@russ
with our board(mobo)as ive stated mine the 2.1v i cant get ingot the bios to adjust the speed on the board for the fans plugged into it. it is all done auto by the board. so does it sense the temp in the room and around the puter and adjust the speeds on its own???
or should i get a block of dry ice and set t next to the case...lol
is it better to use a lower or higher multi # when OC'ing? i know ive asked this but i dont really remember the answer...loli set at me 3.6ghz but i would like to get my mem up a little bit more above the 800mhz its at now. granted its stable.well not sandra stable...lol
but i think i should be able to run the mem at its rated speed. but then again that might be the PSU problem im haven again..... guess i just need to wait and get the new PSU and go from there.

Unfortunately the board doesn't have fixed controls for fan speed controls, it's all automatic...

well if it s all automatic then i assume i dont have to worry about the speed needing to be changed as for the board/bios will do it.

It does indeed. However, it only works for CPU_FAN and CHA_FAN2.
I just use it for my rear case fan (plugged into CPU_FAN) and it works a treat, fan stays at a rock silent 700rpm at idle and when I run games or open orthos it spins up to about 1100rpm. Still not full speed, because it doesn't consider the CPU hot enough. It's great for me, but I don't know whether other people would be so keen on not being able to adjust it. Still, living in the US you could just get a Sunbeam Theta and have done with it!

I personally don't adjust my fan speed except for the video card fan. All my other fans run at full speed, it sounds like a real Man's machine. I run my video card fan at 60% because it's a whiny little fan.

As far as I'm concerned, any old fool can build a PC that roars like a server room, it takes skill & intelligence to build a powerful gaming PC that's whisper quiet no matter what you throw at it. That said though, if I get a second GPU I fear my PSU may start to make a racket again...

Why, what's wrong with it?
Crashing during the first couple of days of changing your overclock doesn't mean your PC isn't reliable, it just means you haven't finished getting it right yet.... Cheer up! :D

Sam, you see, my computer is not LOUD. It's got this quiet growl, that says "Hey, I can kick your ass, but I choose not to right now". That's the way I see it.

@sam
seeing your not from the states and are a bit younger than most.you might not know who Jack Tatum is. football player for one of the greatest teams ever the Oakland Raiders. that was his nick name. they/he even wrote a book called "They call me the assassin"
and on your Red and Black NZXT case a Raiders LOGO would look nice...
sorry to go way off topic here...lol

Lol. I sold my Growling device (the 900 - the big fan on that was great, it was like a very quiet version of a lion's roar when it spooled up!)

let's call some neutral ground and go with "annoying" - I had one too, but never used it because of the noise - oh and the most absurd lights I've ever seen, flashing multi coloured sequences... Not bad for £3, but very irritating. Suppose I should also mention the fan failed after a few months of very occasional use. Suddenly it didn't light up or spin round and the molex connector got a bit hot!

hey rob,
you might check on crucials website and see if they have a memory configurator like corsair does. you might not have all the memory settings just right for your particular mobo. here's a link to the corsair memory configurator
if nothing else I'd bet there is a crucial forum where you can do some research about problems relating to your memory and mobo.
Rig #1 Asus Rampage Formula Mobo, Intel Core2Quad Q9450 CPU @ 3.55ghz, 2gb Corsair DDR2 1066 Dominator Ram @ 5-5-5-15, TR Ultra 120 Extreme w/ Scythe 9 blade 110 cfm 120mm Fan HSF, HIS Radeon 512mb HD3850 IceQ TurboX GPU, Corsair 620HX P/S, CM Stacker 830 Evo Case, Rig #2 Asus P5W DH Deluxe Mobo, Intel C2D E6600 CPU @ 3.6ghz, 2gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 Ram @ 4-4-4-12-2t, Zalman CNPS9500LED HSF, Sapphire Radeon X850XT PE GPU, Corsair 620HX P/S, Cooler Master Mystique Case, Viewsonic 20.1" Widescreen Digital LCD Monitor, Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 THX Desktop Speakers, http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=348351 http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=236435

plug your mobo in here, crucial memory advisor tool and see if they give some specific settings for your mobo.

Hey guys spread the word. Do NOT recommend Crucial 800Mhz units for overclocking anymore. They're cheap, but if the person plans on overclocking, they are crap now.
