Thats an odd question. Each torrent has a tracker attached to it....Some private trackers (i.e. torrentleech) dont allow soem bt clients, but I am not familiar with bitlord, so dont know if that applies to that client. I use Utorrent religiously, and never have any problems.

No, just put the torrent into Utorrent and whatever tracker is "hosting" (not sure of the word) it will appear under tracker info.

Lol, no worrys, cheers for the info stang :)
@mark5hs, If you have any mates that have mates that are already joined on a certain tracker they can send you an invite if your lucky, best thing to do would be to book mark the site you wanna get into and keep checking every now and again to see if they have opened for free sign ups.
As for which ones you wanna get into, depends what you want from them, music, movies etc.

Note that you DO NOT need to disable DHT in your client, even if using a private tracker. Private trackers set a Private flag in the torrent file itself which disables DHT automatically. Related to this was the big fuss a few months back about BitComet 0.60, which ignored that flag and resulted in the banning of BitComet on many trackers. If you disable it in-client, torrents that could benefit from extra peers won't be able to, while torrents from a private site will remain unaffected. Privacy is unaffected for private trackers, and is slightly less secure than only using a public tracker (although P2P watchdogs are far more likely to monitor public trackers and ignore DHT, for practical reasons).
BitLord is a piece of crap. I generally recommend uTorrent because it's tiny, quick, and easy to use. The best way to keep a good ratio on a private site is simply to not download too much at one time. This means you can upload while there's plenty of people still downloading, and keep that bandwidth for a few torrents to ensure you've got a good ratio on each before moving on to more.

Hey EvilTimmy, i take it you do realise that that statement you made is a crock of sh*t right ?
Because sites like BitMe and EMP specifically tell members to TURN OFF DHT, and they do seem pretty private to me...
And do not even get me started on why your statement about
"If you disable it in-client, torrents that could benefit from extra peers won't be able to" is hogwash...
For crying out loud, most sites tell you in their rules and FAQs to turn off DHT, because a number of clients ignore DHT flags, or people tweak their clients to benefit *read : steal* off of DHT enabled clients on private trackers.

Let's put it this way, you start tons of pointless threads, so you should be quiet when it comes to dictating forum rules to others.

Nearly every thread BluRay has started has been shutdown, fact.
You should'nt be nit picking on other's posts is what Dan's trying to say, as you do it yourself.
But hey, we all make mistakes, nit picking on others may even get you into trouble, so leave it to the mod's if it calls for it.
