Its a DVD9, havent played the PAL version yet (did it come out in Europe before the US ?) but Im guessing there's a lot of movies and voice overs in it. If the voice overs for the english version are anything like the original I could live with ripping them out altogether and sticking to subtitles.

i have the PAL version and it's a DVD 9 the only thing i can think of is to rebuild the game, will this work or is there a more complicated way to make it work?

The PAL version has an option for both English and Japanese voice overs (Woot!) plus subtitles, so you could rip the crappy english voices out (their not as bad as the last game but still bad) and leave the Japanese ones in. You could also downsample the movies like every other DVD9 to DVD5 rip.

this aint gonna be normal DVD-9 to DVD-5 rip so dont hold your breathe just yet
there are no movie/cut scenes files that are visable to take out
the game is split over 2 layers with a set of 11 roms files, each approx 500mb
although the IOPCONF.CNF is showing a list of sorts of PSS files
i aint got time to take a closer look at this game yet
i am guessing there will be some lba protection on it thats for sure
(there is file table that needs looking at in the form of the SPK.ROM file)
so wont be a 10 minute job.
dont waste your disks using nero/cd/dvd gen or even gnies rebuilding tool,as they wont work,(i dont think anyways)
this game might even need a plug-in making by gnie.
as me thinks, this will be a bit over my head
just watch this space for a few days..:)

Anyone has made an IML for this game? I want to play it on HDloader so it doesn't matter if the size is exeding 4.5Gb , the DVD9 on HDloader crashes after the first mission.

like i said above, you are wasting your time
there are no hidden/false lba in this game to take out
a extraction tool is needed to extract the movies/demo files from the 11 rom files it has.

hmmm, well i will give it a few days, and see if someone comes up with a ripping tool, because thats definetly needed on this game, now i have taken a closer look
seems a bit quick for someone to be releasing a DVD-5 rip,and one that works.??,but good on him,if he has
think i'll let others use there bandwidth first, hehehe, see if it works
if you take a look at the contents, there is a spk.rom file which resembles a file list, and there is a IOPCONF.cnf file that is the dvd- check file me thinks, but i am not sure

One of the mods/admin at alucard/ps2modz paradise is compiling one as i type this. Expect a tool within the next few days.
And hursty is correct about a rebuild, which you cant actually do anyway, as its still about 800Mb oversize. If you managed to fit it to a DVD5, santana22, then you mustnt of extracted the files from BOTH layers.

can you tell me what the results are when you burn at 6x speed? and can you also tell me what part of the game that it 'freezes' on. if no solution is found how to burn it i think i am going to buy this game instead...

jesus,
why doesnt no-one listen???
we are waiting for an extraction tool,so we can extract the munge files contents, and get to whats inside them,so we can downsample any movies they contain
only then, and until then can this game be ripped correctly to DVD-5
until then, you cant rebuild this game,IMO

The 'afro-fs2_dvd5' (from mininova) is loading, but freeze after first mission. I think 'afro' only copy the files to hdd and after burn to DVD5. Thats not work correctly... :(

well i have just rebuilt it,and the image now plays
it took a few hours, but at least it works
TOC is ok for swapmagic disks.approx 4.2 gb
basic steps required are
extract all files from both layers
extract files from all 10 munge files using gnies plugin
dummy lang files (there are hundreds),but keeping english
downsample all pss files using pssdown (i used 65%)
rebuilt image using cd/dvd gen
iml2iso
there seems to be no DVD-9 checks
but as with all my games,i never get chance to play them
if anyone wants a detailed tut, then i'll post, but i guess someone will be uploading it soon, cough cough
hursty
p/s big thanks to gnie for making the extraction tool, from which without, this rip wouldnt be possible
