True - it's just unusual to see a response so long after the initial message. I do it from time to time though, so I can't really judge :P

Surely it makes more sense to wait for the 1GHz!! 4890 but I dread to think how much that will cost. Although that s a very good deal...

They did sell them in the UK at one point, but there aren't any more on sale at the moment, the last batch of XFX HD4890 Blacks (1Ghz) went for £160, not too bad considering the HD4870 512MB used to cost that much!

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-XFX-H...HDTV-HDCP-Ready
£130.99 for an HD4890.
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Gigabyte-...s-SATA-RAID-ATX
£139 for a Core i7 board.

You can now get the core system components (CPU, GPU, Mobo, RAM) for an i7 system with an HD4890 graphics card for £557, delivered if you're a hexus member. Now that's not at all bad for a high end system like that. Add say a 1TB Caviar Black, Coolermaster RC690, 24x DVD drive and a 550W Corsair VX PSU and you have a really high end gaming PC all built for £760.

I purchased the very same things at Meritline, plus the Serial ATA Dual Power Splitter Cable, Power Two SATA Drives with One Cable. Great price and free shipping.

Rob,
The big problem with those cables is on a drive like my AD-7220s. There is nothing on the top side of the drive socket for it to lock too, so it droops a little. I think someone here at AD broke the connection strip, or something like that once on theirs. I still haven't found the one I put in my customer's computer with the new ODD. I'm sure it came with either a Foxconn, or a BioStar. Black 90 end, straight end. and very flexible and the ends snapped in. Couldn't see any sign of any kind of lock, but they hold tight and snug. It takes a bit to unplug them, and they don't move, if you bump the data cable. So much thinner and flatter too. I should have kept it! LOL!! The only thing written on it is Comex!

Rob,
Here's the AD-7220 from the back. Best pic I could find!

Now compare it to the AD-7240s

The plastic is not as thick, nor does it come out far enough for the lock clip to engage it. I realize that it's hard to see but it's the only pic I could find that showed the rear of the drive. There's nothing where the lock clip clips on but air, above the two barbs on the lock.

You can see the thick plastic on the AD-72405, and how thin it is on the AD-7220s. The AD-7240 locks the cable fine! You can clearly see that on the AD-7220s that while the gap is the same as with the thicker plastic on the AD-7240s, it doesn't come as far towards the rear of the drive, and it stops a bit short of the locking part of the plug. The thicker one on the 7240s, ends flush with the end of the l shaped part the cable plugs into on the drive. That's why it won't lock. There's nothing there to lock it to!

Russ

by chance do you know when your 7220s was made? you might have a older model? mine hase a date of sept 2009 on it and it looks like the 7240s. i know what you mean by the thickness of the port where it plugs in, cause my liteon 20A1S was thin like that and that is what broke on me but mine broke with one of the red cables that didnt have a locking clip on it.

Rob,
Jan 09. On mine it wouldn't matter if the cables were Pink Polka-Dotted, the lock clip would be grasping at air! You can't hook on to what isn't there! LOL!!

Best Regards,
Russ

you think 5850's in crossfire are more powerful? And slightly cheaper? If so, then the only downfall would be games that don't support crossfire...
