first i would like to thank this forum i have been reading it for about 3 months now and took the plunge to get myself a dvd burner i ended up getting pioneer 109 duel layer and sony duel layer i have done about 200 films now,i think i am hooked i use dvd shrink then nero kicks in automatic oviously i can load the film and the blank at the same time and have it down to about 15 mins from start to burnt disc i have never had to use dvd dycripter because dvd shrink has not had a problem with any films even the new releases,my nquestion is why does everybody seem to use decrypter first then shrink then burning software when you dont need decrypter.can anyone help clear this matter up,thanks and thanks to this site

hi

do you use DVD Shrink on its own? with aid to rip say with DVD43 or AnyDVD running in the background?

if not you are lucky indeed, that why we use DVD Decrypter!

tryed sin city or hitch?....

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Like Rotary says...... if it works great for you then be thankful! Others have problems with it and don't really know how to use it. Shrink is a great program and I love it, too! Lots of people have to use DVD43 and AnyDVD to help Shrink decrypt the encryptions on the DVDs. If you are getting everything out of it, you certainly are the lucky one! I only use it for a fast 2 DVDs into one option. Even then I use DVDRemaker! It's all in the matter of what works for you and that's that! Everyone has their preferances, and happy to see that you got the help you needed in AD! I am a member since the beginning of May and have burned over 350 MORE MOVIES since then! And it's all because of AD!

You are indeed very fortunate as I have not found Shrink to be able to backup a number of movies on its own, without the aid of AnyDVD or Decrypter. If Shrink gives you any of these messages then it has to do with protection. This is from Digital Digest
Quote:
DVD Shrink can't backup movies with Sony's DVD protection system ARccOS?. Affected movies are mostly US region 1 DVDs - but also some region 2 DVDs. The problems you notice are:
Data error (cyclic redundancy check)
DVD Shrink will just disappear
Error code "Exception occured"
Error code "Failed to open file - The system cannot find the file specified"
Error code "Invalid DVD navigation structure"
Error code "Out of memory"
Windows system error
Your PC is freezing

I guess I was lucky as well, because at the beginning, prior to my AnyDVD purchase, I used Shrink by itself and no problems. Once I stepped up to using programs such as Dvd Rebuilder, CloneDvd2, Intervideo Copy 3, DVD2One, and many more I loved having AnyDVD in the background. Like I say if it works for you fantastic and stick with it. Congrats Daz1969

@ihoe, I know it sounds strange, but at the beginning I had decrypter as a prog. install, but I never had to decrypt to HD unless I used Rebuilder. I could open up Shrink, open disk, analyze and then it would do deep analysis and encode. I would then burn. No problems!

all I can say is that when I ordered my computer on April 16th it cost over $6400!!!! then on April 18th I saw they had a sale going on....... 33.3% off!!!! So I cancelled my order and I re-ordered with the sale and the same stuff came out to $4200!! I went nuts! A little overboard! but it's all good! and I love my machine!

Rotary....... that's some machine, too! ENJOY! I AM!

if you think about it ........ it's no luck at all....... I ordered my machine after I paid MR Taxman off (April 16th!)-----two days later Dell offered 33.3% to get more people to buy their machines (right after the tax deadline!). And they did this cause they were just about ready to push out the new G5 machines (which by the way is no different than the G4!--in my opinion!). So, Dell lost out on my original sale and I got 2200.00 off! It's always good to check and recheck!!!!! my brother liked mine so much he went out and got the same machine...... but....... he couldn't get the 3.73Ghz, 1066frontside bus ---- they were only offering the 3.6Ghz, 800FSB! Lucky me, AGAIN!

you should check techbargains.com for dell coupons, they always have 1000 off of 2400 or something like that, and 10 percent off for dell preffered users, not to mention free ship (or really cheap ship, now)
