Yes but you can quad SLI with a pair of 7950s can't you? I'm guessing that's less power than three 8800GTXs. The PSU is certified for quad SLI, doesn't say what though does it?

yes, but one GTX draws quite alot of power, and don't mention 3 GTX it's a 3 high end card and newer technology than 7950, and since 7950 is 2 cards. But you have a point there.
two HD3870 X2 draws increadible amount of power.
9800GT qill support 3 way sli, it's a 8800GT with an extra connector thing.

Three 8800GTXs alone will use about 550-600W. Two HD3870X2s will use about 500W.

3 cards still draws more than 2 cards even if it's a dual core. High end 9-series will probably draw much much more.

Well, if you had three 9600GTs, that wouldn't be the case, but I don't think you can do that.

9600GT can't support 3-way sli, thats just too bad, other wise thats a good option.
I'm waiting for Nvidia's new 9800GTX, if it's way better than ATI cards then i'll go for a 780i chipset mobo and Nvidia card, basically a nvidia build. If the difference aren't too far apart then i'll get HD3870 X2.

I'm not averse to getting an nvidia card despite the image quality loss (since the image quality of the 3800s is marred by the fact that most of the time catalyst can't draw 2D without corrupting it) but I'm staying away from nvidia chipsets. The P35 runs so much better and cooler than the 650i.

I doubt it will ever happen properly, but really, I don't consider SLI worth the money, even with graphics cards being as cheap as they are now. Don't forget, the electricity to run the cards costs more than the things themselves now. If you game for 6 hours a day but leave your PC running the rest of the time, an additional 9600GT will set you back £70 a year in this country. An additional 8800GTX will set you back an extra £100 a year.

Then i'll have to kinda wait for Gigabytes P45 chipset, then it should have 1 PCI-E instead od 2 just like P35, but it support PCI-E 2.0

Big whoop, you spent an extra hundred quid to have a case that's slightly more imposing. Not everyone is willing to spend £150 on a case that's generally pretty unremarkable. half of the design choices in the A10B are in the half-as-pricey Antec P182, and the build quality of that is also excellent. The RC-690 I chose isn't badly made either, and it would probably cool better. There are plenty of people out there who adore Lian Li cases, I know a few, but to a lot of people, the extra expense seems ludicrous, and I'm included in that group. A lot of people thought I was mad to pay £85 for my case, let alone nearly double it for that one.

not forgetting my better mobo, and having 4GB ram in only 2 slots, and arguebly the better PSU
what do others think?

Better? I'm curious as to how you can qualify a PSU that's only 625W and costs over 100 pounds better. At high load levels I highly doubt they'll be quieter than the Corsair, and given the immaculate build quality of the Corsair units, what else is there to improve on? Looks?
The only vote that goes in its favour is that it's modular, and if you want a 620W modular power supply, then just get the HX, that's pretty much the same price as the 750W TX.
The Rampage Formula is an unquestionably good motherboard, but as I've discussed with many, it is only necessary for an extreme overclocker. The sort of overclocker who is probably looking at watercooling or compression. On air cooling the temperatures will become a limit far sooner than the motherboard will be - or at least they will be with a Quad core CPU.
Are two 2GB memory modules really better than 4 1GBs? I hear a lot of grumbles at how little they will overclock.
Considering the system I've posted comes in at £25 cheaper, not only with a significantly faster GPU but also a good keyboard and mouse included as well, the 'advantages' you're posting are almost splitting hairs.

sam go around the web and find the new king of 600W PSUs the most stable and QUIETEST, the Modu 82+ series.
and they will reach atleast 500FBS, the limit on aire cooling due to voltages.
and if you see mort, he has a huge OC WITHOUT WATER..:O xD
you would get over 3.6 with this board for the Q6600.
and a case is the most looked at part, bar the monitor (kb, mouse arent looked at that much, unless you actually look at the Kb when typing, which i do not (although my spelling mistakes can tell you that xD)

The acoustic test results of the Modu82 are impressive, primarily for the idle load result of 19dB, versus the Corsair's 21. However, in the average PC the power supply is going to be inaudible behind the din of the graphics card, and that goes for either of the two we've picked out. The one trump card it does have, however is the quiet operation at 400W. The TX 650W doesn't have this, but the HX 620W does, so the Enermax still isn't that groundbreaking for most people - what is groundbreaking, however, is the price. Spending good money on a PSU is always wise, but over £100 is bordering on the ridiculous.
I'm willing to bet that the P35 board can get a Q6600 to 3.6Ghz as well.
As for the case, it's personal opinion. You're willing to pay an extra £100 because you like the look it gives. A lot of people seem to prefer the nasty blue LED type cases that cost pittance...

Heh, I do know how you feel. I've still yet to see a case I like the looks of more than the ones I have now. Almost everybody who sees them agrees with me on that front, and the one that doesn't is an out and out Lian-Li fan... :)
Looking further into things, the quietest PSU you can buy is in fact a KW unit! <Shock and awe> which is of course expensive (although not actually much more than the 625W Enermax). One wonders if they make a smaller version that's as quiet.
Here are some results I found - I included an Enermax Galaxy for the lols, so you can see what typical 'extreme gamer' power supplies sound like.
Quiet PSU standoff:
Typical idle, 120W:
1. Enermax 625W, 19dB
2. Zalman 1KW, 20dB
3. Corsair VX/TX, 21dB
5. Corsair HX, 22dB
6. Enermax Galaxy, 30dB
Normal Gaming PC load, 250W:
1. Zalman 1KW, 20dB
2. Enermax 625W, Corsair TX, 21dB
4. Corsair VX/HX, 22dB
6. Enermax Galaxy, 35dB
Dual graphics Gaming PC load, 360W:
1. Zalman 1KW, 20dB (yes, still!)
2. Enermax 625W, 26dB
3. Corsair HX, 29dB
4. Corsair TX, 38dB
5. Enermax Galaxy, 43dB
6. Corsair VX, 44dB
Quad SLI gaming PC load, 550W:
1. Zalman 1KW, 31dB
2. Enermax 625W, 37dB
3. Corsair HX, 43dB
4. Corsair TX, 44dB
5. Corsair VX/Enermax Galaxy, 50dB

we tried sli with two 9800gtx's and didn't get anything visually better and only about 700 on the 3dmark this is with expensive boards (we don't really bother with the cheap ones) but £200 for practically no real difference does seem a waste of money

There are a few "the way it's meant to be played" games that not only run faster on equivalent ATI hardware, but also work well with crossfire too, so to be honest, I consider that meaningless these days - just as I do ATi sponsored games being better, it's all marketing and no meaning.
