I have got it !!!
Most of you have the Problem: DVDVideo files reallocation error problem, here is the answer:
I used Nero 5.5.9.0 ( you must use this version, cause dvd video wasn t supported in 5.5.8.0) Dvd Decripter and IfoEdit (newest Version both) Just follow the Guide of doom9.org to copy the DVD but before you press the "get Vts sectors" button , you have to copy the video ifo and video bup from the original cd to your dvd 1 folder ( only to the first dvd part, cause the second always works) !!!! (In Black Hawk Down these are the vts_01_0.ifo and the vts_01_0.bup files) the ones with 100kb file size !!! just overwrite the the old ones (the 66kbs files ) and then use the "get vts sectors" button in one of the ifo files on every part of the cd, as it its the normal way! now the dvds are ready, and you can burn with nero 5.5.9.0 the dvd 1 and dvd2 using the dvd video mode ! it works perfectly on normal dvd players in pc, tomorrow i will know, if it does same in standalone :)Normally it should so ! Hope i could help most of ya !

UnHa - if you read my way to do it a while back in this thread, you would see I already said to do that.
Thats not the problem anyway - the problem is bad IFO files in the first place with Nero - you have just corrected your IFO file.

Man I know what you mean!
I started off a few weeks ago with a Vivistar burner which worked beautifully, but then I bought 100 Bulkpaq DVD-R's and had nothing but problems.
I bought a new Pinoeer DVR-104 writer and I've just found out that its the Bulkpaqs that are faulty, not the writer.
Media plays a big part in the standalone players too - the best I have found so far is Whitelabel - really good :)
Good luck!

I did everything you's said and burned the DVD fine but it doesnt play on my DVD player for ma T.v downstairs, but it plays on ma pc fine just like a normal dvd,
My dvd player downstairs supports VCD's also so could that be a solution,
Would it work better if i made each Half of the DVD into a image file???

Hey guys i really need some help here. I'm a newbie at all this business and after reading through the manuels and discussions you guys are incredibly smart. And so i need some help in translating what you guys say to what i need to do... in following mscogna's guide... i have ripped the dvd using dvd decrypter but i am stuck on step 3 when it says load "video_ts", there is an open button on the bottom but i am not sure what exactly i'm opening. Do i open one of the vob files or what? If any of you could help out a moron like me i would much appreciate it!!!

To open Ifo-Files with Ifoeditor, click on the ifo file itself, choose "select the program from a list" and there you should select browse and search for your ifoedit.exe, thats all, you must open it that way ! surfer18 do you use ifoedit v 0.92 and dvd decrypter newest version ? Make sure you have already made 2 new directories for the 2 new dvds , cause ifoedit is not able to make new directories : so in destination directory and 2nd destination directory you have to choose two directories that already exist !!!
Hmm i have a new Problem: My DVD works perfectly on PC DVD but my friend told me, they don't work in his 2 dvd standalone tv players! Music is fine, but the picture is going crazy, he didn t explain me exactly, what he sees on the desk, but should be something colorful :) Its the same for disc 2, as it is for disc 1, don t know what it is. I used the Philips DVD+rw228 and two verbatim dvd+r s. My Friend has the Pioneer 444 Multizone ( should support region 1+2) and the second is an older non multi zone player of pioneer). He said he doesn t know if it s a problem of zone 1, cause he has never tried to play a normal dvd region1 , but only region 2 (i am from europe) so do you think, this could be a problem of the regions settings of his dvd standalone ? i can t test it, cause i have no dvd standalone player :(

UnHA - what media are you using? If it works okay on one set top player, then there is nothing wrong with the way you are burning the movie etc, its down to the media.
Personally I have found White Label DVD-R to be playable on everything I have thrown it at.

Hi! Yeah it worx!
My DVD works perfectly in his DVD standalone, no problems at all with it. The other guy, in whose dvd player it didn t work, had a problem with his tv itself! seems like it doesn t support the american ntsc system, but only pal! told him, that he shopuld look for a system setting where he could probably change it, but he's a t work now, so he can t immediately look for it :)
So i have no Problem anymore with the DVD Video burning ;) lucky !

I did "A Beautiful Mind" a few weeks ago, split to two discs, using the method I described way above.
It works fine, is the same quality of sound and vision, but I do not bother with the extras or the menu.
Do my method above - works great
Sigh, here goes!
---
DVD Decrypter (3.1.1.0) - select all the chapters from 1 onwards until you have less than 4.3Gb of data in total -- decrypt to a directory called "CRY1"
Now do the rest of the chapters and decrypt to a directory called "CRY2"
Now copy the VIDEO_TS.IFO file directly from the DVD to both CRY1 and CRY2 directories.
Use IFO Edit and Split Streams etc. and create new IFO's - send them to a directory called DVD1 (from CRY1) and do the same to DVD2 (from CRY2).
Now go into the newly created .IFO's in DVD1 and Region Free, Save, Remove PUP's, and GET VTS Sectors.
Do the same in DVD2 - you now have both directories ready to burn to two DVD's with Nero etc.

Beautiful Mind has been the easiest one I did.
All I am geting with Ifoedit now is a mixed bag of results from total failure of my table top and PC DVDrom to read the 2 split dvds to have only the PC DVDrom work on the split DVD.
I found that the safest way is to split the streams with smart and remux and reauthor the disks with something like reeldvd.

Hmm the Method with DVD Decrypter and Ifoedit should work fine! Use Vinsters or the same one as i use (look @ this entry of me: UnHaFox 7 Aug 2002 4:35 PM) works fine with all DVDs, i have no splited 3 movies that way, and all of them work in dvd standalone players... so just do it the right way, and it MUST work.
Hmm in fact DVD copying is not yet a really cost effective thing... You need DVDrs (10 euro both) to burn one original dvd (older original dvds like American Beauty cost 10 euros 2) so in fact there is no reason to do a backup of your dvd, when you can buy the original for that price...
or does anybody know, where i can get dvd+r's much cheaper ?:)
*/me is hoping that prices of dvdr's will decrease like the cdr's did...*
ah yes sorry, my english is shit, i know :o)

some corrections of my previoulsy posted message (edit doesn t work with me, don t know why):
i have no splited 3 movies" should be "i have now splited 3 movies
and
You need DVDrs (10 euro both")should be "You need 2 DVDrs (10 euro both)
sorry for that :)

The correct English would be "DVD+R backups" are not cost effective, however, "DVD-R backups" are more than cost effective.
Example:
Lord of the Rings - £19.99
2 x DVD-R @ £0.50p = £1.00
Rental of LOTR = £3.00
Total outlay = £4.00
Therefore the backup for Blockbuster video (its illegal to backup if you don't own it!) is £4.00
Cost effective me thinks :)

That's some bizarre math you've got there Vinster. I'm sure what you meant was:
LOTR = £19.99
LOTR+DVD-R -backup = £19.99 + £2 = £21.99
LOTR+another copy of LOTR for backup = £39.98
=)
Edit:
Actually LOTR is just £16.99 at Play.com
