It's very simple: if the Private flag is set, all decent clients will disable DHT for that torrent (uTorrent has DHT Status for each torrent listed on its properties page). My comment about disabling it in-client refers to all torrents and your downloads in general; with the Private flag set, as private trackers do already for their torrents, DHT will be automatically disabled only for private tracker torrents, while public torrents can still benefit from the additional peers gained from DHT. Obviously this discussion refers to those using legitimate and fair clients, but even 'unfair' peers will have no additional advantages over someone with DHT switched off.

You should know that a lot of private trackers don't set the flags, and you probably know as well as i do that there are clients hacks that ignore flags completely.
My point to be made here : A lot of private trackers tell you to disable DHT even if they have private flags up, so i say the community should respect those expressed wishes.
