you can play the imbnes on the ps2 or psone. For PS2 you need a modchip(check to see if your modchip can automatically detect psone format) or bootcd that allows playing PSX cds, one that just runs PS2 games won't work.

Modchip...yes i have the DMS 4 Pro. But i just want to know do i have to use alot of cds to run all the roms that i have cause i have a few gigs of it. (Some are hacked some are messed up some are made so it could play on the PC emu , different countries...) Or could i run it off of a dvd somehow. And about the SNES i could run the ELF off of TOXIC OS so it doesnt matter but still a bit of hastle, but its cool
Thx

What about dreamcast? Do the emulators need to be specially made to use on the ps2?

Not sure what you are trying to say... read the first page though all the answers you need seems to be there (depending on what your answer is)

Can I use a dreamcast emulator instead of a snes emulator? is that possible I see a list of all the emulators, but not one for dreamcast. Are there no at least somewhat recent emulators that we can use on the ps2 swap magic program load thing. I dunno how to explain this any better, im horrible at it.

Only if there's a DC emulator out there, I'm not too sure cos I don't use it but I don't think there's one for DC.
emulators on the PS2 isn't as good as PC in general, if you want good emulators go for the PC ones

what did you do? there's a lot of steps that you did that could've gone wrong, and you aren't telling us any of that, you need to give a lot more info than that if you need help...
What is "a lot o roms"? 10? 100? 1000?

Hey, this emulation on ps2 stuff is new to me, but I'm looking forward to trying some things out. This thread has been very helpful, but I have some questions.
1) I just ordered Magic Keys II which comes with Swap Magic 3.8. Am I to understand that imbnes will not work using this? Will I be able to play backup ps1 games with this kit?
2) Can I fit every released SNES title onto a DVD-R? I have the same question for genesis, nes and atari. The only other ps2 emu I am interested in is mame, and I understand that you can only use 30 titles.
3) Are there any other emulators in development for ps2? Is it likely that we will ever see emus for n64, dreamcast, saturn or tg16?
4) Does Pgen work with 32x and Sega CD roms?
5) Does anyone have screenshots of the guis for these emulators? Also, with ps2 mame, can you apply specific controls with each game like you can on the pc versions of mame?
6) Lastly...in all truth, how well do these things work?
Thanks for the help.

1. yes you can but to boot up psone you need a method like action replay(psone)or breaker pro disc to boot up psone
2.for Snes and Genesis you can put as much as you want on a dvd only it doesn't max to 4.37G but for nes and atari you have to burn it on a cd-r. For mame you can only play old games you can put 30 roms or it how the way you build it if you put them in there own directories you can have as much as you want
3.For the mean time no there no update on emulators for ps2 the playstation 2 isn't powerful enough to run emus n64, dreamcast, satrun

Alright, I found a word document somewhere on the net that lists all of the ps2mame games that work. The problem is that the list is about 5 years old. I know it'll only play older games, so there are a couple that I am curious about:
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
Super Street Fighter II
Super SF2 Turbo
Has anyone tried these? Do they work? Also, is there and updated list of working mame roms?
Thanks again, folks!

I just re-checked the list and it said SSF2 does work, but it had no mention of Turbo. Kind of weird that SSF2T wouldn't work, and yet X-Men vs. Street Fighter does. I was getting my hopes up for MSHvSF when I saw that XMvSF works. It sucks because there are no arcade perfect console version of the early "vs" titles out there. Oh well. At least I'll have XMvSF. Plus, the old school XM:COTA and MSH.
Outside of SF and Mortal Kombat games, I'm looking forward to having the old beat-em-ups. X-Men, Simpsons, TMNT, Alien vs. Predator, Final Fight...this is so my childhood. I'll have to get NBA Jam too.

theend757- great guide, i will definitley use this soon!
I have a question relating to HD loader and emu's.
Can i keep the emu's/roms on my pc, and transfer to my ps2 formatted HD using Winhiip or HD Dumb and load them with something like HD Loader or HD Advance? If so, would you provide some tips how to do it (for example, copy emu seperatley and then copy roms in another folder)?

the OP (original post) deserves much respect for all the work. Thanks man! Your emulation DVD building can also be applied to rebuilding CD games --> DVD games, in case anyone was interested. Sort of this this: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/267381
