First off let me say i was really exited about the Wii, i thought this was going to be a great system and Nintendo wasn't just about the money. $250 are you serious, first it won't play dvd's, second if i wanted to pay around that price i'd buy a xbox 360, because nintendo won't have games like the next GTA. $10 for a N64 download thats a joke haven't they raped us enough over the years.
System should have been $200
NES games $1
SNES $2
N64 $4 at the max give me a break its all about the money and i've got other things i can buy at reasonable prices

I'm inclined to agree with the title of this thread.
Granted, I knew Nintendo was "about the money", but I also thought they were more focused on their mass appeal goals. I think they overpriced games by 5 dollars (VC and regular), the wiimote+nunchuk by at least 10 dollars (A wiimote+nunchuk costs more than a 360 controller and probably the same as a ps3 controller), and at least 25 dollars on that launch price.
plus, it's the last system to launch.
To me, it seems like Nintendo could've Boned these conferences in the Head, but instead they stretched their pricing and launch date to the limits. in a bad way.

right on I agree ,I think the Wii should have been 200 dollars it would have been nice also I think they would have been better if the d-loadable game were free and I liked revolution better then Wii I hate that name but im still gone buy one

If you were to get a xbox360 it would cost more then $50.00. You would need a game and if you wanted to save you would need a memory card. So your talking atlest another $150.00.
Note, the Wii will come with a game and have internal memory in the unit and in the controler for saves.

The way I look at is since they included Wii Sports for free it evens out. I was planning on buying that for $50 anyway, so even if the console had launched at $200 I would have effectively spent $250 to get it with Wii Sports if it wasn't included for free. I don't believe any of the other consoles have launched with a free game.

Well ps3 can't be 300 dollars cause they are already losing money on their system they are making their money off of games. Not like I disagree with you I would love the ps3 to be cheaper but you get what you pay for right?

250 bucks 399 au are you serious thats nothing im guessing most of you are unemployed well im only 14 but i work at target in australia 110au per week even if i didnt my parents would still buy it they bought me the ps2 for xmas 2001 when it was like 650au 400 is nothing really please dont winge and the first post it dosent even play dvd's console dvd players suck much crapier quality than the actualy hting and a dvd player now days is what from 39-120au + all the other things the wii can do y want the dvd player im just excited about the games like zelda n super mario glaaxy been waiting for a mario game since sunshine n realistic zelda god knows how long since 2000 maybe when majoras mask came out its not about the dvd's n other crap its about the games thats y its called a game console i reckon all this mp3 built in players its crap what ever happend to the true meanaing of gameconsles that meaning dissapered when psone came out with cd player function and nintendo is not ripping no one off the console is pretty neat with the wii-mote wi-fi n other stuff plus a game added to all of that i dont see why any one should complain who gives about gta the pc can play gta and 10 for n64 isnt too bad for me as i have a heap of n64 games id love to play in 480dpi like 007 n sm64 zelda plus thers more then likely someone thats going to hack the system and get roms in to play for free

well I guess that not bad though and thats how they keep fans even in this day and age its cheap I remember when I got my nintendo those were the days lol $99 dollars how much was the Super NES I forgot? and the N64? I know the gamecube was $199 im tryin to see the pattern here because the Wii is $250 , I guess the Wii 2 would be $300 lol I guess im roundin shit off

but 399 au is a low price people its what they said they said 150-250us dollars way back at the e3 so they never said it wouldnt be 250 its because no one thinks clearly then comes back crying that they didnt tell him when it clearly stated on th e3 150us-250us and back then we didnt even think you would get a free game with it. if you all that complain start saving like 20-30au a week you could get it by december 7th easily if you were in australia.

Yeah well sometime's a cheap price look's bad on the system because people think "why is it so less?". But at the same time it is a good thing because people say "oh great that is a lot cheaper then a xbox 360 and a ps3 I'll go with that". So it really depends on what personality the person has. Oh and how rich they are.

Yeah sony has fre online play as well. Well at leats for ps2 they do they might change it for the ps3 but I doubt it. But he is just stating that Wii is free as well...

I think big N-ten had to put the Wii at a profitable price to bank in hey lets face it Sony will be bankin money with 600 dollar consoles and Micro is bankin in 400 off the 360 so I can see why they asked for a little more and really they probably could have charged 300 for the Wii , if they wanted to , they need a nice profit comin to compete.
