but there will be no difference bar you wont get connectors and no stock clock. it is deffo worth the price difference.
for a GTX to be cheap is good. it does beat the G92 GTS and GT, (and GTS in some cases better), and its the same price as GTS and just a bit over the GTs. IMO, its a complete bargin.

IMO it's not. The cheap, lower build quality construction and the lack of support for the card are a big nono. It's not like ATI hardware where ATI themselves make the rest, it's given to cheap brands who won't even put their name on the card. I'd sooner save a further £20 and buy a proper version of a G92 GTS. Just as fast, and properly made.

REALLY! never knew that :S
i always thought Nvidia refernce was sent to the ADM and they then, like most applied a stick, bundle, or factory OCed, or added a random cooler. so i assumed that it was the reference nvidia one.
oh and there is alot of support. 1 year waranty and the forum.

I'm sorry but no. A 1 year warranty isn't acceptable for something that expensive and that fragile.

Well that's my point, you've no idea who made the card, which is why the lack of warranty is all the more worrying.

Had a little play around with the latest THG benchmark to figure out which of today's high end graphics cards can pull a playable frame rate (above 30fps) in modern games (the THG benchmark suite). The results were interesting to say the least:
At 2560x1600 with 4x AA and 8x AF, there are only three games in the suite that are playable on any card - Oblivion, Age of Empires 3 and World in Conflict, the latter only on an 8800GTX.
Interestingly enough both the HD3870 and 2900XT can cope with AoE3 at that resolution, but Oblivion at those settings is 8800s only (GT, GTS-G92 and GTX).
At 2560x1600 with no AA or AF, 7 games are playable, although Supreme Commander is a bit of a conditional as the frame rate is still below 30fps (I can deal with a lower frame rate far better in RTS than FPS, hence why I say conditional). At these settings the only card that can't play UT3, Oblivion and AoE3 is the 8600GTS.
The 8800GTX is the only card that can play COD4 at 2560x1600.
At 1920x1200 with no AA or AF, the number of playable games still remains at 7 of 8, but all the games are playable on all the cards except the 8600GTS which can only play Oblivion and UT3.
The 8th game in the test, Crysis, is not playable on any card at any of the settings tested. Looks like if you've got a large monitor, Crysis at max is still off limits for the time being using a single card.
I will try and see if any of this changes with dual GPU setups, and have a look at what resolution you can play Crysis on max at.
Cards tested:
8800GTX (24 of 32 tests playable)
8800GTS G92 (22 of 32 tests playable)
8800GT (22 of 32 tests playable)
HD3870 (18 of 32 tests playable)
HD2900XT (18 of 32 tests playable)
HD3850 (11 of 32 tests playable)
8800GTS 640MB (16 of 32 tests playable)
8800GTS 320MB (13 of 32 tests playable)
8600GTS (2 of 32 tests playable)

Yep, and the list I've just added to the end of that post makes the 8600GTS seem even more tragic.

8 games were tested at four different resolution settings, resulting in 32 tests. The 8600GTS achieved a playable frame rate (30fps and above for 7 games, 20fps and above for supreme commander) in only 2 of the tests.

Barely, your card being overclocked isn't enough to change its position in those charts. the 8600GTS scores massively lower than all the other cards in most tests. It doesn't just miss the mark, it doesn't even get close.

To be fair, that's mainly because most people don't build laptops themselves, you'd just basically find the most expensive config on the Alienware page.
