The guy who wrote about Rendition being over 8 gigs of the 9.4 of the
double layer it came on, provided the key reason why Shrink won't do
an analysis of the DVD FROM THE DVD. Shrink just isn't set up to rip
a total movie file that big, FROM THE DVD ITSELF. Clone DVD has a way of getting around that. Ripit4me used to have a way of getting around it when some of the movie sizes were somewhat smaller. But 8 gigs is too big for ripit4me how too. In a way, this is a simple DVD recognition problem by the software and hardware issue, somewhat like those we've encountered before from Sony/Columbia. We used to solve these with DVDFAB, though I haven't tried that on Rendition. Here's what will work. Right click on the ANYDVD fox head in the very bottom row of your pc. A popup option will allow you to copy the rendition files to a folder you've created for the purpose. Then use the file button on shrink to rip it from the folder on your hard disk. Easy as pie. Rips like normal. Someone ought to try the DVDFAB way too. It might rip the files faster. There are going to be many more of these 8 gig or larger films as process morphs to High Def ripping. I encountered two more 8 gig problems on Tuesday, Feb. 26-08: Goya's Ghost and Silk. There will be a lot more of these appearing from now on. The movie part of the DVD is getting bigger and more complex at 8 gigs plus.

It occurs to me you might move files to a folder in windows explorer by
just going to the explorer file manager and dragging it into an empty
file folder. If its not encrypted, you can then rip it with shrink from
the file folder. If its encrypted, you could find a way to get DVD decryptor to rip from the file rather than the DVD. Then you could bring in ripit4me to try and get to the *.iso stage. If someone succeeds this way, why not let everyone know? There are going to be more and more of these 8 gig films on new dual layer disks.

Maybe it's too early in the morning for me but this doesn't make sense.
How does RipIt4Me or DVD Decrypter work with files already on the HD? They work with the disc.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I haven't actually thought it completely through. I've had other occasions when shrink wouldn't recognize a DVD in the tray, but ripit4me
with all of its associated freeware would. It would then do the whole thing for me. Also, I have never thoroughly examined the options in some of the freeware or changed many settings. I was asking someone to
try some of these and see what happened. Also, I don't know how to erase that double post. I think it happened because I tried to cancel
it when it was taking forever to post. But it must have posted. So where is the edit post position, once the post has been published? Didn't know about not posting you email and address.

AnyDVD and plain old NeroRecode 6.6xx had no trouble with this movie doing main movie only. @100%-no copmpression. The movie's not worthy of a dual layer disc. So far I have not run across a movie that was too big for Recode to handle. And CloneDVD will do these serial discs like "24" with no problems. They play and look good for 54-57%compression. JM2C

you should update to 6.6.0.18 . yes your version should have recode 2

anydvd works in the background removing the copy protection so transcoders like recode 2 dvd shrink clonedvd 2 can transcode the store bought DVD.

so put in the DVD like anydvd read it (the fox head in the tray bar will flashed pink then turn red thats when your ready to transcode with recode 2 use this thread for guides and such

Another stauch supporter of 6.6.0.18 signing in...

here's one - http://www.oldversion.com/download.php?i...69b1b77bc9dd094

edit- how dare this version be classed as old, they should have stopped coding on all new versions, declared a national holiday and immortalised it
