Hi all, i just got into the ps2, and would like like to know your opinions on the best rpgs on the ps2. I know about Final Fantasy and kingdom Hearts, what do you recommned beyond these???

Dragon Quest VIII*,
Kingdom Hearts 1*+ 2* (not RPG's yet they are of similar flavor),
Final Fantasy X* (also VI, VII*, VIII* and IX on PS1)
Tales of Legendia (I wasn't too keen on it but lots of folk tend to disagree),
Shadow Hearts,
Shin Megami Tensei Lucifers call,
Disgaea hour of darkness,
Grandia 3 (havn't played yet as I am waiting for my own internet connection to download the monster file size)
Wild Arms 4,
La Pucelle Tactics,
Suikoden Tactics,
Xenosaga part 1, 2 and 3.
* Are some of my personal favorites, again everyone has there own flavor.

Out of them I'd definately go for Dragonquest VIII, never played Suikoden and Wild Arms 4 kinda sucks.

go to www.rpgamer.com cuz it has all the rpg that are known to man. good website too by the way and it also have reviews for most of the games.

yeah it's pretty pants, too much singing and dancing, some of it's quite good though if your a die hard final fantasy fan.

I'm I a bit of an FF die hard but i haven't checked out X-2; Seems a bit too much of a novelty - so let me know what you think Svtstang! Star Ocean:TTEOT has me hooked at the moment... There's a game called Ico (more of an action puzzler) you might be interested in, if you can get your hands on it that is - beautiful game! By the way you guys must be from the US because over here in Australia it's impossible to find Dragon Warrior VII VIII or otherwise for any less than $120 bucks and it ain't even released on PAL!!

no prob timmy, and star ocean is the sh!t, played it for a bit last weekend and its prob my favortie rpg ive played on ps2(after ffX 0f course)i'll let u know if X-2 is any good:)

FF X-2 is not much different than FF X.
The world is exactly the same, same towns and almost same caracters.
The level up system is also a little different, without the sphere grid.
And finally, the story is a lot worse than FFX.
But I don´t think that is a bad business if you buy it for the price that you said.

FF X-2 is a feminine version of X like Aphex face say's too much singing and dancing the storyline isn't great and you can only switch between three people in total Yuna, Riku and Payne.
Dragon Quest VIII (Dragon Warrior is the Japanese name for it) is released in both PAL and NTSC USA, it is a top RPG that deserves all the credit it gets, it took me over 110 hours to complete and has an adult sense of humor top knotch game, also like Timmy1978 say's Star Ocean till the End of Time is a great game I gave up right at the very end but well worth the play.

yeah i've only been playing Star Ocean for a couple of weeks and have already clocked up nearly 25 hours! It addictive as hell! Yeah i can't say i care much for singing and dancing in X-2, especially if it doesn't do any justice to the story set in FFX. Probably get it anyway just to be a completist. Dragon Quest VIII in PAL hey! Good news i'll have to snipe it off Ebay then haha... Ever since i saw the screen shots for DQVII i wanted to play it. Looks like one of those old school RPGs that play like a dream. Thanks Paul 1085. BTW why did you give up on Star Ocean at the end?

ummmm...ok...u guys were right
been playn X-2 for a few hours now, not sure if its just me, but did Mattel produce this game cause im feelin like im playin a DAMN BARBI GAME!!!! As much as a love the FF series, THANK YOU GOD FOR REFUND POLICIES!!!!! LOL
Next up, Grandia 3(cant be as lame as X-2....Ihope

Do you mean X-2 Pepsi Maxx? Number X was the only FF where even till the end of the game i didn't get tired of random battles! No Spoilers but i'll just say the last boss in FFX was a bit of a dissapointment... Bring back Sephiroth!!
