might be kewl for say a dart game, thrust the controller forward toward the screen (without letting go of course) and a virtual dart hits the dart board.

first off i would be glade to see homebrew but several things really grab my attention

my list would be

purchase a revolution

wait about a year for the ps3 to come down to a 200.00 or less price tag when they realeasethe ps3 we all know that gamers are not going to spend over 700.00 for a game console

then get a microfry 360 oops i mean a microsoft 360

wait a minute here! I think game physics is NOT an issue of raw processor power. Rather a case of somebody spending the time to do it. Look at GT1 on the PS1 as well as GT2. Both games had AMAZING physics to them. And that PS1 has LESS power than the current GC. So if the revo is as powerfull as 2 GC's or just ONE XBOX you cant say that there isnt enough processor power there to have all the p[hysics you want. Look at HL2 for XBOX. the physics in that game are unmatched in any other game I have seen. And it seems to handle that just fine. You loose MOST of your porcessor power trying to make the game look good. And there comes a point where you have to decide "do I want the game to look that much better, or do I want to spend a little more time on AI?" and sadly most companies go for the better graphics. Thats because MOST people look at SCREENSHOTS to decide if they want to buy a game. And there is maybe a side note about how realistic the physics are.

The pysics engine has not changed much from GT4 to Gt2, so I woiuld like to dismiss that as a valid comment.

Yes the lighting capabilities make it more possible to implement strategic parts of the game using the light and dark environments. But really HOW many games REALLY need to have that capability? SPlinter cell??? Maybe the Resident evil series! But the vast majority of games use in game lighting to make the special effects of explosions and such a little more nice to look at. But those have gotten FAR away from being realistic to looking more Star Wars like. WHen was the last time you saw a car explode? In real life its really not that impressive! IN movies they use high speed camera's to make a 1 second explosion last 30 or more seconds. So we can see a LOT more detail to it. Not to mention that they add special gases, and chemicals to make it come out with all kinds of pretty colors and such. They just carry this over to video games. But thats NOT REAL LIFE!!

With the current game systems they have the ability to make ALL the AI they want, as well as ALL the special effects they need to mimic real life. Now they are just getting to STUPID amounts of power to do other things. Things like run media center extenders on a game system. Or run DVD's and network your dishwasher to it.

Since the Revo is a GAME SYSTEM and that is ALL they dont need the extra power. Look at the current GC. They can make the games look as pretty as the PS2 or Xbox. but their BIGGEST problem is media! They run out of space on the disk before they run out of ideas. Anyone who has played them has always had the same complaint.

"the game was good, but WAY to short!". Thats couse they ran out of room!!

NOW, look at the 360. It uses standard DVD9 as its medium. Towards the end of this game systems life cycle (more likely in less than 1 year) you are going to see developers start complainging about the limited space on the disk. You will see A LOT of games made for the PS3 that when they port it to the 360 it will NOT have as much content or will be missing levels or skins or both!

You will quickly have XBOX competing for second place against the Revo. And in a market segment they dont want to be in! I hope they left an option for an add on HD-DVD player on there.

IN the end though. I would rather buy a REVO over the other 2 mainly because I have young children and Nintendo has always been targeted more at younger kids. I have a SNES emu on my PS2 and my kids just play that. If I can get a REVO and have them not be playing my PS2 then I would be happy. Not to mention all the options you can add with that controller!

If nobody already knows it is discussed in the latest Nintendo Power and GamePro magz. There is also pics and dates.

I pledge allegiance to the Cheese Clan,
and to all those who made it true,
a group of people for which it stands,
one clan under any god,individually,
with chunky cheese curds and cheese nips for all.

I am looking forward to this system. It will be reasonably priced & also I believe it will be a bit of a 'dark horse' and outsell the big two.
