Thanks Adam! You are a great guy.

I downloaded clipta and have been working with it. I did have trouble getting a clip off of the following site. I don't need the clip. I was just doing it for practice but noticed that clipta couldn't find the file for me.

I'm afraid I'm still having the problem I had in my Nov 9 post. Here's what I'm doing:
http://link.brightcove.com/services/play...tid=48483837001

1. Set Catcher to "WDS"
2. Wait for 20m video to end
3. Hit Record on Catcher
3. Click on videos titled "UNG - Part 1", etc.
4. Catcher appears to start recording, but vanishes off my screen after a few seconds
5. Catcher leaves behind a file like "48299820001_49195271001_UNG---Part-1_48D9569E"

6. If I give this file a .swf extension, and drag it into FireFox, Real Media Player will ask if I want to download the file, if I do, it will play like a .swf file but it will only be a few seconds long, and sometimes it will be the 20m video, not the hour long video I want. I've tried letting the hour long videos play in hopes that Catcher will magically return, but it doesn't.

I appreciate all the help I can get.

Open the below link and click on the 1911 pistol in the red box to get it started.

Thanks for your help.

http://m1911.org/full_1911desc.htm

Double check your link. I didn't see a red box.

Sorry......BLUE box; that is the correct link. Pistol is gray and has red wood handles, it says STI International Inc under the pistol magazine well, it says Trojan on the pistol slide, there are 4 columns of small boxes under the barrel.
click on the pistol to get it started.

Here you go:

You need a Macromedia flash player to play the file. I've taken the liberty of up'ing one for you (and everyone!), here:

Did you ever have any luck with this? I am trying to download a Blue Mountain e-card sent to me for my birthday.

Did you still want this? I've figured out how to grab .SWF files. However, it appears that the file doesn't have your family's pics. My suggestion is you screencap it. I can do this for you, if you'd like.

You don't need to wait 20 minutes for the video to end. You can just drag the time marker to the end of the video to queue the end of the clip. And here, I've made a video tutorial for you guys:

ATTENTION ALL NOOBZ: WATCH THE VIDEO LINKED BELOW BEFORE YOU ASK FOR HELP!

http://up2share.com/view/g5zyk82j7
[click and watch]

What I forgot to mention in the video:

1) The video is done when there is a green check mark next to it. If the video has a connection break the web dumper will stop and the file will only be partially saved. This will result in a blue icon of two connecting pieces and a partially downloaded file on your hard drive. BE SURE TO DELETE THAT FILE. Right-click on the file in Replay Media Catcher, select "delete" and try the file again. If you do not delete the failed download, you wind up wasting precious space on your hard drive.

2) Your video will likely download in .FLV format. If you don't have a player to utilize this format type, I HIGHLY suggest you use either Applian's FLV Player or VideoLAN's VLC Player. Both are freeware and both are amazing. Once your video has finished downloading, the file extension should be visible. For example, if you were to watch the infamous Charlie Bit Me video on YouTube, you would see the file stored in Replay Media Catcher as, "CharlieBitMe.flv", or something similar to that. YouTube's directory likely isn't that simplistic, however. ; )

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Thanks for going above and beyond the call of duty to post this! I wish it solved my problem. I've taken the liberty of making my own recording of what I'm doing:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgN_YcREgHU

In this 7min vid I make 4 attempts to download (several of the 13 vids I'm after) using MediaCatcher. Each time, MC only records a few seconds then crashes. Requiring me to reopen MC each time.

On the 5th try I download a vid from Youtube with no trouble at all.

Note that the only screen capture program I have is HyperCam 2, and it doesn't see my cursor or the MC main window! Although you can see my settings, sub-windows, and where I'm clicking.

Here's the link I'm starting with:
http://link.brightcove.com/services/play...tid=49278823001

If you can't see a solution, but you could rapidshare the 13 vids for me, that would still be awesome! Thanks!

If you can't see a solution, but you could rapidshare the 13 vids for me, that would still be awesome! Thanks!

Jeff,

1) Though it isn't important, I'd suggest you ditch HyperCam and start using Jing (by Tech Smith). It's less RAM-intensive, has a greater video compression ratio (which leads to smaller video sizes) and can export video to .SWF, making the videos easily embedded online. And it's freeware! Again, just an unimportant suggestion.

2) I'll host the videos and send them to you. They're huge files, though, so rather than host them on Rapid Share, I'll be using Up2Share.com since Rapid Share limits anonymous uploads to 200 MB, whereas Up2Share has a 500 MB limit. The first video I've downloaded so far is about 500 MB- are you sure you're going to have enough space on your hard drive to download these, Jeff? If this first video is indicative of the sizes of the other videos, you're going to need (a rough estimate here) about at least 8 GBs of free hard drive space to download the videos and watch them without annoying video lag. Are you sure you can meet this minimal requirement?

3) If you guys are big Say Anything fans, be sure to check out my new uploads I JUST NOW DID on YouTube of Max Bemis' performance at Chain Reaction, from May of last year. I finally got permission from both Max Bemis and Tom Rowles (video content owner who has the rights to the video performance) to host the video on YouTube. I was there in person at the concert, I saw it myself! So don't be a dork, check them out (it's a series of videos; the performance was almost an hour long), you can watch each song individually here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/adamXcore

Also, if you haven't checked out Say Anything's new self-titled album, get on that son!

Cheers!

HTOWNTEX,

I missed this post because when you quoted me, you replied at the top of the post. You must make sure that after you click "quote", you write your reply BELOW everything that's already been said. If you write it on the top, you run the risk of confusing the person you're talking to because all they'll see is your post with nothing new on the bottom.

Anyway, to the point: The video you want is streamed on Comedy Central, which sucks for us because that means that it is being streamed via RTMPE, Adobe's newest proprietary streaming protocol which encrypts media streams with .SWF verification. As far as I know, no one has really come out with a way around this. Some programs are able to pick up the streams (the program GetFLV, for example), but those programs seem to really be hit-and-miss. I know from experience that GetFLV doesn't pick up every RTMPE stream. And Jaksta really doesn't help much either.

Our best shot with a video like this (as much as it may make us cringe to concede), is to settle with a HQ screen-capture program, like Jing. Give it a try and if you can't manage, let me know and I'll give it a go.

Actually, I take that back. I've just downloaded a new program which seems to be able to grab only a FEW videos from Comedy Central. Here's the one you want:

Got the Badongo files just fine. Thanks again for all the links and hard work!

It does, but I'd prefer to just continue the conversation here if that's okay with you. That way if/when newcomers find this site, if they diligently read through every post from beginning to end (as I did), they'll be able to learn from it.

And I don't mind helping.

Cool. Thanks again. I hope you're able to pass me the rest of the vids.

BTW, I've tried media catcher on several different computers now. The one that actually ran the program gives me the same error. On two other coms I get the fatal "cannot load plug-ins" error and it won't even start up. If I had a paid copy of this program I'd be tearing customer service a new one.

No problem. I have about 40GB of space.

Got the Badongo files just fine. Thanks again for all the links and hard work!

Does this forum even have private messaging? I'd hate to fill up this thread w/ my personal requests for links to badongo files.
