dont get it, its a waste of time and is way too hard. Plus the monsters are too hard, things cost too much in the game and just everythings wrong or makes no sense.

I disagree with both Pred3 and mrgooey, first off Pred3, it's not a game you can beat in about 20 hours, you actually have to play about 100 hours or more to get some decent cash and armor. Any fan of the series will tell you that.
Also, cheating makes the game so boring, yes you have everything, yes you can kill something really fast, but no you won't have fun because there's nothing you can't do! It's not the best game out there, but it's pretty good, GameSpot gave it a 5.0 but critics gave it a 7,4 and users gave it a 9.0, see the difference?
It really is a good game there are some good sites out there for support, and on PSP it has the almost the same graphics as the PS2 version (the effects are lower.) I'd look into getting it, it's fun with friends, looks good and has many cool features (like the cats!) Watch some YouTube videos to see if you like it first, or try to find the semi-rare (in Canada at least) "Monster Hunter" the first in the series.

But cryotec this was my second psp game, it was so boring. it took me a week to figure out how to cook the meat!!!! And then when i got past this i was mutilated by little blue demon dinosaurs. And when i finally got a descent sword i break in in like a few minutes. ITS JUST A BAD BAD BAD GAME!

Did you do the training missions? I know training sucks, but for this game it REALLY helps, I went back to training after I was a highg level and actually learned stuff! Try some Faqs or Walkthroughs they usually help. By the way did you mean Giaprey? Also about your sword breaking, in the item box at the beginning of a mission are things called whetstones, when you sword loses sharpness use these to fix them! Don't judge the game, you should see how many japanese kids bought the game! 1.9 million happy customers doesn't lie!

No one sucks at this game, it's hard at first, trust me I logged 800+ hours on "Monster Hunter" and "Monster Hunter Freedom 2" alone lol.

Excuse me, but if it just you who says this trash then it is not very convincing, the problem is not the game it is you.

The game needs skill, and if you are suky, you'll never, ever kill tigrex! I still need to kill blangonga to get to HR2. But I'm star4 in chief. By the way, HOW DO YOU KILL KUSHALA DOURA! I can't beat it yet. And if you die because veloicipray killed you, you need practice. They barely do any damage to me.

If your sword loeses sharpeness quickly, it means the sharpeness is so low! (like orange or yellow! Most of mine are grreeeeennnn, but no blues)

This is a BAD game. I was watching a game program when I saw Monster Hunter 2. It looked so cool! I decided to try it out, when I was doing the tutorial thingy in the academy... it took so long! Despite that it was kinda fun.
But then when i finished the tutorial, its like you just stay in a village and can never leave the place unless you get a quest. The quests are so hard and complicated! Even the controls and stuff are stupid.
The only thing I like about this is the graphics, there is no storyline whatsoever.

lets see where should i start...i beat the game in about 16 hours. played it for 8 hours for 2 days fun as hell. but i was gonna trade it in because i got bored. i felt a pang of regret because i never unlocked EVERYTHING. then i heard about CWcheat. so i ended up harmodding my battery into pandora and buying a new battery. buying a new memstick to make into magicstick. and the next thing u know i loved the game all over again. im so happy!!!!!!!!! i also create my own hacks for the game.....

I really doubt you beat it in 16 hours without cheats, 1 quest takes roughly 20 minutes, (Lao-Shan-Lung takes EXACTLY 30 minutes). Maybe you got pretty far, but I doubt beat is the word you looking for. Also cheating is so dumb, I remember when online Capcom banned you for doing that stuff. It's hard, takes time to learn, but it's worth it when you go play with friends and they literally say "OMG!? WHAT ARMOUR ARE YOU WEARING!?" A lot of reasons that Monster Hunter gets bad reviews is because reviewers play it for 10 hours and quit. Play it, love it, or leave it.

i did not really beat it. beating it means u 100% it and got every single armor and weapon in your possession. i was just talking about the gathering hall quests. two kirin is easy if u know how to separate them.

If some friends have the game, yeah. It only has a Ad-Hoc mode not an infastructure, so if you can get a few friends into you'll be killing huge dragons in no time!

Honestly this game depends on what you like. I personally like this game, but there is absolutely no story, and killing monsters, is hard, rewarding, and can also be extremely frustrating if after a twenty/thirty minute fight with a monster thats almost dead, then you die from some crazy last ditch attack. The only purpose seems to me to be to kill more monsters, to use their remains to make better weapons and armor. If that sounds like your cup of tea, I'd say check it out.

This game could've been quite something was it infrastructure, but unfortunately the retards who made this game just wanted to make a few extra bucks instead of ensuring quality and didn't bother.
So instead, you gotta buy some lame hardware, go through struggles with its software to play online at home, as opposed to playing a good MMORPG for the computer itself.
This game is a total waste, in my opinion. Unless you have 2 or 3 other friends to play with, this game should've never come out.

i have to agree if u don't know anyone with MHF2 in the area its pretty boring. lucky for me all my friends have the game so we have to take turns doing 4 people gathering hall quests. last week we were bored and decided to face a teostra with no armor on. it killed us with one swipe!!!!!!! xD >_<

Why do people think it is Such a Bad Game?!..Theres even a training school so you can learn how to play there..The controls arent too complicated.If the controls were any different it would make the game much much harder than you think.Really I think its a great game.So what theres no storyline? Some really good games dont have a storyline either.and those of you looking to play with people but noone else has the game, theres something called Xlinkkai and it allows you to play psp games with other people around the world.google it.Its really not as bad as some people think it is though.Id give it an 8.5/10.Just my rating tohugh.

i fully agree with that. i love the game. i bought it the first week it came out because my friend suggested it, and i loved it. im still playing it and still don't have everything!! it always occupys me on long car rides!! xP
another thing i agree with is about games don't have to have storylines to be good. look at GTA series, they have a storyline but its entirely up to you on how to unfold it. thats what makes games so good...freedom to do whatever u want in a game and not have to do a mission and instead just hijack some old lady's car in GTA 4 xD
