worth it in itself. Winning is good, though.
Quote: gaming is my way to leave the real world and enjoy a place only imaginable.
Hmmm.... I guess "realistic graphics" is sort of hypocritical then, no? jk. That's how I feel about it too.

i figure this from how long the strange interaction and lack of stellar graphics aswell as how
fast retrogaming gets old. i said it "may" meaning an educated guess from what i see from
people around me and their reactions and beliefs. imagine when the ps3 and 360 hit their
peak, while the wii will look like nothing at all. the big age look difference will be enought to
convice almost anyone after 2 years to not go with a wii. again, all an opinion.

I think oofrome said it best..

Yep ps2 didn't have as much when it came to hardware compaired to xbox, and gamecube and yet won the war.Same with ps1 To dreamcast...
I beleive ps3 and wii will come out on top in the next gen while ms comes out on bottom...Which sounds crazy to people who Know Sh!t about the market.

but the console's had a foothold upon their release. the ps1 was strong when dreamcast was release, and even the n64. they were too late. the ps2 help lots of ground from ps1 and its own at the time of the xbox that it had no chance of becoming anything. in this case, the console with lower graphics was not released in enought time to built that foothold the other consoles had. it looks like crap to a console released well before it. it will entertain, but it will never truly satisfy the masses. this is my view.

Good calls, but i believe you forgot about Rock and Roll Racing LoL. j/k.
What irks me is that people are gunning the Wii down about it's graphics. This system is supposed to be about innovation not having the best graphics. And plus, they were only demos/trailers that we did see at E3, they will get better than that for sure. Though, not as good Ps3 or 360, they will be at an alright standard.
And another thing, just to add about people bashing Nintendo because they don't think they are innovative, at least they are making an attempt at it LoL. And they must be doing something right if Sony is gambling with the motionsensing too.
Sorry my rant is now over LoL. This seemed like a good thread about the Wii in general. Not everything I said was necessarily in this thread either, just random.
The answer to life, the universe, and everything is...42

Quote: but the console's had a foothold upon their release.
Not really. The dreamcast was the fastest selling console all time.Like 1 million in the first week(or something crazy like that) dreamcast actually has more power than ps2 not just ps1...and had a foothold when ps2 came out...
Your analogies can be used the other way around too.
Quote: in this case, the console with lower graphics was not released in enought time to built that foothold the other consoles had.
You are talking about the wii right? The xbox 360 is the only one out right now and according to history it aint really selling hot.It doesn't have a foot hold and ps3 and wii are going to smash it especially in japan where 360 has sold like 1 unit lol.People forget that gfx are not what sells a console the price point on wii is low enough to be irresistable.
We'll see who has a foothold when poor gamers who don't have hdtv or don't care buy a wii and wealthy people who love high end stuff buy a ps3...and xbox 360 is right in the middle appealing to nobody.

did you here the fcc is removing standard television broadcasts in 2009? you can bet there will be an increase in tv sales around that time.
the dreamcast was not the fastest selling console, the ps2 was with i believe 98,000 sold in 4 hours. the dreamcast was released far to late to be old gen, but didnt fit with the next gen, and sega made many mistakes with it much the same as they did toward the end of the genesis' life.
and if people see a console released after two others that are so much better and have a sane controller that people are used to and know well (you'll have to own like 8 controllers for a 4 player match on the wii since you need a dif controller for dif games). the ps3's controller is the same since the dawn of the ps, and people know it and how to use it quite well. i dont think people will enjoy figuring out the wii-mote and using it for fps or other things, it just wont be intuitive for anything other than some sports or that warioware thing. the wii in time will cost as much to play as a 360 would, maybe even a ps3. with buying all those controllers, a few games, and anything else, it may run you close to 400-500 dollars.

i dont know how the wiimote can be used more than a few ways which will get old. it seems so unintuitive. like pulling back links bow, you could but the damned thing between your legs and walk backwards if u wanted, or tie it to the dog and let him run so u get so much power from the bow. itt'l be hard going from game to game too.

I think most of the people going into e3 thought the same thing. Nintendo is banking off the slogan "Playing is believing". When people walked out of e3, Nintendo was more or less proven right.
We'll see how the Wii does this first year.
Quote: This system is supposed to be about innovation not having the best graphics.
Exactly. Look at the DS vs. PSP. The psp graphics are a full generation better than the DS, but what does that matter?
Quote: did you here the fcc is removing standard television broadcasts in 2009?
I heard they were just requiring everything to be in a digital broadcast.
Although I think it would be safer to bet on the FCC extending the deadline than following through with their plan - if history is any lesson. 3 years seems like a long ways, though. Anything is possible.
Look at it this way; the people who don't already have HDTV's are probably not the hardcore-gamer type of people who only care about graphics.
Quote: it just wont be intuitive for anything other than some sports or that warioware thing.
FPS, racing titles, flight games, swordfighting all are given applications for such a wiimote. If e3 meant anything to you, you'd also find that Nintendo made a platformer like Mario Galaxy work nicely with it too.
Quote: the wii in time will cost as much to play as a 360 would, maybe even a ps3. with buying all those controllers, a few games, and anything else, it may run you close to 400-500 dollars.
Wii pricing and peripheral pricing havn't been released yet, as well as what will be contained in the launch bundle(s) and/or game bundles.
Quote: pulling back links bow, you could but the damned thing between your legs and walk backwards if u wanted, or tie it to the dog and let him run so u get so much power from the bow
yeah uh... the twilight princess demo wasn't anything like that.

I wouldn't put much stock in the 2009 comment you made. You better do some research before getting into that one with me tiger.

fps will suck with the wiimote, they will nat be intuitive and it does not have the ammount of buttons that would be needed for any long lasting (in the fun depot) fps. racing will kind of work but yet again not be so intuitive. haw would it work? tilt it left and it goes left maybe? thats it. what if u go forward? whats that gunna do? flight games will also be lame on it, its not like a full pilot wheel at all. all these aplication are will be so inintuitive because you only move one hard and the other just sits there. i like to be into my game, and the ps3 controller takes these intuitively breathlessly. does the "classic" controller for the wii support motion sensing? plus i dont want to buy and endless amount of expensive controllers to play a catagory of games with my friends.
here is probably the best link about the digitalization of broadcasting, and your analog non-dtv (digital television) tv's will be renderend usable only in other countries supporing analog.

I wouldnt say its lame until I actually played it. U never know something like that may be addicting. I though DDR was gay at first but i got addicted to that. Anyways.. i do agree on how it will get old after a while. That is why i think interaction with games should be left to the arcades and not on consoles. If Nintendo was 100% sure that the wii mote will not get old then they wouldnt of come up with the other normal ps2+snes looking controller.
Look at all the useless add ons that Nintendo came up with that sold extremely well but are useless after a while. The wii mote does pretty much the same as those add ons so it will probably have the same fate.
Add ons like ddr pad, light gun, bongo drum thing for DK, no one uses any of that anymore. Not just for Nintendo but for every other console aswell.

How'd I know you would do that anubis.lol
It doesn't mean a thing. The fcc has pushed that date back so many times it's funny next year it will be 2010,then 2011,etc.It's about cable boxes.Remember the old cable analog boxes?Well now there digital but they still work with analog tv's... I have an analog pc tv tuner which get's it's signal from a digital cable box and guess what it still works. It always will work.I just use the box to change channels.
If you have an analog(unlikely)box your cable company will be required to change it.As far as what if you have no cable box at all. Then you'll be getting one and it will be digital.Digital doesn't mean hdtv.
People with antenna's will be the only ones in danger.Which is why the fcc keeps pushing it back.People in the ghetto who are using antenna's may not get things like hurricane warnings(think if katrina came and you were old and didn't know)that's what has the government worried and that's what has them pushing the date back.
What's this got to do with gaming? You say there will be an increase in sales when 2009 comes around but nobody is going to know that it switched because were all already running digital cable boxes.
Most newer(last 3 yrs) sdtv's are digital ready for people who don't have a digital cable box anyways..Ever heard of a digital comb filter they been around for a while. Those are more than likely ready.

Not intuitive? Really? I'd imagine pointing and firing to be much more intuitive than, say, moving the right inverted analog joystic and pressing the second right shoulder button...
Maybe that's just me, though...
Quote: racing will kind of work but yet again not be so intuitive. haw would it work? tilt it left and it goes left maybe? thats it.
Yeah uh... sort of like a steering wheel. Weird huh?
Quote: what if u go forward? whats that gunna do?
I'm not sure. I've never pushed forward on a steering wheel to make my car move in any way.
Quote: flight games will also be lame on it, its not like a full pilot wheel at all. all these aplication are will be so inintuitive because you only move one hard and the other just sits there.
I think that the simplicity is one of Nintendo's marketing strategies to lure more nongamers into the market. And as I said earlier, Nintendo made a platformer work fine with the wiimote, so with a little thought, i'm sure developers can make anything work, and possible even better.
Quote: i like to be into my game
yeah but... you just said this earlier
Quote: i like to sit and relax when i game
I'll tell you what; make up your mind first, and then come back.
:-)
Quote: does the "classic" controller for the wii support motion sensing?
No. The classic controller is mainly intended for retro gaming. Although, I wouldn't object if a game like street fighter would use the controller. I'd much rather play street fighter on the classic controller than the wiimote. At least right now.
Quote: If Nintendo was 100% sure that the wii mote will not get old then they wouldnt of come up with the other normal ps2+snes looking controller.
retro gaming, virtual console gaming, etc.
Quote: Add ons like ddr pad, light gun, bongo drum thing for DK, no one uses any of that anymore. Not just for Nintendo but for every other console aswell.
The wiimote is not an add-on. From what I gathered from e3, it also isn't inclusive to select genres.

I know the wii mote is not an add on but what does the wii come with anyways? I thought that it came with the wii mote as the only main controller thats why i thought it would be weird to play every single game with that. But if it comes with both the mote and the other normal controller then i guess im wrong.
