Tutorial by Gherudos at PS2Modz Paradise http://www.alucard.cc
Quote:
1)Download expert beta 1.06 with the forbidden siren 2 epi v1.00
2)Extract both the layers of the game in a directory.
3)Run expert tool and choose the forbidden siren 2 plugin.
4)Browse the spk.rom as the table file and the rom.000 as the big file.
5)Press extract lba (button 1) on expert tool
6)Press extract files (button 2) on expert tool
7)Now go to the ROM.000 directory and press ctrl+f or use search
8)Choose search all files and directories
9)At search field write DE.D2B and press search
10)Now you ll find all the german files so you can right click and replace with dummy (with zero file extension).
11)Do the same for french (FR.D2B) for Spanish (ES.D2B) and Italian (IT.D2B)
12)Download the Sonix PSSDownsampler tool 1.01 and drag and drop all the pss files in the tool,as compression rate leave it as it is 75%(which means that it will be downsampled only by 25%)
13)At the options choose overwrite original file.
14)At use stream choose Alt-1 for english audio or leave it Primary for Japanese audio in videos.
15)Do not force ADPCM.
16)Press Go
17)When the downsampling is complete press ok and close the PSS Downsampling tool.
18)On expert tool choose rebuild file (Button 3)
19)After the rebuilding is done press the Rebuild LBA (Button 4 on expert tool).
20)Now just delete these files:
SPK.ROM
ROM.000
And all the txt files created by expert tool.
21)Now rename the NEW-SPK.ROM to SPK.ROM and NEW-ROM.000 to ROM.000
22)Now do the same for the rest of the munge files but only one munge file at a time and always choose the newly created SPK.ROM.
23)Now that you have fix all the munge files use cd dvd generator and create the .ims file
24)Use gnie dvdiml2iso and create the iso.
24)Final iso size will be 4.37GB exactly without ripping anything but the multilanguage files ;)
25)Burn the iso with DVD Decrypter at 4x and play ;)
Oh, and, santana22; The game doesnt fit onto a DVD5 without ripping/downsizing at least something (languages/movies). So you mustnt of extracted ALL the files from BOTH layers of the DVD9.

ace1uk this is what i did...

i got the game extracted all the files from iso using isobuster....opened Nero dragged all the files i extracted from the iso into the Nero window and burned....the only thing that messes up the gameplay is the cutscenes cuz thats wat causes the game to freeze....

ps.

i would try the methods u guys wrote down but i gave up with this game lol rite now im trying this other horror game called haunting ground...a lot like clocktower...cool game to try

you need apache 2 to extract both layers of the disk

@ace1uk
bugger man, wish i'd seen that guide before i wasted a few coasters trying to figure it out myself.
its pretty much the same as i have done, although i set pssdown to 65 %

Yeah, so does blackcats, but its smaller so it'll work with Swap Magic. The one at bitsoup seems to have just followed the guide to the letter & the disc size is 4.37Gb - too big for SM.
I wouldnt worry about downsampling to 65%, the movies still look ok, I used 60 - 65% to make sure it was gonna be small enough for SM & got a disc size of 4Gb

EDIT: @santana222; Like hursty said, to extract properly from a DVD9 iso you need to use Apache & switch layers. Your method means you missed ROM files 008, 009 & 010, which are a further 1.3Gb of filesizes.

@ santana

for you to rebuild this game properly, you cant just drop the files into Nero
it will freeze after the first mission because it is searching for the layer 1,and if you havent extracted the files from layer 1,then thats what it will do

and if you have extracted both layers, then how did you fit onto a DVD-5 disk???

you need to extract both layers using apache 2 to switch to layer 1
you will have a whole load of files

IOPCONF.CNF
MODULES folder
SYSTEM.CNF
SPK.ROM
SCES 538.51

then 11 munge files,labelled ROM.000 > ROM.007/ROMD.008 > ROMD.010

then you need to use gnies plug-in,to extract the files from inside the munge file
once you have done this, then you can downsize the pss files, and replace the unwanted lang files with zero bytes
(you can leave the lang files there, but that then would mean you need a higher compression ratio using pssdown sampler

you need to use cd/dvd gen to rebuild the image.
then iml2iso

gherodus has made a guide for you to follow, and thats pretty much the same way i made my copy

if you need any help,in any of the steps, just ask.

@santana22; If you had all the files extracted, as you say you did, then it would of been impossible for you to burn it all to a regular DVD5, since the total filesize is approx 5.67Gb. So perhaps you'd care to explain how you managed to burn 5.67Gb of data to a disc with a maximum capacity of 4.37Gb? lol

to replace all the files that you need, the easiest way is to use zerofile.dll
get it from here (register first though)

http://www.alucard.cc/forums/?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=708

copy/paste the zerofile.dll file into your system32 folder, then from start run cmd
start/run type in regsvr32.exe /s /c ZeroFile.dll

then to see if it has installed properly, right click on any file, and you should see replace with dummy

then when you extract each rom file,go to the folder @rom.000 for example, open it,you should see another folder DO NOT OPEN THAT FOLDER
instead click CTRL+F (search)
type in the lang text,as listed in gherodus's guide
all the lang files should pop up
just highlight them all (do not do it one by one),right click, select "replace with dummy"

regards

hi again ((hursty)),

sorry 4 the hassle but im really not getting the siren DVD5 backup right. i have the DVD9 version and visited alucard.cc for all the tools such as gnie's and PSS downsampler but am still having trouble. i feel that the instructions on some of the siren tutorials miss many points and therefore are very hard to follow. if u could please post a good 1 thru here or email this would be very very appreciated- and in a way satisfying 2 create my own DVD5 (with your help). a reply would be awesome!!!

regards again,

It doesnt get much simpler than the tutorial from Gherudos, that I posted here. If you follow that, applying a bit of common sense & intelligence, then you'll end up with a working DVD5 rip.

I got it 1st time following that tutorial.

What downsample rate did you use to get it to come out at 4.35 GB?

i'd take a guess it was about 73%

gherodus used 75% and had image size of 4.37gb (too big for swapmagic?)

i used 65%,which produced an iso of 4.2gb

I'll try 74 and see what that happens to come out with. I'm going to rip everything but english as well, maybe I'll do it again with the jap voices and english subs, we'll see..
