Quote: NIntendo Hasnt really stayed to their roots 10 years ago When I got a N64 they were shoowing how powerfull it was not gameplay now their saying gameplay over power and to prove this my N64 box said on the side "The Worlds fastest and most powerfull gaming system"
An interesting note. But there is some background that should be noted there. The PS1 launched in 1994. Some people will say 95 or 96, but they started selling it in 94. The n64 launched in 96, two years later. Nintendo would have been stupid not to use better hardware, that's just plain obvious. As for bragging about it, whether you're about graphics or gameplay; if you're dealing with another company threatening what had been your market share for so long, and you have a better set of hardware specs, then yes; you will print that on the box.
Besides, can you honestly say that Nintendo's first party games didn't have great gameplay on that system? Mario Kart? Mario 64? And (while I personally detested it) Mario Party was well loved by many fans. True, a lot of third party developers focused on graphics, but Nintendo always has focused on great gameplay; but being your focus, doesn't mean you can't brag about having good hardware when the shoe fits.
As for the Wii, I think it's a good reminder for a lot of people, as to what Nintendo's roots really are, in many ways. Overall, I've got to say, I am hoping this system marks a triumphant return for them, but no one can really tell yet.

I agree that there games are great if you read my reviews on gamespot oyu will know that I love N64 games no game that I have rated hasnt got under 8.9,I loved Super mario 64 and I still enjoy playing it on the ds Mario kart 64 was great Goldeneye was the best shooter I veer played Yoshis's story was just cute LOL,Zelda I cant even explain how good they were on N64 I loved the F1 games on it Like Grand Prix 2 and Pole position 64 they looked much better then the psone F1 games they were much less pixilated they sure did have a point but I I were doing it I wouldnt say anyhting liek not care if that console is about gameplay or graphics infact Id do both at once which would cost a massive amount maybe thats why Nintendo didnt choose to do graphics.
Question:
When the wii is playing gamecube games does it emulate it or does it have a gamecube cpu in it like the ps2 has a psone cpu in it because if it did emulate it that would be pretty powerfull you need like a 3.0ghz pc to run a gamecube emulator heaps smooth

Because Hollywood and Broadway are extensions of Flipper and Gecko, I think the Wii just straight up plays the game.

I defintiely have to agree with oofRome on this one. There is no way the system could handle anything other than straight hardware emulation. Even the PS3 is using it in a very strong way to run PS2 games(I posted a long explanation of this elsewhere). The 360 is the only system that seems to be doing software emulation, and look at how badly it's backwards compatibility is doing; I'm so dissapointed in this, but really it's not M$ fault, it's because NVidia(Who did the graphics chipset on the original 'box) refused to allow pipeline emulation for the 360(Powered by ATi) which legally kept M$ from being able to do it.
Ironically, if you examine some of the hacks released for the 360; you'll note that they have gotten ALL titles working flawlessly through direct hardware methods.... The same methods NVidia put a legal halt to against M$ and ATi. It's a shame, but it ruined a lot of people's fun, and really hurt the system in the long term.

1. I just bought an $80 DivX dvd player and Wii is about being small so DVD playback isn't that important to me.
2. Retro games are awesome since i owned Sega consoles.
3. It is $200 because you're getting Wii sports included :D

The ps3 has ps2s chipset inside inorder to play ps2 games. Sony said that the emulater programe was unstable and that down the road when the program work flolessly they will remove the ps2 chipset (save money) and run ps2 games thru the program.

The PS3 containing the old PS2 chip is no secret, it has been confirmed by Kaz Hirai, and mentioned at one of the public demonstrations. The system *does* utilize the Core processor while running the games however, just not in an orthodox way. The core processor itself is used to anti-aliase the image on a base level, which allows them to create a crisp, clean 1080p image of the ps2 game, almost regardless of age, engine, etc; unlike early PS2s running some older ps1 games, where cracking and fragmenting could be seen. It is a very effective method as well; I really have to give Sony a lot of credit for choosing this method over others. It allows them to add a LOT of gaming value right at launch.
Although, this method has been used by Nintendo on their gameboy line for nearly a decade. When the GBC released, it used a new chip for color games, but included the old chip both to allow old games, and some games to be multi-compatible. They did it with the GBC and the GBA, but almost completely removed it with the DS, adding only the GBA chip to keep costs down, while still supporting more than the initial (And very weak) launch lineup on the DS.

This is the longest run-on sentence E have ever seen, and we dont care how much money you make, 110au is nothing, and your parents would buy it for you? Was that part of your sentence suggesting your parents are wealthy? No I don't think so as you wouldnt work at Target if they were.

I dont work at Target no more my short term contract ran out 2 weeks ago so I got a job at Mc donalds now,$110au is alot of money to be earning when you are 14 for practically nothing well all I used to do was stock the shelves i wrote that to show how cheap the wii is.
Why wouldnt I work at Target?
Everyone works somewhere once they get to high school no matter how rich their parents are.The reason I do it because I hate asking my parents always for something instead I earn it and i buy it without a hassle when its my own money.
By the way you do know its a forum dont you?

To a degree, I can relate. When I was in High School, I accidentally fell in with a really rich kid who had hundreds of thousands at his disposal on whatever whim he pleased. Admittedly, it was cool (Because he helped me out a few times :D ) but there's a good feeling about doing it yourself.
@DVDRyan
Super Mario Sunshine... Definitely worth a good playthrough. Despite really bad ads, and poor cover art; this was an EXCELLENT addition to the Mario series, which was most pleasing to those willing to sit down and give it a shot. An entirely new physics was available, through the pressure-washer. I highly recommend this.
Also, if you can deal with a game being a bit 'cutesy' I HIGHLY recommend Animal Crossing. This thing is addictive like you wouldn't believe. It's the kind of game that starts off boring, yet you keep coming back. After about a month, you find yourself returning for about an hour almost every night, trying to get just a few dollars more to pay off your mortgage, hunting frantically for fossils, or turning your town into a forest. Trust me on this, I'm kind of super-a.d.d. and I can't keep myself away from it now.

Super Mario sunshine was a great game I agree it lasted long collecting all of the stars and was the first mario game and only one so far to have movie clips that run at a higher quality then gameplay and full speech in every clip.

Geez, I'm tempted to play it again now. But hey, having the Wii in my living room, and the GC in the other room, it won't matter. I am kind of hoping the new classic controller will be usable on Wii games, but it sounds unlikely. Oh well, I can dream.... Until Sunday. lol.
