Did you read the news on the AfterDawn homepage?! How exciting! Sooner it comes out, the sooner we can hack and mod it!

What would be really fun is if they released it surpisingly without telling anyone tomorrow. It just "appeared" in stores. Haha. What a good idea. That would cause some havoc!

It's traditionally been a bad idea to release a console without anyone noticing it.More hype the better. That's why I want to see from nintendo an official responce on top of this, to confirm it.It would be great news indeed.

Has a console ever come out without telling people? I mean the big companies like Playstation Nintendo and Microsoft?

Not completely no... But just saying it's a bad idea for it to just show up on shelves and not tell everyone.

Speaking of Wii and Modding. Wii can be modded obviously and it will play N64 games, but can the N64 be premodded or are there premods on the net for the n64?

But last I read about the Wii, they are just now starting to produce final hardware, so that is just a dream as of now.

eh....?
Who the hell wants to mod an n64 these days?
And nobody knows the piracy prevention on wii until it comes out because nintendo has their lips sealed. You may be able to play n64 on the virtual console but aside from that we don't know.

Yeah but you never know. They first believed Spring 2007, then November 2006, and now September or October!

True.It's pretty cool.
It is hard to believe, I mean they struggled to get a showable model on to e3 2006 in time but maybe they made some great progress after all this is nintendo!

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

N64 mods don't exist especially in premodded form. The n64 used cartridges not discs.Besides you could just buy games for next to nothing these days for n64 so you don't need a mod.I answered your other one on another thread too.

I found a few N64 mods and backups but they arent in production anymore. I can't find a site to buy them.

I'd be highly skeptical about a release date in september.. though, mid October could be possible.
While not completely dismissing this speculation, Nintendo did released a statement sort of against it saying
Quote: "There's no change in our plan to release the console in the last quarter of this year. We are planning an announcement in September and it may be causing some confusion."
http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/2006/07/06/nintendo-wags-finger-...
A September launch would be awesome, but I can't see it happening since there's a lot more work that needs to be done on the 3rd party release titles. (i.e. Red Steel)
According to reports I've heard from E3, the 3rd party developers are having a difficult time creating solid controlls with the new wiimote interface.

^^^^^^ That's is why I was so skeptical myself lol.

There are no back ups because they were released on cartridges NOT discs. There are no mods unless it's a scam or there reffering to something else. It's impossible. N64 has no usb,no hdd,no expansion, and run off cartridges. How are you gonna get or make back ups when they didn't release blank cartridges.
If your talking about imports then yes maybe. They'll be hard to find though.

@cabeach Wow thanks for cluing me in on that one.I wonder how it was all put together back in the day though.Just getting the roms back then would seem tough much less the rest but it's cool to see hacks back then were creative enough to make a cartridge based console play cd's.
Maybe ebay it.
