While your replies sound logical and correct, why, how, COULD the flash drive send such a discharge? I've never seen or heard of instances where a flash drive causes a static discharge.
If this helps, it remained in a Restarting loop, until I switched the PSU off. Could be the PSU after all eh.
Meh, i've been wanting to replace the S.O.B. anyway. It isn't a corsair, so that bothers me LOL!

Both you and your computer should be on a anti-static mat, but more importantly YOU should be on one prior to touching your computer. I can't even get to my computer without stepping on my anti-static mat.

An intriguing idea. Never occurred to me to put both myself and my computer on an antistatic mat. Since its been months since it did it last, I won't know for a while whether or not. I did just install another optical drive. Which points toward:
1. more electrical draw
2. More signal running through the southbridge
or just simply due to the season change(Lower humidity)

the computer is grounded as long as the power cord & wall plug are using the 3rd prong & the house is wired properly.

LOL! This house is goofy as it gets. In the area of carpentry anyway. I guess I shouldn't discount the possibility that the electric is mickey moused as well...

Yeah, but if the person is standing on carpet, or touch something that could conduit static, that's all she wrote.

Nope, Win7 has native drivers for everything, including graphics.
You can make the icons smaller. Start Menu icons are made smaller by right clicking the start taskbar, properties and "use small icons"
The size of the desktop icons is adjusted with Ctrl + Mousewheel when hovering over the desktop itself.

Mmm, not bad, though my one complaint about those entirely transparent PC cases is they can't stand up to holding the sort of hardware that does them justice...

They don't have anywhere near sufficient cooling capacity to take high powered graphics cards and high-TDP CPUs, or big blocks of hard drives.

This is quite possibly the longest length of time, I've seen the building thread without... posting traffic LOL!
I just had something curious happen. Windows aero disabled, and over 50% of my cpu was in use. Winsat.exe seemed to utilize the greater portion there of. Kind of trippped me out LOL! Anyone know what that could mean? I don't recall Ok'ing any scans, or what not at PRECISELY 1:00Am!
Windows 7 by the way.

I've had windows Aero disable all by itself and come back a minute later on a few occasions. Doesn't happen often enough to warrant trying to find the cause.

@Omega7
WinSAT.exe (System Assessment Tool) integrated in windows runs a series of tests and then rates your computer on a scale ranging from 1 through 5. WinSAT.exe actually rates several subsets of your computer system, including processor, memory, primary hard disk, graphics, and gaming graphics.
Try this...
1. Open Control Panel >> Administrative Tools
2. Double click Task Scheduler
task-scheduler-windows-7
3. Browse to Microsoft\Windows\Maintenance, and Disable the task named "WinSAT" disable-winSAT-windows-7
4. Right click and select disable for WinSAT task in task scheduler.

Ah yeah, the assessment test certainly will disable Aero, as it needs to run a 3D graphics test (with null output).
Interestingly, the windows experience test in Win7 doesn't seem to update properly, as re-running the test with almost entirely different hardware will always produce the same score for all parts of the test.

Thanks LP531, but it would appear that it only does it once a week(Sundays at 1:00Am). I don't see the harm in it. LOL, nor do I see the benefit. Thanks for the info guys.

Hi Sam
: )
@Omega & Sam
WinSAT.exe is not associated with any service...it is integrated as a scheduled task...which runs automatically from task scheduler...
Hence the 1:00 prompted start time...
Shutting Off the scheduled task should stop the occurrences...
@Omega
You are right...it will not harm anything by running...nor is it beneficial to run...at least now you know what it is...what it is doing...and you can now stop it if you wish...Glad to help...
Lp531...

Fool me once, fool me twice etc.
Decided to change my overclock volts setting to Auto after realising I didn't need manual volts for only 3.4Ghz the other day. Never thought to check everest. Bad move.
After wondering why the air coming out of my top fans was so hot, opened everest to discover my CPU temperature was 87ºC. Hmm, seems quite high I thought, new thermal paste? <checks CPU voltage> 1.55V.
No more auto volts for me, EVER.
