Heh! No matter how young they are they will install the moon shell if they ever want it.
I would say go ahead and install it, though. It is easy enough to delete.

I'm having the same problem! I emailed the R4 tech-people but they haven't gotten back to me yet. I hope somebody knows how to fix this because it's really starting to frustrate me!

Well after doing some poking around. I found out that I too was scammed with an N5. If you're firmware on the disc that was sent to you has a file called _AX_MENU.DAT, you're using the N5 firmware not the R4. Looks like I'll be buying another cart...

Dear Arch Fellin, I looked all over the world, and I discovered you have (had) exactly the same problem as me. (see your older posting below) I just got the R4 yesterday and I tried (I think)everything. Can you (or anyone else who has the answer) please help me(ASAP)? What am I doing wrong, or is the R4 or SD card broken? Greetings Evapower

I think that my problems will go away.
the lower screen says game loading and shows a blue bar. The top screen starts scrolling text that looks like commands. Version 1.71 appears at the top left and "MoonShell" appears in the middle above the scrolling lines of text.
An error was detected while trying to access a disc or file.
Did the set up end normally?
Is the moonshl folder moved or deleted?
Have you enabled the resume function with a media that is not supported?
Do you have enough free space on your media?
Please reformat the media and try again.
Please try with different media from another manufacturer.
Then the screens change and both top and bottom have the blue backgrounds

I just purchased a R4DS card for my grandson from depot888.com . I would like to say, the price and service of depot888.com are EXCELLENT. The only thing is that they are Canada based company and drop shipping from Hong Kong. It took me about 2 weeks to get the parcel. So if you are in a hurry, please do not order from them, otherwise everything is perfect.
My grand daughter now is asking for another R4 DS card. I just paid a new irder thru paypal and parcel is on the way.
Hope this will help.

I recently got 5x vIII's from h**p://w_w_w.klickstore.com/ BEFORE checking Afterdawn for any reports on the company. The R4 cards took around three to four days to cross the Irish Sea to get to Ulster, but they got here ok.
However, what I didn't know was that I had been supplied with vIII's and not v2's, as I had ordered and spent a whole day trying to get the cards working - all to no avail...
I rang the supplier today - see thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/50/593234#4385062 and with his help in supplying the right firmware, I got one of the cards ~ picked at random from the five purchased ~ up and running. Yay!
Check my Afterdawn post for details, if anyone's interested?! Right now, I've to get another FOUR cards up and running...

The R4 III upgrade need a different firmware to the v2s. Visit http://www.r4ds.com and download the correct version. (I think it's 3.06 at the time of writing) I have just done 5 R4 III cards with no problems. Good luck.

I'm having the "Loading..." screen problem aswell. Nobody seems to have answered this query on here. What is wrong and what do we need to do please? One thing I noticed is that on the guide on the first post here the icons for the _DS_MSHL.NDS and _DS_MENU are proper icons. On mine they are the little icon like a file not recognise, the one that looks like a white box with red, green and blue dots. I get the feeling I'm still missing something. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

Apologies everyone for having taken soooo long to get back to you on my progress with the other four cards I had to load software and nds images to... ALL FIVE cards were loaded with the software as mentioned/alluded to in my earlier posting and I've had NO problems with any of the cards since.
Sorry that the follow-up is late, but it's still current, if you know what I mean?! LOL! Hope I've helped someone solve their problems in any way...

Not wanting to hijack this great thread but I still see people asking about the black screen loading issue, I have posted in the following thread and it seems to have helped the OP there, so hopefully one or two others may find it also useful.
