sorry one last question, i had a crack at basarios with a long sword and nothing i do can penetrate him. Ill try using a bow, i have a kut ku stave 1 and a wild bow 3 and might buy a hermitaur bow. Which would be most effective against basarios
wild bow or daiymo war bow will do. their 3rd charge is pierce lv3 which is good for basarios. basarios is weak against water, but wild bow's raw damage is enough. garuga is also weak against water so you'll eventually want the daiymo bow. remember that you need a different set of armor for a gunner type weapon, so save that money for new armor if you dont already have it. also skiesofcroda.com is a monster hunter dedicated site.

I killed basarios in no time with wild bow. What an easy monster. It only took me 8 min which is laughable.
yea, he is laughable, even later on. however, his daddy, gravios, is a real force.
in order to increase your hr, you have to quest in the guild hall. i found this list, but it was for monster hunter portable 2nd g. it's an expansion to the japanese version of the game. it should be relatively close though. btw, you can get to hr9 in mhp2ndg, but only hr6 in mhf2

Have you got 2nd g? and if so can u read japenese or have english patcher? Ive been thinking of downloading it with english patch. As long as the items and quest infomation are translated it should be english enough to play.
Hehe, I wish I could read japanese. As far as I've gotten the patch has translated all quest names, requirements, armor, weapons, and items. Only some quest details and some of what some NPC's say hasn't been translated.
Also, if you get MHP2ndG, Wifi Max, and Xlink, we could play together. Btw, you can use sonic bombs to force Cephadrome out of the sand and if you stand a bit in front of his head while he's out, he will probably shoot sand at you (which can be easily dodged) and you can get in a good hit on his neck with a Great Sword.
