i've had dvdxcopy retail version since before the court case and have been using it with an old magic spin DVD+rw drive
this past week i got a new LG DVD+R dl "super milti" drive and everytime i put in a disk to back up it starts to read it then just says something like " this movie is ccs encrypted, this version of dvd x copy platinum cannot copy ccs..bla bla bla"
i can re-install my OLD drive and it works just as good as it ever did. but the new drive just won't do it.. i even tried some suggestions i found in a search to where i played the movie on the drive first, but i'm still getting the error
any idea on what would be causeing this... is there something in the newer drives firmware or something that could cause issues w/ xcopy?
any help would be great, i'd hate to have to tell my woman that the drive she got me for my birthday last week is almost worthless for what i'm doing.
Question: I don't have the Ripper Free version of Platinum, yet I'm getting CSS encryption errors.
Answer:
This error occurs when the Region setting for your burner is incorrect. Here are the steps to take:
1. Go to My Computer.
2. Right-click on your burner's Icon, then click Properties.
3. Go to the Hardware tab, then highlight your burner and click Properties at the bottom of the page.
4. Go to the DVD Region tab. At the bottom of this page, your Current Region should be listed. If the Current Region is incorrect, follow the on-screen instructions to correct it. If you are not sure what Region Code you should be using, contact your DVD player's manufacturer.
thanks so much for the help, i shut it down, re-installed my NEW drive. Set the region how you described and it's working perfectly now. thanks again!!!! i was getting so discouraged and didn't wanna tell my woman that the gift she gave me for my birthday just woudln't work for my uses.
i'm not super computer savy, but hopefully i can contribute something back to the board sometime soon
You are most welcome, glad I could help. I ran into the same problem with my LG drive. Fortunately, a couple of sites had some problem solving faqs.
Make sure you are using top notch media, as you can not control the speed with XCopy. The drive will burn as fast as the media will allow. I had problems with playback with some titles in some dvd players.
Also XCopy will not do the newer movies. I've moved on to the AnyDvd/CloneDvd2 combination.
hmmm... i've never had anything but xcopy.. i recently did lord of war...not sure if that's how new you're talking about though.
i only use simple mode because i'vehad a ton of problems with disk splitting and the 1st disk either locking up, or they are unplayable on certain players.
i hate the fact that i can't get menus in simple mode though... i hAven't tried and compression yet though.
it take me about 30 minutes to back one up in simple mode. the programs you say ou use now? are they very complicated? or take very long?
I'd be interested in something that works better if it's simple enough for someone like me to use (laughing at my self on thatone)
I'm not real familiar with back up copies, just here and there. I mainly put together motorcycle stunt videos, and make some simple DVDs with some crappy authoring tools i got on a software bundle.
any info or tips would be great. i think i'll be stopping in over here a bit more trying to learn some stuff that will probably save me a ton of headaches i've gone through learning allthis through trial and error
